Solid pub to hang out at if you're looking for a casual, no frills spot that also serves decent food for a pub. They have a lot of beers on tap, and they usually have some craft beers to choose from. There is a wide variety of beers, ranging from belgians, IPAs, sours, stouts, etc. They also have a full bar available, and prices are very reasonable. I would also highly recommend coming for their Happy Hour, which is M-F from 4pm to 6:30pm. Came by yesterday evening (a Monday). Very nice that the whole little street, Murphy Ave, near the train tracks was closed. Lots of outdoor dining options available in the days of Covid distancing. Unfortunately, you have to order food in order to order alcohol. But no problem, dinner eventually had to be eaten as well. Nice that Monday happy hour was still in effect. So we had $8 burgers (+ side). Some options small up charge ($1.5 for sweet potato fries.). But no charge for regular fries, salad or coleslaw. Pleasantly surprised w the 1/2lb burgers. Fibbars! My gosh I hadn't been here in 10-15 years or so. My old highschool friends and I came here for ol times sake 2 weekends ago and it was everything we'd hope it would be-- same food, 00s beats paired with our remembered ambience circa 2009. So grateful this place hasn't renovated or upgraded their tables to be honest. Weird comment I'm sure for those who aren't bay area natives but the charm of Fibbars is the coziness. I couldn't remember how the food was before (it's been too long) but I can confirm their pizza is great! Sandwich and potato skins are typical pub food. Having eaten at a restaurant a couple doors down a couple nights earlier is how we arrived here. The restaurant followed covid protocol. There were a few open tables. Server was quick to bring menus and take our drink orders. With Thanksgiving behind us and Christmas on the horizon, I was starting to feel the holiday cheer. Not sure what prompted me to get kicked out if I'm not causing trouble. It's my first time coming here and was taking a short walking break from the heat. I asked solely for water and was going to spend only 10 minutes at the most. The bartender walked up and asked for the third time if I was ordering anything when I already told her I was going to take off soon. She berated me about going to a public library nearby and that they're a 'private business' when I saw another customer with a glass of water and he wasn't getting singled out like I was. I'm not a homeless person nor some gang member yet I get singled out. I truly felt discouraged from this place in a small and uninteresting town called Sunnyvale. This place is always hot or miss with us. We stopped going because service was so bad. Bad to us is rude. We don't mind waiting but when staff is rude we will just pass. We were in the area while waiting for the car to be serviced and we ventured in downtown Sunnyvale and stopped there since it had the most amount of people in the afternoon. I got denied entry last Saturday. Bouncer at the door looked at me funny since I walked up. He then looked at my ID like he had never seen one before. He tried finding so many flaws with it and started quizzing me. Asking my address, date of birth, and DL#. Surprised he didn't start asking for me social security. I asked if something was wrong. *Late night review Downtown Sunnyvale is a pretty chill place to hang out, people watch and grab food and drink. I stopped by Fibbar around 10ish PM just to grab a drink while I waited for friends. Fibbar has plenty outdoor seating that is covered and they have heating lamps. I was able to grab a seat outside and ordered a pint of Guinness. The beer was good and the service was quick. The menu is just a QR code and they'll give you a life alert button to press when you want to grab your servers attention. It is just a short walk from downtown Sunnyvale and very well lit. Fibbar Magee's was busy, but not too full. They have 50% off a bottle of wine on Wednesdays here! I joined my friends at the table they'd already gotten which had a great view of Murphy Avenue and the band. The 2019 sauvignon blanc wine from Napa Cellars that they ordered was also really good. The Irish bread didn't quite resemble the soda bread I'd had in Ireland and was a little dry. My chips were also a bit overcooked and tasted more burned than like potatoes. There was also one person playing electronica music on his phone at the table next to us at full volume, which made it really hard to hear anything anyone said. Overall, not great. Not surprised this place doesn't even have 4 stars... the staff last night pissed me off. TWICE 2 of my drinks were taken when they weren't even have done. Me and a friend were sitting at a table outside, we go back in for another round for her but my beer was at the table, maybe still 60% full, more than half for sure and the staff took it!! I asked them to make me another and they did but then me and my friend moved to the bar and sat down, after we finished the beer we had, we got cranberry and vodka. I maybe had 2 sips of it, turned around to look at who was on the dance floor, and all while STILL seating right there at the bar, I turn around and they took my cranberry and vodka that I barely drank (and that drink wasn't cheap!!!), an absolute waste of my hard earned money!!!! Haven't visited in forever but when I was back in Sunnyvale and strolling through, they had all the tents out and wine barrels as tables. Really cute. The fried zucchini is something you should not miss. One time I had 4 orders all to myself - don't judge me. I love their serving team. Everyone I've ever encountered has always been so funny, attentive, & witty. It is always a grand ol' time with the Magee' team. Prices are medium. For a decent night out with food & drink, it is about $75-$100 a person (without tax & tip). While I personally think it's a tad high, it doesn't matter because: the service is always excellent, the food is good, & the drinks are always great. This place is "hit and miss". Nice bar, nice inside and a nice patio outside however, I find the bartenders all to be pompous assholes and the food inconsistent. They all seem to have an "I don't give a phk" attitude. I like whiskey neat (you'd think an Irish bar would do this well) and, I got the tiniest little pour I've ever seen in my life. It was insulting, it was so small. I was charged a full price though. Cocktails are crap. No consistency. depends who's making them and no fresh juice. I've been here many times and the bartenders are dicks, every time. They make you feel like you're really putting them out. The food has potential. Looks great but, often it's not cooked properly. I got the potato skins and they came to me cold, not fully cooked. So, Idk, not sure I'll go here again. RACIST. My boyfriend and I went here on St.Patrick's day, and 15 minutes after we ordered our food, we were told they cannot serve us. We asked why...?? Their answer was "you guys are being a bit loud." I responded saying- "We are talking at the volume of the bar.
