Great local spot with reasonable drinks and fun activities! I enjoy any place with a pinball machine and a pool table, really. The service was great at the bar and I believe they were cash only. My BF and I visit this place when he wants to play Keno and watch a game and drink a beer. We have come here for sometime not often but enough. We walked in on MNF music was cool and we had a good bartender until her shift was over. We sat there for over an hour and the times we needed beer or keno we had to get up and interrupt the conversation this bartender was having with what I assume to be a regular. We were absolutely being ignored. The place had about 8 people in it including us. That bartender is just there to socialize and sneak out for a smoke in the back. Do better! read more

Went there, left there after waiting to be served and the bartender was too busy talking with her friends. She looked at me a few times, then carried on yakking away. Unfriendly vibe. I didn't spend my money at this dump. I mean, if this is all there is after everything on this strip closes, I guess it might be worth it to buy a drink here. But better yet, just door-dash something over to your home. Why suffer through the dinginess and nasty looks of this place. 5 stars for Kimberly, the bartender! Only been here twice but she makes the most amazing drinks. I have never had a Moscow Mule with double shots of Grey Goose for just $9... I'll take 5, please. This is a typical dive bar with a much older crowd. Honestly not a huge fan of older men trying to talk to me though, so my friends and I chug our drinks then head out. I like to stop by this place on friday and saturday nights at around 11pm, there's many people here a lot of the time at that time, and i usually have a great time shooting pool with friends, and listening to good music on the jukebox, it's great for the over 21 crowd at the times and days mentioned above, and it is right in the heart of downtown sunnyvale right off murphy street! there's a dance club next door, the crowd at the bar is primarily for people over 40, but i still highly recommend it for anyone who wants to have a good time! alcohol prices are also reasonable. ;) ;). read more

Your standard dive bar. I still quite enjoy this local bar even though there is nothing very remarkable about it. Located in the heart of downtown. Offers pool tables, but you get random balls. Sometimes multiple of the same ball, so you have to get creative. Has a few dartboard machines. Darts are bent and machine will register next players turn if you take to long to remove your darts from the board. Drinks are good. read more

I've been coming to Paul & Harvey's off & on for 5 yrs now. Bartender Kimberly is awesome!!!!! She is very nice, caring and listens to you when you want to talk. She also makes EXCELLENT drinks!! I feel Kimberly is very welcoming when people come in. I was reading some of the reviews and can't believe that some people are saying racism is going on there. I have been in the bar when Kimberly has carded someone that may look too young or underage, no matter who you are, that's the law. Kimberly by no means is racist!!! One of the bartenders, I think her name is Kim, is super rude and insensitive to all the customers. I noticed that she made me wait for my drink despite the fact that I was waiting for over 15 mins. I think she was racial profiling me for being of East Asian decent (even though I am middle eastern). And the bar top was really dirty. Love this place! Bartenders are great! They are attentive and look out for their patrons in making sure they are having fun but safe as well. Cheap, stiff drinks. The crowd could be hit or miss, but my partner and I have typically had good luck with meeting nice people. There are definitely regulars, and they're welcoming as well. Kudos to Maria for stepping in when a gentleman interrupted my girlfriend's and I's conversation to hit on her. Old times, new times, there is always a good time to be had at Paul & Harvey. I choose this place over any and all other drinking spots on Murphy Ave. The drinks are strong and tasty. I prefer the dirty martini but my girls love the Tropical Hooter drinks. They are really sweet but are very strong too so be careful. ;) They give out baskets of pretzels too. I like this added munchie item. It allows us to keep drinking without feeling like we are full of just liquid. Happy hour is from 4-6. The prices and drink vary so just ask the bartender for the specials. The bad elements are not that bad either. There are lots of people who frequent this bar and jukebox can be a tad bit too loud so it is sometimes hard to find a place to chill and to hear what you are thinking in your head. ;) Cheers to another dive and another drink. read more

Yikes did i just walk into a reno casino??? I thought smoking indoors is illegal in CA now... I guess that can be a pro for smokers maybe? Not my cup of tea! WHAT TO GET: any mixed drinks! I don't know what her name is but she is an elderly bartender who was being extremely rude to my family but she didn't ask for an ID from my friends who were white. Wow! Popped in here with the hubby the other day before we decided where we wanted to grab a bite to eat. I grew up in Sunnyvale but had never been in here before. It gives new meaning to DIVE bar. When we first walked in you could smell the old stench of stale smoke clinging to the walls. The bar is actually good size with a very long bar, several pool tables and a ping pong table. There were a few people in the bar and we could tell they were regulars. The bartender was friendly but not very attentive. I thought $6 for a glass of red wine was a lot for this place. My husband ordered a Sierra Nevada and she brought him a Modelo in a tall can. ?? He said he'd drink it since she'd opened it already so she set it down and walked away. Um .... glass please?? The obnoxious bar flies at the end of the bar were already clearly drunk and it wasn't even 2pm yet. I'm in no way a prude, not easily offended and the hubby and I have been to plenty of divey bars. But this place was one of the worst we've ever been to. There was a man at the end of the bar who was screaming and yelling and cussing. This went on for half the time we were there. The people playing pool were also cussing at each other like the "F" word was the same as a high five. The average age was about 65, alcoholics and possibly on the brink of being homeless. This place is probably one of the cheapest ways that the inner kid in you can enjoy a Saturday night. I came here with a couple of friends and had fun playing on their pool tables ($1), arcade machine (a quarter), pinball machines (3 quarters) and darts (about $1). Of course, we played multiple games and it added up to quite a bit, but it was still considerably cheaper than going to Lucky Shot Billiards across the street (which I also recommend). The drinks were cheap as well, but very watered down. This place accepts cash only, which is very weird, but there is an ATM machine inside. The patrons are hit and miss. Some can be very rude and very drunk, but I can't really knock the bar on that. read more

Great dive bar with AC (which was very much needed cause it was so hot outside). They have pool tables and a juke box. It wasn't very busy when I came here so got served right away. Lots of parking out back, close to lots of restaurants, but didn't like that if you came in from the back you had to walk through a smoking room to get to the bar. Ok, so the love affair with P&H hasn't always been smooth; but it is definitely our Go To dive bar in Sunnyvale! The bartenders: Maria, Sara, Deidre & Kimberly are all very nice, (if you like margaritas, have Maria mix one up for you; on the rocks). The drinks are inexpensive and strong. The jukebox has a wide, eclectic range of music. The vibe is definitely"neighborhood bar", but once the people get to know you; they are welcoming. Fun place to watch a sports game, as they have several large TVs, 3 pool tables, pinball machines and darts.
