I truly cannot say enough good things about this veterinary office. I brought my cat Edgar in last week after he had been vomiting consistently, and I was really anxious about what might be going on. From the moment I walked in, the entire staff was incredibly personable, knowledgeable, and genuinely attentive. I was seen right away at my appointment time. They listened carefully to all of my concerns, never made me feel rushed, and took the time to explain everything in a way that felt clear and reassuring. Following their guidance, I completely switched his diet and he hasn't vomited once since the visit and is eating regularly again. I'm so relieved and grateful for their thoughtful care. We're establishing primary care here for our girl and after the first visit, I'm already sold. Sweet front desk and medical staff that genuinely love cats and care about their well being - and very clear communication about care and next steps. Our girl had an eye infection and they helped connect us with a referral to an ophthalmologist (and called them to get us a quick appointment) ASAP. The complimentary nail trim was a nice bonus at the end. I loved that I felt welcome to ask questions and at no point did I feel pressured. They were very gentle in handling our cat and being able to be in the same room definitely kept her calm (not all veterinary practices allow you to be in the room). They're quite busy as a small practice, so schedule your appointments in advance! Would recommend to all UES cat parents. read more

My experience was terrible and may have resulted in the unnecessary death of my cat. Dr. Blair was unable to diagnose the problem. after doing expensive exams. She said he needed to see an internist at Animal Medical Center. The earliest appointment was a month away. The cat gradually stopped eating. During emergency appointments she missed signs of the problem and never did a proper inspection of his mouth. Had she, she would have discovered the problem - pollups under the tongue. She was not responsive to my concerns . Again. had she, she might have found the problem and my cat might have lived. read more

I highly recommend Feline Health. Dr. Blair is extremely thoughrough and clearly explained any treatment options that might be necessary for my cat, Daisy. Dr. Blair always kept me informed regarding test results and checked in on Daisy via email while she was going through her health issues, which have been resolved. Daisy is quite shy gets extremely nervous when out of her environment. Dr. Blair's veterinary assistants do a great job handling Daisy, which makes sense since cats are their only patients. Recently moved to the city and I was looking for a place to get my cat's annual dental cleaning done. Since putting your pet under anesthesia can be dangerous, I wanted to make sure I found a spot that was qualified. I found Feline Health through Yelp and saw that most of its reviews were good, and it was a plus that they specialized in cats. I visited twice. First time was to get Luna's blood test and check up, since it was her first time there. Second time was to drop her off to get her teeth cleaned. Both times, I had to wait quite a bit before someone was able to get to me, even though I was on time to my appointment. I only spoke to the actual vet, Dr. Blair, once, and I liked her from our brief interaction. She's personable and seemed genuinely interested in knowing more about Luna's behavior and personality beyond the surface-level physical. She told me Luna could gain some weight, which was unexpected since no veterinarian has ever told me that. But I've started feeding her more since. Besides the wait, the other reasons for the mediocre review is that when I picked up Luna from her dental cleaning, I immediately noticed the smell of cat poop coming form her carrier. I thought maybe she had pooped and maybe some had gotten on her fur. When we got home and I took her out, I was shocked to find she had completely soiled herself and her fur was matted with solid waste. I don't really know how none of the staff had noticed this smell. I understand they could have been busy but I had immediately noticed it when they handed over Luna's carrier. If they had addressed it earlier, it wouldn't have dried into her fur and become harder to clean up. I spent the next thirty minutes giving her a butt bath, cutting off the waste that had been matted onto her fur. I also noticed that although this was her third annual dental cleaning, she had never come home as loopy as she did this time. It was borderline dangerous, because she was running into objects and walls and trying to jump onto furniture but falling short. I tried to keep the poor thing in my lap as much as I could so she could avoid hurting herself. I had to help her into the litter box, after which she had diarrhea, which got all over her again so I gave her another butt bath. She wasn't really back to normal until the next morning. But starting the next day, I began feeding her an oral medicine because the vet said they had noticed her intestines were inflamed and that it might be worms. They didn't warn me that the medicine could cause diarrhea. The heads up would have been nice because it initially caused concern since I thought something was wrong. Plus, I could've anticipated it. Instead, I found out because when she sat on my bed, she left a nice brown stain on my white sheets. Luckily, since the last day of her medicine, the diarrhea (and the butt baths) have stopped. So overall, I'm not unhappy with the dental cleaning itself and I like the staff and Dr. Blair. But I wasn't a huge fan of how certain details were handled and the experience with Luna's dental cleaning was definitely not as smooth as it has been at my old vet. read more

