We're big fans....eat here regularly, but have never written a review. Their lunch special is hard to beat - a chopped beef or pulled pork sandwich plus 2 sides for $11. Generous amount of meat; great selection of self-serve sides. (I'm partial to their collard / mustard greens. They're like my grandma's!! Not many places carry them any more.) The mac & cheese is also very good. Also, if you're new here, they offer okra, but you have to ask for it. (It's worth it!!) If you like chicken fried steak, then come here on Tuesday or Thursday. It's hand-battered, perfectly crispy and HUGE!! We split one and both walk away satisfied. Best CFS we've found in the mid-cities region. Lastly, they offer a self-serve ice cream for dessert. After driving past this unassuming place for years, I finally decided to give it a try. Upon entering, it is bigger than it may seem from the street, because of expanded dining areas to the rear of the building. Feedstore follows a pretty standard BBQ format - counter service, pick your sides, grab a drink, and get a free frozen treat before leaving. So despite all of Southlake's allusions to being upscale, the Feedstore is a throwback to the town's real agrarian roots (most of Southlake was farms and pig farms decades earlier). As far as the food goes, I'd say my experience was about average. I had the smoked turkey, which was quite dry (admittedly, most turkey seems to be), so I piled on a spoonful of cole slaw on the sandwich which helped. Although the cole slaw was pretty dry too (not a lot of dressing). The mac & cheese was on the soupy side. I give Feedstore props for hanging in all these years, and maybe I just caught them on an off day. I'll try again and hope for a better experience. read more

We love the Feedstore! Not only is this a local favorite as it's tucked away in a nearby Southlake neighborhood street, but the food is excellent! They have specials each night. They have plenty of seating to accommodate a simply family dinner or a larger party. We reserved a room that allowed us to fit our entire family of 13 and celebrate a birthday for my dad. There is also picnic tables that you can venture out on and pet/ feed the barnyard animals across the way. The ribs are great! We also get a la carte meat and a few sides for the family. Tried this place because my daughter has practice nearby before her competition tomorrow. Everyone was happy with their food but me. Instead of cutting along the bones, the ribs were cut straight across the bones. I know people like the marrow but I found it off putting and mi was concerned about eating a sharp piece of bone. The sauce was good but the dry rub was incredibly salty. I didn't eat the crust because it was too salty. My husband liked it but I couldn't eat the last rib because all I could taste was salt which is why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars. The Mac and cheese is bomb and so is the coleslaw. GIVE THE WOMAN WHO CLEARS THE TABLES A RAISE!!! She was incredibly nice and checked with us even though she didn't need to. She also enjoyed talking to my younger one. read more

Came in for the lunch special after seeing them featured on an Instagram page, sadly it was underwhelming. Asked for 2 wet brisket sandwiches and got 1 dry brisket and 1 dry pork....we already got it so we didn't say anything. The meat was super dry and hard to swallow. Okra had no seasoning, beans were okay, mac & cheese was the Golden Corral type, & the potato salad was too sweet for my liking. I think the good reviews may be nostalgia or supporting local places but it wasn't worth the visit and not worth going again. read more

