Man! Man! The real deal, I must eat over 100 restaurants a year and maybe 5 make me go wow! Trying this will make you crave more if you have never had Jamaican food. Went Friday around 5, and it was 20 minute wait to get everything hot and ready. When I got my food 20 mins later, the person in line was due for 30 mins when they were checking out, so they get busy (obviously) during dinner! Remember there is a difference between Jerk Chicken and Chicken. I went for the Jerk Chicken, Pork, Cabbage Stir Fry and Island Fried rice. for $13.95. Jerk Chicken was pipin hot fresh, my hands could not hold it but my mouth with a fork was downing it fast. I think they called it Mix, where its between hot and mild, highly recommend, its a flavor bomb! Pork was VERY VERY good, it had a great marinade and was topped with a little sweet sauce that was amazing. Some of the Sauce went into the rice which made the meal even better! PLEASE try the cabbage stir fry, it has a fun smokey taste, well seasoned and it only makes you want to eat more! All in all, too many flavor bombs to comprehend individually, it was fantastic and I miss it typing this out.

I tried to wait then take a photo wing plate

Some days you just need variety and Doc's will give you that at a reasonable price. Wings: You can get them wet or dry, mild or jerk. My favorite combination is the plate which comes with 2 sides. I pick plantains and island fried rice. Are any of you picky plantain eaters? I like mines soft and Doc's makes them right! The beef patties are also consistently delicious. The only downside to Doc's is that the main seating is outside and limited.

I am Jamaican American and happy to hear of a Caribbean restaurant in Roanoke convenient to Hwy 377. The place is very small so you either order to go or eat outside. I ordered a vegetarian patty and a side of stewed red beans. Both were tasty My husband ordered the Jerk Chicken Wings with Broccoli and enjoyed it, although the wings were very small. The Fresh Lemonade was his favorite We will be back. I hope they add some more plant based proteins to the menu.

I don't even know where to start. between the food, the lemonade and the amazing customer service I can't tell you which is better! it was my first time trying this place and let me just say I will definitely be back. the owner is so friendly and down to earth. I got the jerk chicken platter w cabbage stir fry, I got the spice level where he mixes the spicy and mild and it's so good!! the cabbage still has a nice crunch and super flavorful. I cannot wait to go back and try more stuff from the menu. please try this place out you will not regret it!!

Jerk Pork Platter with Island Fried Rice and Stewed Red Beans. Beef Pattie

Two words....Hell Yes!!! If you're one of the morons that drives by this place and won't go in because you're looking at the outside, then you're a moron...just like I was until a couple hours ago when I finally ordered some food. Based off the reviews I knew it took a while to get the food so I called in. Called twice and there was no answer so I started thinking about where i was going to go and then my phone rang and it was the owner calling me back. He apologized and said that he was explaining the food to a new customer on the phone and couldn't hang up on her. I told him I understood and I was new too and wasn't sure about what to get. He helped me decide on the Jerked Pork Platter with Island Fried Rice and Stewed Red Beans, and then a Beef Pattie as a side. He told me 25 minutes. I showed up 25 minutes later and he was wrapping it up in a baggie. Took it home and ate every damn bit of it. Can't wait to go back...maybe tomorrow. Awesome food!

Wanted some jerk chicken...so here I am!

Chef Steve nailed it. I had never had jerk chicken or pork before and I really wanted to try it. I called ahead to ask what they recommend I try and I had originally only wanted to try the chicken. Steve talked me into also trying the jerk pork and he did not disappoint! He asked if we wanted it mild, spicy, or mixed and we decided to go with mixed. It was the perfect amount of heat for us and was not over powering. I decided to try the cabbage stir fry and if you like cabbage I would definitely recommend. I also had the island fried rice which was fantastic and paired amazing with the chicken and pork. We also tried the collard greens which were good, not great, and the plantains which I enjoyed but they were not sweet enough for my wife. The beef patty was good but messy so be sure to have a plate on hand and I do not recommend eating it while driving....I couldn't wait to try it. If you are going to order from here PLEASE call and order ahead. It does take a little time to prep and make all the food so just call about 20-30 minutes ahead if you don't want to be waiting! Chef Steve seemed very kind and excited for us to try his food! I will be back as he has requested the next time I go to try the wings!

