I've tried this place a few times I actually waited a couple of weeks after the grand opening to try it out because of the huge lines. The first time I tried it, it was amazing I had brisket, pork belly, brussel sprouts, and the corn salad. All of it was tender, hot and super fresh. The second time I went was on a Monday and I ordered just pork belly and it was not as soft as the last time. The last time I could eat it off the fork this time it was so hard I had to rip it apart with my hands and teeth like jerky. That really turned me off because I like consistency. I also had the brisket breakfast tacos and they were just ok for the $4 price tag I expected more brisket I was highly disappointed. I am so disappointed in this place. Saw it on Eat Like a Local and came across town to try it: it is a holiday and Veterans eat free so the wait was long (35mim). Service was slow and waited almost 30 min to get our food. When we finally got it everything was cold. When we alerted them they took the plate and stuck it in the salamander which dried everything out. Their response was "ok what do you want us to do about it, sorry". To be fair...the French fries are bomb and the Brussels sprouts lived up to the hype. Everything else was mediocre, at best. Defiantly not good BBQ. I heard about Feges through the HangryHoustonian Instagram account and knew I wanted to give it a try! I went today with a friend for lunch. We both got the 1 meat plate with sliced brisket. The brisket was perfect and while it didn't need any sauces because it was so moist, all three that they offer are incredible! For our sides we got the brussels, loaded potatoes and macaroni salad. All 3 sides were delicious. I also got sliced brisket to go for the husband who also agreed that it was delicious. We will definitely be back!!! read more

I went to Feges today with three of my co-workers, and we each tried a variety of their meats and sides. Overall, I would rate this as just "ok" as far as BBQ joints go - our consensus was the the pork ribs were very good, brisket was fair, and the boudin as well as sausage links left a lot to be desired. With the exception of the slaw with yogurt and cilantro (which really didn't have any taste to it), the sides we all shared were very good - the carrots and cucumbers especially. As I mentioned, the pork ribs were very good and I wish I had more of them that I received (I got the three meat plate and you get two pork ribs). The brisket slab carved for each us had some hit or miss - the bark had a good flavor yet most of the slices I received had a heck of a lot of fat on it and was stringy, while one of my coworkers said one of his was dry which I found surprising since they are using the Cadillac J&R pit. The sausage was another story entirely and I'm not sure how to describe it - it appeared to be shredded BBQ mixed with something none of us could really describe enclosed by a difficult-to-cut casing. While I thought it was interesting if you put enough BBQ sauce on it, two of my coworkers described it as "horrible" and something to avoid. The line took us about 25 minutes and we got there at 11:05 - part of this probably has to do with they are new for the lunch selection for Greenway Plaza. I think this would be a good BBQ alternative if you had no other options, but for the length of the line and the prime-time pricing, I think it would be a better alternative to hop in the car and drive ten minutes down the street to the Pit Room. read more

It was all sold out on day 1 of the grand opening so I made every effort to block my calendar to head downstairs early before 11am. I was shocked to see the line was already super long, with at least 50+ people standing in front of me. I had it in my head that I was going to order the pork belly and brisket. But as I got closer, I saw sign that they were out of pork belly. There was another sign for a sampler plate for $32 that they call "A little bit of everything" + 4 sides. Oh hell, why not! It came with a slice of brisket, smoke turkey, one whole sausage, 1 pork rib and a handful of pulled porked, nicely packed in two containers. I chose sweet potato, loaded potato, asian cucumber and elote corn salad as my sides. For my boss, I got her pork ribs and sausage with loaded potato, sprouts, and slice of pb&j chocolate cake. Since I was in the mood of just buying so I can try everything, I also added banana pudding to my order. My stomach continue to growl as I was checking out. My order came to $40 bucks and my boss order was $22. Kinda pricey but didn't care after waiting for so long in line. I made sure I