It has a cafeteria style line with a cashier at the end. The atmosphere is typical Texas style. The staff is friendly and quick. The restaurant is very clean! The BBQ is very good, it's not the best, but definitely not the worst. This is great accessible BBQ. My only complaint is that the owner publicly displays their politics, inappropriate in my opinion. You place your order at the counter, and they slice your meat(s) in front of you before you pay. This is the best Barbecue I have eaten in my 6 years of living in Texas. The portions are very good and you get 2 sides, which is a great deal for the money. The man slicing the meats knows what he's doing, complete pro. They have the best sauce in the state. The service is very quick and painless. I attend many meetings at White's Chapel and pass by Feedstore BBQ all the time when heading home. The restaurant ALWAYS has a full parking lot which has kept the restaurant on my radar. Saturday evening as my wife and I were leaving our meeting, we finally decided to stop in and we're glad we did. The restaurant's walls are adorned with a plethora of awards the pit masters haves won for their outstanding "Q." There are also lot of other very investing photos and memorabilia to look at. It's your typical "go through the line" BBQ restaurant but Feedstore offers much much more including hamburgers and catfish. I decided on the two meat plat with brisket and St. Louis style ribs. The plate came with 2 sides. I chose potato salad and coleslaw. My wife decided on a sliced brisket sandwich and fresh cut French fries. After going through the line and paying we took our seat with a numbered table tent for my wife's fries. She is not a huge barbecue fan and doesn't enjoy it like I do. She took a bit of her sandwich and said it was some of the best barbecue she's had in a long time. Unfortunately her fries hadn't arrived by the time she had finished her sandwich. But when the fries did arrive, they were worth the wait, fresh out of the fryer, hot and fried to perfection. Many times fresh cut fries and not blanched and then refried correctly resulting in a "limp" undercooked French fry. Feedlots fries were incredible, hot, firm and crispy. I could have enjoyed another order of them just for dinner. My two-meat plate was all that I could ask for in an incredible plate of barbecue. The brisket, offered in "traditional" or lean cuts, had just enough fatty content to enhance the flavor. The St. Louis style ribs was dry rubbed perfectly and falling off the bone. My two meats were incredible. The potato salad and coleslaw were also above par from your typical barbecue joint! My wife and I'll definitely return again REAL soon. read more

Very overwhelming menu for a 1st timer as the line moves forward & it's coming up to your turn. Decisions, decisions! I went with the brisket sandwich wet w/collard greens & spicy pinto beans and wash it all down a cup of homemade sweet iced tea. They offer ice cream at the end of your meal that I didn't take advantage of but I saw lots of others getting. The beans were not my favorite but they were good. The greens were delicious. I have heard and read great things about Feedstore BBQ in Southlake, but I just didn't enjoy it. The large parking lot was full when we arrived so we were looking forward to some good BBQ. We didn't get it. My fiancé had brisket and I had turkey. The texture was good, but neither of them tasted like they had been seasoned at all. The sauce had a strange flavor and I ended up not using it at all after the first two tastes. Sides were a little bit better, but not by much. Between us, we tried the broccoli, mac & cheese, mashed potatoes with cream gravy and potato salad. The broccoli tasted like broccoli. There's not much that can be done with that. The mac & cheese seemed promising, with its creamy texture, but it had no flavor. The mashed potatoes and gravy weren't awful and was probably #3 on the list of foods we experienced. The potato salad ranked as #2, but I would rate even it at only 3/5 stars. The rolls were so-so. Not hard but not soft, and they were not warmed. I wasn't impressed. The best part of our meal was the soft serve ice cream. Free with kid's meal and $.50 for others. Sadly, that was the best part of our BBQ adventure. Skip Feedstore BBQ. There are much better places around. Even the others I don't care for are better than what we had here. read more

follow up on my earlier 2 Star review I believe the quality of the taste and texture ina BBQ store is tied to what time of day you dine. I think I got the lunch shift meats as I dined at 4: 30pm the first time and everyrhing was dried out. Today I dined at 1:30 and the ribs were better...not great as I ahave had them here before and the chicken was very good. The brisket was too dry and cool. Another concern is the potato salad and cole slaw were barely cool. They should be noticeably cold for safety concerns. The manager responded to my last review and offered a full refund and mymext meal on the house. I appreciate the gesture but, I don't accept money. I like this place and was only trying to be helpful. I will continue to dine here. read more

I went on a Saturday and there was no sausage. I ended up ordering brisket. The brisket looked pre-sliced and very dry. None of the employees were helpful and were talking amongst themselves behind the counter. Nothing was explained to us. The sides tasted like they either came out of a can or just thrown together. Their bread was not hot even though it was in a warmer and tasted dense and bland. My water out of the machine was HOT which isn't refreshing in the Texas heat. The different types of BBQ sauce were sweet and runny, not what I was expecting. The only redeeming quality of this place was the soft serve ice cream.