Wow! What a fabulous experience I had with my cat Athena! I emailed them a few times, I was searching for a new Vet. Each reply to my email was incredible kind and professional. I just came back from my visit. I cannot RAVE enough how wonderful this experience was from the second I walked in the door. Extremely friendly and sweet! Macy and I had emailed and she's a doll in person. The Vet techs I met, and I'm sorry I don't remember their names were great! Efficient and again kind and considerate. To both myself and Athena! It's been a hellish few months. I went from thinking my cat had hairballs to having to say goodbye to her in the course of two months. The specialist I went to was horrible but Dr. Blair has responded to my every email and question with compassion and help. It's a small practice and I know she probably deals with so much all day and I read reviews saying they felt rushed or she was rough. I just didn't see That. This is New York City. We as a people are like this. I rather appreciate the fact that a practice can be quick yet thorough. At the end of the day I lost my soulmate and a cat who rescued me but J will never forget the attention, help and kindness Dr Blair and her staff showed me. I look forward to bringing my other cat and future cats to her for their care. Both my cat and I had an upsetting experience here when we came in for a routine check-up. I felt that Dr. Blair's bedside manner left something to be desired, as she was a bit rough, and the appointment felt rushed. I was given a diagnosis at the end of the appointment with little explanation, then was coldly ushered out the door, given a generic handout, with no paperwork about the appointment. My cat has never reacted so negatively to a vet, and I left feeling sad and confused. Because of this experience, we will be looking for a different vet. read more

We scheduled an appointment for our cat who has been a patient of Dr. Blair's for almost a year. We never received a confirmation call or email about our appointment time, so we called beforehand to confirm the time. No one answered so we left a voicemail and decided to head to the vet with our cat. On the way there, they called back and told us that we had missed our 11am appointment so they couldn't take our cat -- it was only 11:04am and we were one block away! The receptionist was unwilling to help coordinate another appointment that day and suggested the first open time five days later. We were so turned off by the entire ordeal that we will not be returning. If their scheduling is so tight that they can't even see someone who's five minutes late, then maybe they have enough cats at their practice already. read more

I only took my cat here once but unfortunately it wasn't a pleasant experience as I have fibromyalgia and a communication disorder. They state on their website that the first appointment would be only be $50, yet I left paying a $400 bill. I wanted to take my cat back for follow up and explained my disability and limited funds. Dr Blair is more interested in keeping her practice on a tight leash than on caring about the health of the animals that are brought in.Her staff has very strict instructions yo double check the address and identity of the petowners even the ones who have been there for more than 25 years and to make sure that the office policy s adhered to. All exchanges between the pet owners and Dr Blair and the owners are done via the assistants. The owners are strictly forbidden to be present during the examination this certainly is an additional stress factor for the animal and prevents to have a timely flow of information between the owners and the vet. Their staff was incredibly rude (one of the worst experiences I've had as a patient/customer in years), and the vet recommended a course of action that landed my cat in the emergency room. Between the emergency room, my cat's new vet, and this place, I had by far the worst experience at Feline Health. I won't take my cats to any other vet. I've been coming here for 15 years, initially with Dr. Kepner and now with Dr. Blair. Dr. Blair is the best. She is very knowledgeable and available to speak openly and often about problems or concerns. She's always available via email. One of my cats had noise induced seizures which Dr. Blair took extra precautions to manage every time we came in. She's helped me keep two very senior kitties happy and healthy and when we finally had to say goodbye to one of them at 21 years old, she was extremely sympathetic and made the entire process as comforting as possible. I brought my very old, very sick cat, Winston, to FH when I first moved to the city two years ago. FH gave him the best fighting chance which provided 3 extra months with my best friend. He is unafraid to take on even the most angry of cats and will still do so with love and careful attention. Michael and Dmitri are amazing technicians who are just as devoted to the care of the animals as Dr. K. He handles your cat with extreme professionalism while still making you and your buddy feel as comfortable as possible. Eric is devoted to care of the facility and proper treatment of your animals. Whether it is just for boarding purposes, a rabies vaccine or serious treatment, your cat will be cared for as tenderly as you would. Dina, Mindy and Jill are more knowledgeable about care of cats (be it safety at home, travel abroad, homeopathic remedies, adoption, etc) than internet and books combined. They have devoted their lives to becoming cat masters and so, altogether, the staff at Feline Health is above and beyond exceptional. Initial fees, visits and treatments may seem expensive, but it is a small price to pay for the treatment you will receive at FH. We have three cats that we take to Feline Health, and we have always had a good experience here. When we started seeing Dr. Blair, we had one cat and lived only a few blocks away. We now have three and live in Brooklyn, but still take them to this UES vet because we love them so much. Dr. Blair is incredibly knowledgeable and you can tell she truly cares about the well-being of your pets. The staff are also great and very thorough. Everyone there absolutely loves cats and work hard to make sure yours receive the best care. On our last visit, we brought in all three at once for a variety of tests. The staff came out in the middle of the visit to update us and give us a couple different options on the tests they could run. I really appreciated this because they gave us the option to go with a cheaper set of tests--we ultimately chose to spend the extra money for a more comprehensive set of tests, but given the cost, I was so happy they asked us first and allowed us to make that decision with price in mind. read more

