After all the great reviews, I was expecting much more. It was ok, but basically your typical Sysco fair. Nothing homemade like I was hoping. Gravy was thick and goopy, chicken fried steak and okra had way too much breading, mac and cheese had no flavor. Service was good, and I guess for a small town, the restaurant was o.k. compared to Dairy Queen, but overall, it was pretty pricey for pretty cheap food. Feldman's isn't so much a diner as a traditional American restaurant, of which we've been making a habit lately. But it also feels a little more commercialized or mainstream than some. The space is open, the walls have new old memorabilia on them, and best of all there's a model train running above your heads. The menu is not simply "down-home" cooking. It's expansive like the "neighborhood bar and grill" concept, only there's no bar as far as I could tell. Certainly, there's Texas fried goodness as Robyn W. puts it, but there are also pastas, salads, and even a lighter options section. I enjoyed the Fettuccine Alfredo that comes with a house salad. I was disappointed it was too late to make it up to Amarillo, but Feldman's actually hit the spot. Yet another college town came through for us. read more

Stopped on the way home from camping. The reviews on YELP intrigued us. We were seated promptly the wait staff was friendly. We ordered off the large selection of menu items. The French fries were really good. Made up for the fact they do not serve onion rings. If you are a meat eater this is the restaurant for you. If you are a vegetarian go some place else. I initially was going to give this a four star until I went to the bathroom. It was awful. The floor was sticky and it just looked and felt dirty. read more

My wife and I were in town for 1 day to see Palo Duro Canyon. It was 9 PM and most of the restaurants were already closed. We just needed something to eat after riding almost all day from Dallas. We elected to get something lite, so I got the loaded baked potato soup and my wife got the chicken tortilla soup. We decided to get the Tortuga Chicken with queso and pico from the LIghter side of the menu. Everything was excellent. The soup wasn't extremely hot, the perfect temperature to eat right away and we were both pleased with our soup. When the Tortuga Chicken arrived, I wasn't sure I would like it, soley based on the look. I was SO wrong! It was AMAZING! I wished we had gotten the larger portion. But it REALLY hit the spot. We had to leave the next afternoon and we talked about going there for lunch. We just ran out of time. But if you go to Palo Duro, I HIGHLY recommend you go to Feldman's to eat. read more

This little sleepy town wakes you up in a big way at Feldman's Wrong Way Diner. Our server was Avery and we were very fortunate to have her. She was amazing! My wife and I just dropped in for dinner after hiking 2 miles in 2 hours at Palo Duro Canyon so we were famished. If you ever drop by, try the Chicken Poblano soup to start along with the fried pickles. They give you enough fried pickles to feed 6! The Caesar's salad was good along with Grilled Pork chops and Chicken Fried Steak. All normal fares in country kitchen restaurants but you'd be surprised how many eateries mess those dinners up. Not at Feldman's! For dessert, try the Bourbon Pecan Pie ssrved with vanilla ice cream all topped with caramel. Manna from heaven!! Be prepard to wait for 15 minutes or so if you drop by on Friday nights as Feldman's is pretty popular. Pffft, not impressed. An IHOP, Denny's, or Luby's would be a welcomed alternative to Feldman's. The food is a notch above school cafeteria food. I love big portions and fried food but Feldman's just can't deliver on taste. The batter is bland, the food being battered is bland, just underwhelming. Let me start off by saying, this place caters the food for the Texas Musical. It also has a train track with a working miniature train that chugs along over your heads. Let me first start off by saying, I'm on w clean eating thing right now. So, no fried, no heavy cream sauces, yada yada. I ordered a medium rare 6 oz sirloin, green beans and a salad. I will say the flavor of my steak was good, but the steak was cooked to almost well-done. Green beans are Italian green beans. They were tasty. My husband's steak was another story. He ordered the ribeye medium rare. While his steak was cooked to the correct temperature, it was seriously lacking in the seasoning department and looked a little boiled? Not sure how that happens. Ranch was legit. None of that bitter, bottled stuff here. My daughter ordered the Hawaiian Chicken and it was excellent! The chicken was cooked perfectly (not overdone and dry). It was served with rice and her choice of two sides (fried okra and fries). Not gonna lie. I tried a bite of her items because, hey, it was one meal and I needed to help you all out. Okra was good. Fries were battered and I didn't care for them. Now, on to dessert. I didn't order one. I chose to participate in the, "I'll take a bit of yalls so I can write a review." Sopapilla Cheesecake is good. However, they put this white coconut syrup on it. Next time, I'd ask for none of that and ice cream on the side. Coconut does not belong on sopapillas or cheesecake. (And I like coconut). The chocolate cake, ok, I might've made my daughter upset because I took three bites of that thing. Need I say more? Well, yes I do. They put that same white coconut syrup on the chocolate cake. STOP THAT! Other than that, it was divine! Worth another stop when I'm not in the throws of stick and twig food choices. Great home cooking with a tremendous environment. The trains entertain kids and they always have a game on for the guys. It's a little hard to find but once you do it's worth it. Service is always great and the chicken fry is great. Burgers are filling and worth every penny. Steak fingers maybe one of the best I have had. This place is great as long as you order something to do with fried chicken. Other than that, the food is terrible. This is the only restaurant I've ever been to that couldn't cook rice properly. This is probably the best restaurant in this area! I had the bacon-wrapped shrimp, and it could have been the most delicious thing to ever pass my lips! The shrimp was seasoned and cooked to the best shrimp can be cooked. The only thing and I mean the ONLY thing that didn't make it perfection was that the bacon was kind of chewy. Other than that it was a meal made in heaven. The sides I had were corn and French fries. The fries were good, nothing over the top. The corn is really good with butter. The service was great.
