My family in San Mateo was raving about this place and it sure lived up to expectations. I devoured my giant plate of carbonara in two seconds. It was flavorful, but not overwhelming. The sauce was rich and creamy, and had the perfect amount of cheese. Probably one of the best I've had. Tiramisu was also magnificent. Everything was reasonably priced and service was good. I pass by this place on my commute and it looks so inviting. Today I finally had the chance to give it a try! Loved the ambience: indoor and outdoor seating, Italian music in the background, and employees greeting regular customers by name. The espresso drinks were perfect. My salmon and goat cheese omelette with dressed greens was simple but delicious. The almond croissant looked good but tasted stale, the only disappointment of the meal. Finally! A panini made just the way I love. Thank you Fiero Caffe for a wonderful lunch. The space itself is big - indoors and outdoors - but good luck finding parking! I had the prosciutto de Parma panini (the side salad was sad, just a bunch of spinach leaves with a couple of olives, not like some of the pics posted but I didn't care). The panini had mozzarella and fresh tomatoes. The bread was toasted just right and the flavor was spot on! Yes, I was hungry but I get cranky if my cravings aren't satisfied. I've driven by this little cafe literally for YEARS and finally had the chance to stop by for brunch. My friend and I arrived on a Sunday around 12:30pm and there were still seats available both inside and outside. The cashier was super friendly as well as the rest of the staff who brought out our orders. I ordered the Sicilian omelette and my friend got the spaghetti with fresh pesto -- both were absolutely delicious and made the perfect light brunch. I would highly recommend sitting in the little room to the left of the register (sort of near the bathrooms) as there's a fantastic view of a lemon tree just outside the window. My sister told me about this place when we were talking about spaghetti carbonara and she really recommended it. I also saw the great Yelp reviews. Came here on a weekday for lunch on a gorgeous fall day with my family. Lots of indoor and outdoor table that were spaced out so that was nice. We sat outside after ordering at the counter. The people working here were very helpful and friendly and you can tell there are a fair amount of regular customers that come here. We ordered the spaghetti carbonara, grilled branzino and spinach and ricotta ravioli. Every dish was great and I was surprised by the big portion size. This was especially true of the branzino where I got 2 fillets of fish. The carbonara was on point with great flavor. We were hungry that day and the food was so good that we ended up not having leftovers. I'll be back again in the future for sure! read more

We come here all the time, since the day they opened. The only reason we come back is because we live next door. I agree with the other comments...the owner is extremely rude!! I walked right up to the counter this morning and said good morning and he looked at me and walked away and one of the other employees came over and took my order. The food is mediocre honestly don't think I'll be coming back, even though it is convenient too many places to choose from where they appreciate their guests. Really cute Italian cafe. They have pretty good espresso although a little bitter (they do have sugar available I just didn't grab any). The guy at the register who I believe is the owner or a worker there is really friendly and even brings your food and drinks to you which is appreciated. The pasta and traditional Italian food looks good, saw a man in heaven eating his Chicken parm. I want to come back one day and try it. Noticed they also had cannolis which I hope to try one day. The bruschetta was tasty and the Pastrami Panini was delicious and so were the fries. It's super filling and a fair price I believe at around $12. I've been a regular customer coming in for Fiero's coffee. The owner has never been friendly, but that's fine. Today was a different story, he was on another level. My friend needed a box to go so I got up and asked for one. The cook asked me if I wanted a small or a large, I wasn't sure so I said small. Turned out it wasn't gonna be big enough so I politely asked the same guy if I could get a bigger one. As he went to get it, the owner rudely told me they cannot use the smaller one that I was returning so I threw it away. After I was given the larger container, while serving a customer, the owner yelled at me "That's the last one you're getting". What a jerk ! To the owner: You should be ashamed of yourself (although I know you won't be) for rudely yelling out at me, especially being your senior. Just because you have plenty of business doesn't mean you should treat your customers with disrespect. Learn some manners. read more

Small cafe on El Camino but love the ambiance, it's much bigger when you enter. They have the best and most chocolate-y croissant in the area by far. All their pastries are excellent.
