Fiddleheads has always been a cornerstone of the hancock and monadnock community but since the new owners have taken over they are on another level. Great outdoor seating for the summer and quant indoor seating year round. Always busy on the weekend my go to is the plumber which is like a lumberjack special on a sandwiches and all there sandwiches and specials are on point and delicious. I could go here everyday for the desert and side options, easily better than any grocery store sides. Several friends moved to the area and wouldn't shut up about this place. Just to placate them I went in....Honestly, probably the best breakfast I've ever eaten. No joke. Every item I ordered tasted fresh like it was home made. I love the eclectic menu. Lots of inspiration from Central America and North Africa. Where else could you order a burrito and shashuka!? The only gripe I have is the set up. As a brand new customer I had to navigate how to do things: coffee is self serve, bus your own dishes, not sure whether to pay/tip at the table or the register, etc. BUT the staff are super friendly and affable. All in all an outstanding meal with old school New England charm. I live an hour away and will be going more often. read more

New owners as of Memorial Day 2023- the food is just as good. The staff is very friendly and all smile. We got cappuccinos and we liked them better then a regular cup of coffee. The oatmeal and maple over yogurt was so good we went two days in a row to get it. The donuts here are good and do not taste of oil- he maple glazed donut was the best, so tasty and not too sweat. The spinach salad was of a generous portion enough for too but the dressing is just a little tart. The children got egg sandwiches and loved them. The bread here is worth trying! I hope they start to sell bread and loaves soon. Suggestion, be patient this is not fast food establishment and they make the food to order. It gets busy here. Breakfast and lunch were already excellent at this charming cafe in picturesque Hancock, New Hampshire--with incredible homemade muffins, donuts, cookies, salads, eggs and sandwiches. But now they're branching out for dinners too. For those of you who were lucky enough to try Fiddleheads first Thursday Night Supper, cleverly named "Waxing Crescent" after the moon, congratulations! For everyone else, you too can get lucky when the suppers resume the Thursday after Thanksgiving. Cozy romantic lighting and the quirky tea towel curtains transformed the bustling cafe into a calm and cozy retreat. Every dish our party of five had was a delight. Blue Hubbard and Ginger Soup was proclaimed, "Maybe the best soup I've ever had." Instead of the usual gooey, cheesey, thick soup often encountered with squash, Fiddlehead's was a robustly flavored broth that showcased the nutty Hubbard and spoke of rich leafy Fall. Sumac Pickled Onion and Fennel Salad was sharp and crisp and in an unexpected counter point, larded with shreds of tender duck confit. Garrigue Kippered Salmon with Fresh Radish and Pickled Beat was lightly smoked and resting on a bed of hard cooked egg and dilly cream. This dish took one directly to a heathery streambank in Scottish Highland where it may have been prepared right after being caught. The entrees we had, Chicken Milanese with roasted cauliflower, caper, lemon and shaved apple with spicy greens and a Red Wine Braised Short Rib with dried fruit, arugula gremolata on a pond of black peppered polenta were completely satisfying--the richness of the meat, set off and highlighted by sharp contrasts of sour, bitter and sweet accents of vegetable, herb and sauce, lingered. Cranberry and Lime Curd Tart is a revelation that should be on everyone's Thanksgiving table from now on. Roasted Apple Cobbler with salted caramel and sweet rosemary biscuit and vanilla ice cream is the Platonic ideal of an apple dessert. And calling the flourless, espresso flavored, boozy orange cream topped dessert simply "Chocolate Cake" is a funny way of disguising a plate that no one could stop eating. The wine list is perfect--small, focused and affordable. And if beer is your preferred beverage the representation is as varied and food friendly as you could want. I don't believe I've had a better meal in the whole Monadnock Region. And the price was as good or better than many. If we all say our prayers or nicely ask Santa, Fiddleheads Thursday supper will spread over the whole weekend. But for now, pick a Thursday and GO. read more

Have not been to Fiddlehead's since the new owners took over and I have to say it wasn't as expected. The woman at the counter was very nice and our order was timely but, my mom's Ruben was terrible, very tough meat so much so that she could hardly chew it. My chili verde was very tasty but again the chicken was quite tough. The bagged chips were also stale . The cookies however were yummy. read more