Dr. Kepner is a cat god. He always remembers my two boys' names and takes the time to explain everything to me after each visit. He and his team are seriously experts at diagnosis. I love Feline Health because you don't feel they are doing unnecessary tests to rack up an even higher bill like other vets. They only do what is necessary. This last bill actually came out less expensive than their estimate. Feline Health is so good to my two boys. I don't trust anyone else with my older fat cat, Dexter. My younger cat Binx had his teeth cleaned yesterday and needed four extractions. He's better than ever today with no pain and his teeth have never looked so good. They were super accommodating to my work schedule too, coming in a little early so I could drop him off before work, and letting him rest all day until i could pick him up at the end of the day. Mindy is a great communicator and answered all my questions as a nervous cat mom patiently all week leading up, and I can not remember the receptionist's name (sorry!), but she is so great and accommodating, too, as she's the one who came in early to take Binx. We went to our first appointment at Feline Health last weekend. Our recently adopted cat already had some conditions that we wanted to check out. Over the first 2 weeks of having her we started noticing other symptoms and went to another vet to check her up, but we felt very rushed all the time and certain incidents made us lose trust in them. Fortunately we found Feline Health. They were very nice to take us in after hours as our cat was throwing up all over the place and we were very concerned. The technician thoroughly went over our cat's diet and medications, and was very patient and kind throughout the nail clipping process. After that we saw Dr. Kepner, who did a very thorough checkup of our cat. He explained everything to us in detail and we were very happy that we took our cat here. My first review was "deleted". Dr. Blair does NOT take a history of the pet with the owner. She relies on her assistants to talk to the owner. In fact one doesn't see her until the exam is over and the pet is back in the carrier in the reception area. She also does not allow owners to come into the exam room so that a useful dialog can occur between the owner who knows the cat best and herself. Relying on second hand information to formulate a diagnosis is questionable. When one questions her diagnosis she becomes defensive and walks out of the reception room. Do NOT take your cat here for any treatment at all EVER! I've never experienced a more disorganized vet clinic that just upcharges you for extra visits you don't need. One appointment I showed up for and they said they didn't have me in their system even though I called that morning to confirm, they then apologized for the mistake blaming it on their computer systems that never seem to work and proceeded to claim to try to test my cat for urinary issues but said her bladder was empty and it was close to 5pm so my guess is the technician just wanted to go home early because 10 min later my cat and I returned to my house just for her to fully use the litter box with a full amount of urine, proving she DID have urine in her bladder they just couldn't be bothered to test it clearly or maybe even tested the wrong cat, I wouldn't be surprised considering how disorganized they are as they've brought me back the wrong cat before. I then proceeded to take her back for multiple tests that the vet was pressuring me to get resulting in about $400 in tests just for it to all come back negative. She was clearly a healthy cat they just wanted more tests to make me spend more money. A couple months later I called them back to get a prescription for a drug that would help my cat travel which they had previously prescribed to me with no problem a year prior but this time they said they wanted me to bring her in and get weighed before writing the prescription even though they had seen my cat a couple months before and she was perfectly healthy. I asked if I could just weigh her myself as I knew I would get charged for the visit and they declined saying they wouldn't allow that. So they were going to charge me just to weigh my cat and do nothing else and wouldn't let me weigh my own cat? How ridiculous is that, they simply just wanted to upcharge me for another useless visit. I called another vet in the UES (Bond Vet) and they helped me right away with no problems and no charges for a prescription unlike Feline Health. I would highly recommend going to Bond Vet instead as they are cheaper, provide more quality care, and are very organized. Feline Health has been stating computer systems being the problem of their disorganization for the last year and a half when the fact is they are just unorganized. Do not make a vet appointment with them ever, I'd give lower than 1 star as a review if I could. read more

