I'd been to Cafe Telegraph a few times over the years. However, this was my husband's first time. He had a craving for a big bbq pork steak and the Fred Flintstone 3 pounder did not disappoint. This thing is huge. It comes with two sides. He went with a baked potato and baked beans. I ordered the Lutheran South White Fish grilled. You can order the fish breaded/fried or blackened as well. My sides were a baked sweet potato and vegetable medley. Big plate as well! We both thought our potatoes tasted a little off. The veggie medley is made with fresh broccoli, cauliflower and squash. Grilled as well. Highly recommend this side. Of course, my husband had to take home part of the pork steak. But, we still made room to split a piece of apple pie. Service was friendly. Atmosphere is hopping with live music on a Saturday night. There are quieter areas in the restaurant if you prefer that. We loved that the menu items are named after churches in South St Louis Area. I'm going to start with a quick note: We almost skipped this establishment because of the tone of the responses to negative reviews, not because of the reviews themselves, rather the condescending replies. I get it, it's hard not to take them personally, still... it's the first impression. We were in town at the Jefferson Barracks Cemetery & decided to stop in for a bite to eat & to continue our family visit for a bit, before flying back home. The building is large & easy to find/access, with plenty of parking and ample space in the spots. On entry there was a sign to see hostess for seating. Easy peasy. We walked in around 430pm as a party of 6 & were seated right away. We went to the left on entry, and were greeted by a large open air dining space and bar top. Tate was our server & she was excellent at keeping us informed, as well as offering some solid suggestions. My chicken was fabulous, I loved the lemon sauce & the cheesy potatoes were delicious as well. The slaw, though fresh, was a fail for us - maybe it needed a bit longer to take on the dressing. Other dishes that we enjoyed at the table were the beans, brisket & pulled pork. The only pass was on the slaw. Prices were reasonable, glasses were never empty & service, again, was excellent. The third time I finally talked to someone. Said it would 30-45 minutes wait for the food. Told her that's fine. Order the pork steak. Sorry, we're out of pork steaks. How are you out of pork steaks on a Friday at 7pm. Guess there's no pork steaks this weekend. Didn't even get her the rest of the order. What a great find! Came to St Louis to pick up a new hat for my husband and found this gem. We had the pork tenderloin sandwich and the fish basket special. Everything was on point! Cafe Telegraph is a super casual huge restaurant. Their menu is about the size of the building. It's gigantic and they have just about every thing you could think about ordering at a restaurant. A fun concept they have is that all of their menu items are named after local schools. The food is also delicious. Giant pork steaks, delicious wraps, perfectly cooked sides. I haven't had a bad experience. They are decent for groups because their restaurant is so big. I believe they have at least 2-3 different eating/sitting areas. The sweet potato was halfed, but the coleslaw was vinegar-based and was healthy. My only real problem was the description included a side salad... Popped in for a late lunch/early dinner around 3:45pm on a Saturday. We were so hungry and my biggest regret was not taking photos of our food. We have been here before, but tonight was spot on with service and food! I highly recommend the house dressing for the salad (which, BTW, happily does NOT include any iceberg). My bubbie got the giant pork steak which is enough for 3-4 meals. The baked potatoes were perfect. I got the Chicken Modega (minus mushrooms and bacon) and it was perfect! I'm always a tad leery of breaded chicken because so many times it's pre breaded or too greasy. Huge surprise to know that it's have breaded and very light/airy. Sooo good! We got there at 6:30 and we ordered drinks and that took about 15 minutes to get, then placed our order and it took 45 minutes to get our food. My friend got the 5lb pork steak! It was fork tender and delicious. My sandwich the fox hound was terrible. The bread was crouton hard. The steak had grissell in every bite. The waiter did make it right and took the sandwich off the bill and brought me a complimentary bowl of chicken and dumplings. That's why my rating is a three. read more

Steak Fries they cut season and fry, appearance may not be as appealing but the seasoning and the fact they are fresh more than makes it worth it. They were very good. My wife loved the Pork tenderloin, it was thick but still tender she was glad the sauce was served on the side and she enjoyed the sweet potatoes. I drank fresh brewed sweet tea and my wife had Yuengling flight, if you like beer can never go wrong with Yuengling Beer. Server came to our table kept drink full and brought a container for my wife leftover she wanted. I never had to look for the server. So bill was $46.50 with the beer, and yes we noticed on the bill two prices for after 3 is cheaper, Jordan was a great server and a good sport as they List Yuengling as a craft beer, like saying Ford is a custom car.