grabbed extra bbq sauce, pickles, plenty of napkins and utensils. I did like how there utensils was individually shrink wrap. When I brought it upstairs, I was calling down the hall to all come and try. Since my meats came in two different containers, I decided to eat the pull pork and my single pork rib with the lighter healthier sides. Pulled Pork - DEELISHUSH! It was good and did not need no extra sauce. Pork rib - Dry rub kind and just as tasty. Asian cucumbers were good and so were the pickles. I did not care too much for the Elote. The name was deceiving so I was expecting Mexican street corn. This should be renamed to just corn. I tried my boss's sprouts and they were good too. I was so stuffed. We cracked open the banana pudding and all my co-workers said it was really good. I could not eat anymore. I decided to take the rest of my food in the fridge to bring home and eat later. Food coma kicked in and I never got hungry again. This has never happened!! I didn't eat the other half of my bbq till the next evening. I was nervous warming it up and was afraid I was going to dry out my meats, especially the turkey. Boy was I wrong! The brisket was so good, seasoned perfectly! Smoke turkey was extremely moist and sausage was full of flavor. The sausage texture was grainy so I see why my boss didn't enjoy it. Both her and my husband prefers a smooth sausage texture. For me, it was all damn yummy. I do wish the sides portion were bigger. It is much appreciated that most of the sides are healthy options but I do hope that they add mac and cheese to their menu. I can just imagine how awesome the brisket would go with mac and cheese for the days I really want to indulge on some comfort food. But since its almost swim suit season, I know I can come here and get my protein and veggies without adding the lbs to my waist line :) read more

I went to the Spring Branch location on Long Point. The place really looked nice upon entering, with clean lines and spaghetti westerns projected on the walls. I ordered the $18 dollar BBQ burger with Fries, a small elote Salad and a $5 dollar local beer. With tax the meal was $29.23. I sat down and a short time later a server dropped off a tiny 4.5 inch burger with commercial store bought frozen fries that anyone could have gotten from Kroger. There was about a half a cup of the elote salad in a paper bowl. I looked down at it. This tiny thing could not be my $18 dollar burger. The fries belong at a Wendys. So I picked up the plates and walked it back to the counter where about five people were leaning, and said,: "I paid $30 for this. I'm not even going to eat it." I set it down in front them and walked out of the restaurant. I could have gone to Myti Burger for $5. Feges BBQ needs to realize they are not running a River Oaks bistro. This is a working class neighborhood and not a neighborhood that can support a BBQ joint with $26 dollar fried chicken plates, $20 meatloaf and no traditional combination plates. These people need to go back to River Oaks where they belong. They need to retake their culinary classes that show chefs how to market a business. You are not going to make it in Spring Branch. When I heard the power couple, Patrick Feges and Erin Smith, was going to open their own BBQ joint, I was pumped. With their culinary backgrounds, they both possess a prowess in the kitchen and around the smoker. I always make Amber eat barbecue on our road trips, but we actually skipped it on our prior Houston visit. It was an easy sell to get her onboard with Feges. The menu is pretty diverse and has a nice focus on sides. My wife and I shared a meat spread of brisket, pork ribs, and turkey. I was planning to order pulled pork but forgot. Oops. We did not skimp on the sides and got loaded potato salad, sweet & spicy sprouts, braised collard greens, Moroccan spiced carrots, dirty rice, and cornbread. The brisket was wonderful with its peppery bark. It was Friday so the brisket was sourced from 44 Farms. The fat was rendered nicely, and the meat had a good flavor to it. Sometimes I think my wife is harder to please with brisket, but she gave her seal of approval on it. The pork ribs were good but nothing stood out about them. They were cooked well but no pop in taste. I was left wanting more. The turkey was juicy and flavorful. I do enjoy eating turkey now and always like when it is well executed. Good for those on who are on "diets." We loved all the sides except for the collard greens. Those were boring. The Moroccan spiced carrots and the Brussel sprouts stood out the most. They were very unique to see on a BBQ menu but tasted