These are suppose to be jerk chicken wings.

We went here on Sept 13 for our 3rd visit and my husband ordered the chicken thigh and wing platter. He was eating the chicken and as you can see below, it was not cooked properly. We contacted the restaurant the same night and they stated that on our next visit, they would switch out the platter or discount us for the original price for the inconvenience. We decided to give them another chance tonight and ordered 3 large wings platters and 1 small wing platter. I brought up the incident from the last visit and the cook stated that they could only replace the chicken and thigh platter and I stated to him that we didn't want to get another one and if we could just get one of the platters discounted. The cook stated he couldn't do this and was not able to discount it since he was not familiar with the POS system. We finally get home to eat our food and this is suppose to be jerk chicken wings and the chicken barely looked cooked as you can see below. My husband had to cook the chicken longer to get it crispy enough for us to even eat. We visited this place at least 4 times since it opened and the last 2 visits have been a great disappointment.

    Sweet plantains and kola champagne

Folks my mom is Jamaican & dad trindadian so I grew up eating Caribbean food. When I tell you this is some of the best Jamaican food I've eaten in a long time, I'm trying very hard not to put any disrespect on my mom's cooking in case she ever scroll thru Yelp reviews. The chef deserves a hand shake and pat on the back for his jerk chicken and bomb a$$ jerk pork. The rice and cabbage is a must. While you at it, throw some beef patties in the order because everything is that good. I can't eat a Jamaican meal without downing ting or champagne kola. I'm so full right now but can't wait till I digest my evening meal because I'm having leftovers for breakfast. Make sure you call in your order and take to go. It's really a takeout kinda place but don't let the unassuming building fool you, Doc's is the new neighborhood gem!

Front of building. I apologize because I ate food before my got home, and I live 15 mins away.

Shame on me I moved here in less than a year and I'm just discovering this place of island heaven. First and foremost the building is color bright and screams Jamaica. I'm greeted by a hello and the smell of something good from the kitchen. Customer service great and honest your wait will be 25 mins, cool with me because I know how this goes. I'm from CHICAGO and I know some good Jerk food. I suggest get one of everything and wash it down with a Kola or a Ting. Promise you no disappointments.

Jerk chicken (went with the small) platter to go, it was plenty!

Newly opened here in Roanoke...FINALLY! We have waiting and anticipating Doc's to open after reading their reviews from the catering website, they did not disappoint!!! It was AWESOME! Great food, very fresh, great service the owner explained all the items, we will definitely be back many times!!!

Jerk chicken with beans and cabbage, Bermuda Bowl - Fried Rice and Chicken.
    William H.

This place is awesome. Lives up to all the positive reviews. Got the jerk chicken with beans and cabbage. All were cooked and seasoned perfectly. Wife got the Bermuda Bowl with fried rice and chicken. She's a rice snob and said it was perfect. As others said, it was large enough for her to make two meals. She said she will eat it again and again. I agree, great stuff.

Today we decided to dine in for the first time. The food and service were good, until we received the bill and noticed a surprise $11.99 "vegetable plate" charge. When we asked about it at the front counter, we were told it was because "one person can't eat for free" since we only ordered one meal. I understand some restaurants charge a split plate fee or have minimum ordering policies. The issue is that this was never mentioned by the server and wasn't listed anywhere. A simple heads up would have avoided the frustration. On top of this they don't actually serve you the vegetable plate they are charging you for they just charge you extra for not being able to eat enough. Had we known, we likely would have ordered two chicken dinners and taken the extra food home. Ironically, we didn't even finish the single plate we ordered, which is exactly why we only ordered one meal in the first place.

