This place has decent fried chicken and is way better than any fast food fried chicken I've had, but isn't my favorite chicken in St. Louis, but I do like it a lot. The atmosphere is a little more rustic than I typically like too and this place is usually very busy, but I was able to get a seat at the bar. It wasn't the first time I've eaten there and probably not the last. Although I usually don't eat at restaurants that don't have at least a few craft beers which this place didn't have that I could tell, so I had wine instead since I don't drink mass brewery beers. We went in for dinner with friends and were not pleased with the food or service we received. We placed our order and waited and waited and wait, probably over an hour. When our food finally came out it came out one item at a time. I was waiting for my pizza to come out and ended up waiting another 10 minutes or so before it came out. The pizza was overloaded with onion and undercooked. I ate it because I didn't want to wait any longer for my food. We were given no explanation as to why the food was so late coming out and were not compensated for our time or the way the food came out. We did not complain. We also noticed the 2 waitress's that were there were too busy to check on us because they were talking, laughing and doing shots with people at the bar. When it was time for our bill, our waitress took forever getting our check. She said we didn't charge you for your drinks because of the time it took for you to get your food. We all think we should have been comped with something more than just free sodas. We will not be returning! read more

The food is great when you finally get it and it isn't covered in exhaled vape smoke. The service we received tonight was abysmal. Which is unfortunate because I'm in the area every other week with my girlfriend and her family because her kids have gymnastics lessons nearby. The ambiance is nice, it has a small town bar feel to it, its cozy. There are lots of TVs and they're cool about putting on whatever sporting event you want to watch on the TV that's best in your view. The staff is friendly, they just aren't responsive. It took over an hour for us to get our food, which I understand there are sometimes extenuating circumstances, especially at dinner time, which can lead to slower food service, and we were a group of 4 adults and 3 children. Fried chicken can take a while to cook, I get it. I usually wouldn't complain or write a negative review just for that. But there was a woman at the end of the bar near the entrance to the kitchen who was either an employee who was off her shift, or possibly a regular (whomever she was she was very chummy with the staff) who was vaping. She exhaled her vape smoke directly into the entrance of the kitchen where food was staged to go out to customers. The cloud literally rolled directly over the food which was then served to another table. I didn't see our waitress for a while, and I didn't want to say anything in front of the rest of my party who was already agitated from waiting so long, so I notified the bartender who had originally sat us and taken our drink order about the vaping. The bartender apologized and said he would notify the manager. Our waitress checked on us again to refill drinks, and then one more time to bring us to-go boxes, but didn't offer to bring us the check at that point, and then we never saw her again. The bartender was also missing in action, so we had to ask the kitchen staff for our check. My girlfriend's kids were falling asleep at the table while we were waiting for the check for at least 10 minutes by this point, so we had to leave while her parents stayed behind to take care of the bill since they drove separately. It took another 15 minutes after we left before her parents could get the check, which was eventually brought by the bartender who was well aware of the vaping issue. The bartender said he thought the waitress had taken care of the check already. No compensation was requested by us or offered by the bartender for our negative experiences. My girlfriends dad said he never saw the waitress again after we left. I can understand it being the tail end of the dinner rush and it taking a long time to get food for a 7-top table. But employees (or possibly employee's friends who are sitting long-term at the bar) vaping on the food, and staff disappearing when basic services haven't been offered to the customer (like paying the bill) is just bad business. That place was a rip off. I went on yelp and it said for an inexpensive burger, fries and drink Fergie's and I went in every price that was on yelp was wrong. It showed a burger for like double cheeseburger for like 650 and they didn't have nothing on the menu to show the price so I ordered a double cheeseburger which should've been 650 and breaded mushrooms it showed 650 and fries didn't even come with a burger. He said oh for a small charge you know you can add fries so I'm thinking OK it's gonna be about $15 all of a sudden he charges me like $23.96 and I'm like what that's not right and I didn't wanna make a big deal about it so I asked to see the menu and there were no prices on there so the only thing I could figure is everything was three and four dollars higher than what it was and you don't even get fries with a burger I mean you get a double cheeseburger, fries and bread mushrooms and it runs you $24 when Yelp had it down as about 15 bucks I wouldn't go back there and the service was so slow. We've been a few times and this is a general review on our visits on the whole. The service has been slow every time we've been but to be fair it's always been somewhat busy. We've never been at peak hours but it still has been practically full. I would hate to see it during actual dinner time! The food we've ordered has always been good. Nothing stands out that is out of this world and nothing has been bad. The fried chicken is the same recipe as they have at Hodak's. It depends on how you like your fried chicken but chances are you'll appreciate what they offer here. We will certainly be back. Under new management in the COVID era, their staff are definitely striving to maintain safety standards as well as provide the high quality of food and atmosphere long expected by loyal customers. For the most part, Fergies has kept consistency in changing times. Our order tonight consisted of takeout: a burger, a beef sandwich, and a generous portion of potato skins. The food was ok. We ordered the chicken which was over salted and it took 50 minutes after ordering to get it to our table. The ambiance is definitely bar like and smells of dirty dishrags. Just couldn't get that smell out of our noses. Half the staff that waited on us was pleasant, however the waitress was a little rude, did not care for her. A group that came in about 15 minutes after us was served before us. That did irritate me a bit. The waitress must have walked by our table a half dozen times or so and never cleared our salad plates. They have very small tables and we finally moved our plates to the table next to ours after the customers there left just to get them out of our way. When we asked about the long wait the waitress got snippy and we waited another 10 minutes for our food. We were finally served after a 50 minute wait. There was a party that came in about 30 minutes after us, and they seemed to be more concerned with them than us. The gentleman that waited on us was very nice and apologetic for our wait. Probably the nicest thing I can say about the place. Don't think I will be going back to dine in. I have heard a lot of good things about the place so maybe it was an off day for them. Waited a nice long whole to get drinks. Took longer to get our order placed. Food took so long to cook that we were there for an hour - no offer for a refill of drinks and had to take the food to go. Opened food in the car and fries were soggy - medium sandwich had no pink - medium well was overdone. Just sad.