great. If these types of veggies were on barbecue menus more often, I would probably weigh 10 pounds lighter... It was a beautiful spread. We capped our meals off with the PB&J chocolate cake and banana & caramel cream pie. I hate peanut butter and am allergic to chocolate so the cake was all Amber's. She dug it. We brought some for a friend, and her husband ate it all. As of now, they are still together. The pie was like a banana pudding with a crust. You guys know I like banana pudding. I finished it off even though I was stuffed before even biting into it. When I heard that Feges BBQ was opening up in a food court in a business district, I was perplexed. It all makes sense now though. This is not their end game. It is actually just the beginning. They eventually will have their own standalone spot, but for now, please hit up Greenway Plaza. Beware of the danger! The 5 min walk from my office to Feges may result in permanentmeat sweats! I braved the lunch crowd at 12:30 and the pace of the line wasn't too bad. At that point they were only out of sausage. I got the 1 meat plate with brisket - point cut. The bark was nice and can appeal to all crowds. I prefer a little heavier black pepper, but that doesn't take away from the rest. The fat was cooked perfectly through so there wasn't large chunks in the middle or edges. This is an example of a brisket that does NOT need sauce since the meat was moist and flavorful. The Moroccan carrots and cucumber salad was a perfect side to lighten up the red meat dish. Ok it is strange to find such a wonderful BBQ place in an office food mall, but the location has its advantages (e.g. covered and close parking plus free parking once they validate). It is super good and relatively inexpensive. We went during the height of a lunch hour on Wednesday and faced only a five minute counter line. The brisket, pulled pork, and turkey were amazing - we liked how they put the collard greens on the brisket sandwich. I think what sets it apart may be the sides. We loved the corn, slaw and mashers. You can taste interesting spices and herbs like cilantro in their dishes. And of course we had to try the peanut butter and jelly chocolate cake which tasted like a PB&J made on chocolate bread. The 3 meat plate is super worth the price, so I'd recommend getting that so you can try everything! The sides are super creative and tasty, different from what you'd expect from a bbq place. So i chose to try the brisket and chicken; both were satisfying. I normally don't get so stuffed before returning to work but this meal stuffed me. Damn good bbq. First off, it's hidden in the greenway tunnels but still very accessible for the public. Let's get to the food, brisket (lean) is excellent. Their sides, carrots, Brussels sprouts are awesome. Downside, their sweet potato banana fosters is absolutely gross. I would prefer just regular mashed sweet potatoes. Another huge advantage is you clearly see the employees using gloves and kitchen concept is open= meaning their cleanliness is pretty darn good. Worth every penny. Highly recommend. After reading about this place for so long, we finally had a chance to try it. It was worth the trip into the city! The staff was super friendly and kept things moving quickly, and the food was delicious. I tried the 2 meat plate with turkey and brisket, cracklins, and collard greens. All of that hit the spot. The brisket was tender and had just enough seasoning. The turkey was moist and flavorful. The collard greens were seasoned well too. My husband enjoyed his brisket. The kids enjoyed the sausage and the pulled pork sandwich (which they easily made without toppings for my daughter) and the cracklins as well. The assortment of sauces were nice to try out. It was busy but easy to get our drinks and pick up the self serve pickles, sauces and bread. A staff member kindly offered to help me carry things. We plan to go back again. My husband is planning on getting coworkers to join him for lunch there. And the parking validation is much appreciated and helpful. One of my favorite BBQ places in Houston, hands down. I've had the opportunity to eat Patrick's brisket for years at many pop up events, festivals, & in the Greenway plaza and it has been consistently delicious every damn time. There is plenty of cozy seating in the plaza to indulge in the 2 meat plate and loosen a notch on the belt. (don't sleep on the elote corn salad) Will always recommend to friends in town looking for a chill lunch. I also really love the wife's supportive role in the IHWSH community and think there should be more women like her. read more