I'm glad I checked it out because it was easily one of the best fried chicken experiences I've had, especially for the value. The price was fair, and the portions were gigantic. There's a nostalgic, feels-like-home kind of vibe here that made the meal even better. I was more than satisfied with both the food and the service. Highly recommended. As a side note, because the portion was huge, I asked for a to-go box. For some reason, they didn't have to-go boxes at the time and gave me a small plastic bag instead. Tons of seating inside, most of the food counters even bring your food to you. We've tried all the food counters except the newest one. The vendors all offer very different stuff. Wing Daddy & The Codfather are at one counter. The guy does fried chicken sandwiches, wings, burgers, fish and chips, fried fish sandwich, so many options, and his fish is never frozen or pre-battered. His is the only fried cod I buy anymore. No where else compares. He buys his fish fresh everyday and he's always offering some new item. Yeschef should really have his own sit down place because his food is so polished, but I'm glad he's here because I can order from him and The Codfather at the same time. lol Chef makes Louisiana food that seriously transports me to New Orleans. His gumbo is the best I've ever had, and his shrimp and grits are insane, truly out of this world. He also has things like truffle fries or truffle mac'n'cheese, po boys, his menu is epic. Azores Craft Sausages & Charcuterie is really special. The first time we went there he was on a soft opening and had no pizza, so we did his hummus appetizer and it was sooo good. He understands how to put flavor into simple dishes like hummus. Hummus is easy to make but hard to get right, and he does it justice. The real star here is his sausage. It's soooo good, and the Calabrese Sausage Pizza is really next level. His pizza sauce is authentically Italian: tomato, olive oil, salt. That's legit, and why he's my new favorite pizza guy. Roki's food counter always smells so good, I love Pho. Sadly, I've never tried her food, I always go straight to The Codfather first, but I love her drinks. I always get either an Italian Cream Soda, Vietnamese Coffee, or Thai Coffee. She's also really nice, love talking to her while she works. Wild Chef, newest food counter. He was closed for a catering event when we went there a couple days ago. He was prepping for his event so we got to chat with him, he mostly does take away meals, like meal prep. He also offers things like turkey salad (instead of chicken salad), flatheads, it all sounded really good. Looking forward to giving him a try next trip! Soulfire Brewing Co. is a really great spot, full bar. It's not a big space, but they have a pretty big covered patio and you can also sit in the food hall. Unfortunately, I got the short straw today on servers…read more Should have known when we weren't greeted upon entering. Totally ignored, drink was empty, no refills. Seems that only one of the two servers were looking after their tables. Not busy...no excuse, just poor service. Too bad, pizza wasn't that bad.

This weekend I went to pick up an order at Pizza Hut in Roanoke Texas. I gave the clerk my military…read moreID and my debit card He charged me accordingly gave me my receipt and when I got home I realized my military was not applied. Around 2:30 that afternoon I contacted the store manager and made him aware of what had happened and he argumentatively tried telling me that he could not refund anything I didn't want him to refund anything I was just making him aware of what had happened. He was very condescending very rude and his tone was so disrespectful. I asked to speak to another management person at the facility and he said he's busy with customers at the front I told him could you please put me on hold I'll wait and he said I would love to put you on hold Well I was placed on hold and after 30 minutes I hung up and I called the location back and I got the same person that said he was the manager on duty I told him I just spoke to you earlier and I was on hold for 30 minutes He goes Are you the one over the military I said yes I am and he was so rude to me and he ended up finally asking me for my phone number and he was able to tell me my name where I lived and had all my information and goes on to tell me Well I'll just put $2 back on your card and hung up slamming the phone in my ear. I have never and I mean never been treated so so rudely by anyone at any establishment that I deal with. I will only spend my money where I'm treated well and Pizza Hut in Roanoke Texas is definitely not an establishment that I will be entertaining any longer. IF YOU'RE LOOKING FOR A PLACE THAT HAS GOOD AMBIENCE AND CAPABLE MANAGEMENT THIS IS NOT THE PLACE TO GO! I WOULD NEVER EVER WANT ANYONE SPEAKING TO MY MOTHER THE WAY THAT THIS MANAGER SPOKE TO ME AND ESPECIALLY BECAUSE SHE SERVED OUR COUNTRY AND IS A US VETERAN!