Under new ownership, I excitedly stopped in twice now- last Saturday for a scone and matcha latte and today, for a breakfast burrito and a mocha latte. Well priced, fantastic atmosphere, beautifully painted - this place is a true gem. I thought I would just take a bite of my burrito this morning and save it for later, but I ate it before I could stop myself - it was one of the most delicious things I've ever had! Fresh, with roasted yams, black beans and lots of flavor. And the mocha latte wasn't too sweet, not Too milky, honestly just exactly perfect. I can't wait to go back! Fiddleheads is a regular stop on some of our longer bike rides. Moderately busy this season on the weekends, which is good to see. We usually get paninis of some type with chips and a pickle and to date all of them have been well made and fresh. Good selection of Sri is and an expansive menu. Super cute cafe! We were in the area checking out houses and stumbled across this gem. Huge menu with option for take & heat. This restaurant has a new owner and chef and it is a fabulous upgrade! Great "sandos" and salads and the best pastries and coffees. There were a lot of customers and we still received our food quickly. We loved the raspberry "Breakfast Cookie" and avocado toast and "Plumber" breakfast sandwich. Hugely disappointing! We are new to the area and passed Fiddleheads many times. We were really looking forward to trying it once the pandemic eased. Cute place, good looking menu. Then we got our orders. Bummer! I had asked for no cheese on my salad and the kitchen included cheese. Ok, not a huge deal. But when I got back to the table my husband said the bread was stale to the point of being inedible. I poked it and it was dry as dust. He was going to eat the chicken salad off the bread anyway, so he took the bread off the top. No chicken salad sandwich, sliced turkey with lettuce and tomato. Not even close. No apologies from the waitress for any of it. We got our money back and left. I wish I could say it was busy, but it wasn't. There was only one other table with three people. SO disappointed! Fiddleheads is the center of Hancock. I was a tour guide for 2 weeks to an Italian group of 8 women who wanted to explore New England. Since I have a home back in Hancock, we came here for a day. Sherry makes everybody welcome with open arms. Her menu has expanded to include a great variety of local foods at reasonable prices. I called her a few days in advance and told her about our group. She created a special menu with organic meats and veggies, and home made fruit pies. It was a highlight of our trip back in Hancock. Had breakfast sandwiches and coffee here one Sunday morning as we were passing through town. The coffee selection was wonderful, but the breakfast sandwiches were small and nothing special. We also got a side of corned beef hash which was too salty up finish and a disappointingly small portion. Ambience is lovely though with their beautiful wrap around porch and lots of outdoor seating. Sherry at Fiddleheads met and exceeded all our expectations. As self-proclaimed foodies from DC, we were looking for a caterer who could give us the farm to table, autumnal menu we dreamed of. Let me tell you, this woman knows good food. All our guests are still raving about how delicious the beef tenderloin, cider braised chicken and portobella mushrooms stuffed with risotto. Those are just a few highlights from the main course. The cocktail hour appetizers, along with the main course sides also impressed. A party of six of us stopped in for lunch and had a terrible experience at Fiddleheads. To start with the person who took my order could not figure out the math to give me change. When the orders came out the waiters had no idea of who in the restaurant​ had ordered​ what and had to take the sandwichs​ apart in front​ of us to tell us what was in each lunch​​. My sandwich was a steak sub that was so overcooked and burnt that it was almost uneditable. My wife and I stopped in on a weekend morning for a quick breakfast. The prices were very reasonable, and the food choices were pretty simple. FYI - they serve 6 different kinds of coffee. My breakfast, 2 eggs, ham, potatoes, and wheat toast was delicious. My wife was stealing bites from mine. Her English muffin with egg sandwich came out with the muffin too brown for my wife (it was closer to burnt than brown). So my wife asked them to put it on the wheat bread like I had (the wheat bread slices are about 2-3x the thickness of a regular piece of toast, and very good). The coffee was great! I like medium roast, and many places don't offer that, just dark roast or french roast (aka burnt). Overall Fiddleheads is a great place for a quick, non-fancy breakfast. read more