I've just left my first visit to Feline Health and I am so pleased with how it went. I've recently moved to UES and hadn't yet found a vet, but my kitty suddenly started having blood in her urine this weekend so I needed to find someone ASAP. My stepdad recommended Feline Health, as he used to go years ago when he was a NYC resident, and said they are fabulous - he is so right. The receptionist kindly squeezed me in for a 12:30 appointment, same day I called, after I explained my cat's situation. I arrived about 15 minutes early and she processed my cat's records so that everything was ready when Dr. Kepner saw me. During the visit, Dr. Kepner spent time petting and talking to my cat; examined my cat's ears and teeth in depth; actually cleaned one of her teeth which appeared dirty; reviewed her vaccinations with me and allowed me to choose which I wanted her to have; gave her a rabies shot (the one we decided on doing); and showed me how to administer the pain medication to my cat. He did a urinalysis and said the results would be in next day. He also gave me a pain medication that I took home for my cat. Since this was my first visit, the exam fee was 50% off. This is a very kind offering. It was much less expensive of a visit than I'd anticipated, and we got a lot done! I got her pain medication, rabies vaccine, check up, etc. all in about one hour of time and for a fraction of the anticipated cost. Everything about this place just oozed quality and expertise. The facility is clean and lovely; the staff were all kind and the receptionist even provided me a breakdown of all the costs of the visit with a smile; Dr. Kepner was able to explain everything clearly and kindly to me. I'm very glad I found this place and can now rest easy knowing I have a local vet who can help my cat if anything comes up. read more

I came here because I couldn't get my cat to my regular vet and she wasn't feeling well. I picked this place because most of the reviews were positive, and as a pet owner, I only want what is best for my cat. However, my experience here was far from that. When we first got to the clinic everything was fine. I spoke to the nurse and let her know that I don't want any painful procedure done to my cat unless it was absolutely necessary. She seemed fine with that. However, when the doctor came in to examine my cat, he didn't seem to care what I want. My cat had been through some bad vet experiences and she feels much calmer when I hold her or at least pet her. When I tried to hold her in this office the vet gave me a talking saying that I can't touch my cat in his office. Now, I completely understand that if my cat bites me, that isn't a very good thing, but she is my pet, and ultimately I don't care if she bites me, as long as she feels better. After this unpleasant interaction the doctor called the nurse in and started performing the procedure I specifically asked him not to. He didn't bother talking to me about it and completely ignored everything I had to say. When my giant cat started trying to get away, I tried to hold her body still. At this point the doctor let go of her, started SCREAMING at me saying "DIDN'T I TELL YOU NOT TO TOUCH YOUR CAT?!?!". I was so shocked I didn't know what to do. I asked him who does he think he is to talk to me like that. His response? "take your cat and get out!" Let me mention that I will NEVER come back here again and don't recommend anyone, who treats their cat as part of the family, to come here. I have never been so disrespected in my life. I should also mention that now I am going back to my regular vet because my cat is still not feeling well. Either way, this guy is more concerned about money and people "suing him" than for the actual pets. Definitely not a vet I would ever trust with my cat. read more

