Very good Mexican establishment. Love love love there white creamy chip dip they bring out on the complimentary chips and salsa. Hands down best I've had. I always get the Cardinal special which is just grilled chicken rice and queso all blended together. It a very large plate and very tasty. Between that and the mystery white salsa it keeps me coming back. This particular location is very tiny but yet you still do not feel over crowded. Service is always solid. BE CAREFUL HERE! We were overcharged for multiple items. We came during happy hour and ordered the $4 margaritas, our bill reflected $7 each, wtf? They asked us if we wanted guacamole and although we never get it, I said sure, why not? $13.99! The menu said $7.49 so I'm not even sure where that exorbitant price came from. This used to be a spot for my wife and I to go to often. But shortly after we starting going there was this weird Mexican bald guy who would make us both insanely uncomfortable and hit on me. He was obviously gay which is nothing wrong with but every time my wife would get up to use the rest room he would come to the table and say really weird things to me. The cream sauce reminds me of a cool ranch flavor. For the meal I recommend the fajita quesadilla with chicken or shrimp, both are tasty! Pictured is the naked burrito bowl with chile lime chicken/black beans/rice/pico de gallo/sour cream and cheese on top. It was $6 Naked Burrito Bowl Monday so it wasn't bad for the price. My favorite is still the fajita quesadilla. Tip-the Chile lime chicken is tasty just spicy and I consider myself someone who enjoys heat on my food. My real concern however was the burrito bowl that my sister ordered. It was prepared with ground beef however she found shards of bones in her bowl that after a few bites she stopped eating it altogether. Senor Iguanas opened in this Outer Loop location maybe a year and a half or two years ago, my memory fails me. Anywho, I live literally 2 minutes from here and didn't go until YESTERDAY. Shameful, I know. My boyfriend and I wanted an early dinner heading to a Yelp event (Yelp is my social life) and meandered over around 5 pm. Parking was ample and we had zero wait. The restaurant itself is larger inside than I expected and seems clean. Quickly our waitress appeared and took our drink orders. Monday through Thursday they have $2.99 small margaritas and $4.99 large ones. Feeling that 'treat yoself' vibe, I ordered a small. It came out lightning quick with a fresh orange and lime slice on the rim. Took a sip, mmm. Couldn't take the booze at all. Dangerously fun. In typical Mexican restaurant fashion, we get chips and salsa for the table. I was surprised when this white aoili type dip came with the salsa. (I later learned the white salsa is .99 cents.) The salsa had a kick to it so I ended up first dipping my chip in the white stuff then taking a scoop of the regular salsa. My boyfriend chastised me for mixing them, but yolo I did him a favor because he cannot handle spice. You're welcome boo. Since it was a Thursday I ordered their special, $6 chimichangas. I got the shredded chicken one. The BF got a taco salad. Within about 8 minutes our dishes came out. At first I thought the chimichanga was teeny, but as I cut into it, I realized it was stuffed with chicken. I ate half and saved the rest for lunch today. Choice of refried beans or black beans and rice. Enough to fill you up for sure! If you receive a greeting upon entering it is poor. Yesterday I went mid afternoon and was greeted with "how many?" I advised 1 and was seated. Let to sit for several minutes before I was asked for my drink request, when I received my requested water several more minutes later I was still never greeted. Since I never opened my menu since I knew what I wanted that should have been a sign of this. Anyway I waited about 7 more minutes with my water,no chips & salsa I opted to leave. Very good food and service. I recommend you try the carnitas quesadilla or street tacos. They have enough flavor in the meat that I didn't even add hot sauce, and I add hot sauce to many meals. The chips had a bit of a fryer oil taste so they were not great, the house special dip was good (explained as a salad dressing type dip with spice and a little sugar). They had a nice big tent set up outside for outdoor seating and to watch the show. The service was pretty good. We shared an order of single fajitas and it was more than enough for us. After dinner we tried the churros for dessert and we were not disappointed. I would definitely like to go back. The beer was ice cold, the food was good and the dessert was a great way to top it all off. The do also offer complimentary chips and salad which is always a plus in my book. I love this restaurant. The employees and owner are great and attentive. It's a great spot to hang out for a bit or for a quicker dinner. I've tried many of their specials and enjoy them all. Every weekday is a different special which is nice! They also offer discounts for GE (and a few others too). My husband always gets the authentico tacos and I usually get the cardinal special. Their salsa is different and more authentic. All their queso dips are great. I've never ordered anything I didn't like. Portions are big too so I usually have enough for lunch the next day too, which I'm a fan of.