I have had quite an episode with this vet and I'm pretty sure they hate my guts. Although the way they work is probably just like any other vet, I would say that I would never go back here or tell anyone about this place again. There needs to be a balance between pet customer service and human customer service. My newly adopted 5 month old cat swallowed a piece of toy and it was going to cost about $2,500 to get her fixed. Well, since that was just about the worst news ever, my husband and I admitted that we couldn't afford that. We just didn't have that kind of money upfront and we had JUST rescued her 2 months ago. The ASPCA was going to take her back since that's where I had gotten her. I could tell that they judged me harshly and felt like I was the worst human being ever. They even said really meanly "they're going to euthanize her, did you know that?" I knew that the ASPCA is a non-kill shelter and even confirmed with them that they would do the surgery and put her up again for re-adoption. But what an INCREDIBLY CRUEL thing to say to someone?!?! The worst part was that even though I had racked my brain about funds and cried all about my cat, they treated me like someone who was being so inhumane and ridiculous because I couldn't cover the costs. They said things like "well you really shouldn't leave things lying around!" (I'm actually SUPER careful and clean, but she ate a piece of her toy.) I got into a fight with Dr Goldman because he kept "telling" me (I write that in quotes because he was pretty much yelling at me) how inhumane this was that I left her there to suffer. (Have you ever had someone yelling at you and then yell that they're NOT yelling at you?) I asked him to please calm down because he was making me hysterical and he said "I AM CALM! KJDFLKJDKLDLS..." He talked on and on for like 5 minutes without taking a breath. They said that it had already been 3 hours and how could we just abandon her. First off, my husband already told them he'd be a few hours because he needed to get off work. Secondly, they did not let me know that this was an urgent matter until the very last minute when they suddenly decided to go berserk on me. Had I known it was as urgent as they made it seem (seriously, all of a sudden!) then of course I would have asked to leave work or something! But at the moment they were yelling at me, my husband was already on his way over. They were even saying that it was SO URGENT that they would sent a cab over! What the... can you at least tell me after ONE HOUR and not three?? Why is it so urgent all of a sudden? Another bad thing is that I didn't feel like they LISTENED... They were all talking over me, going onnn and onn so I couldn't get a word in edgewise to explain that the cat was NOT going to die. She was scheduled for surgery the minute she got into the ASPCA and that she'd be up for adoptions again. I actually hung up on Dr. Goldman after he said "well actions speak louder than words." It was too painful. I've already cried all night and felt horrible, I didn't need to feel any worse. It's so unnecessary for vets to get all personal with you on the phone during such emotional times. When I FINALLY was able to get in a word, and explained myself, they lifted their tone a bit and said "Well you know, all we care about is the cat's health." WELL DUH, ME TOO BUDDY. It's just very condescending to speak to the pet owner like that, when I've already set everything up for the cat to be well taken care of after tons of research and calling. It's like they assumed the very worst with me and felt very righteous, high and mighty. So yes, they care for animals. But for humans? Once they think you're in the wrong, they don't give a crap. Dr. Blair and the team at Feline Health have provided exceptional care to my three cats, Kevin, Lucho, and Calor. Not only do they know and remember me, but they have gotten to know each cat's personality and are able to expertly address their individual needs. I am so happy I found Feline Health!! When my cat turned one she started to get runny eyes and wheezy- it was mild but persistant. I lived in NC at the time and brought her to the best vet in the city and they said she probably has allergies and gave me some meds to use as needed. Her allergies continued and I continued to refill the meds and give them to her every other week for about 3 years. I then moved to Boston and when she was due her shots I had her 'allergies' examined. This vet said to try Lysine. I did and it helped a bit, but still was congested and woke herself up at night coughing. She was never sick but had chronic wheezing/coughing. She also mentioned that the meds I had been giving to her for 4 years shouldn't be used long-term as they could cause harm to her kidneys, liver, etc. Um... hey NC vet, why did you keep refilling the rx if that was the case!!?? UGHH When I moved to NYC I thought 'third time's the charm'. She isn't getting better and I don't want to resort to the rx that has long-term effects. Dr Goldman was fantastic! He is super personable and was great with my scared cat (I mean, everytime she's at a vet she's getting a shot! Why would she like them?) He did a very thorough exam and was extremely knowledgeable. He explained that it could a wide variety of things and you start with A and work your way to Z. Although he suggested some expensive lab work, he was willing to let me start with the baseline labwork to determine if the 4 years of med had damaged my girl at all. He also gave me a new RX for only 14 days. For 4 years my cat has been dealing with upper respitroy issues, and in 4 days of what Dr Goldman perscribed fixed her!! It has been 3 weeks since her appointment and not one cough, sneezy, runny eye. THANK YOU FELINE HEALTH!!!!!! You finally made her day to day life comfortable and you are just awesome in my book! The ONLY reason I don't give them 5 stars is because of the expensive lab work offered that wasn't necessary to do right away, and the overall exam and pills were expensive. I am so happy I found Feline Health. I've been the mommy to a very healthy kitty for the past 6 years. Unfortunately she was just diagnosed with kidney failure (we're not sure if it's CRF, ARF, or some other ailment, it's very odd for a 6 year old cat to have kidney failure) and the staff at Feline Health has been so helpful and accommodating. My appointments have been with Dr. Goldman and Dr. Pirotin and they are both incredibly knowledgeable and always open and receptive to the million questions I've had over the past few days. My love was hospitalized with them for 4 days, and they allowed me to come visit and hang out with her for as long as I wanted each day, which I (and my kitty) really appreciated. I know its hard finding a vet you trust with your beloved cats health, and I'm just so happy and grateful that I found such an excellent clinic without a recommendation. With that being said, I highly recommend them to anyone needing health care for their kitty. I cannot sing high enough praise for them! read more
