Great breakfast cafe with a variety of options (vegetarian options as well). The ordering process is easy; place order and pay at the kiosk. The service is a little on the slower side, but they do have a lot of DoorDash orders. We picked up coffee next door at 3 Bees, so waiting outside wasn't bad. Oof. Not sure what to say about this place. My company ordered a group order from them and names were not put on the containers so chaos ensued. It also arrived a half hour late, which I'm pretty sure it was their fault not the delivery service. One person was missing their order, not 100% sure if the restaurant cause this or if someone took their food. We will never know because their names were not on the orders. Generally, I thought the food was good. My dish was a salad and it was fine and the portion was generous. So I thought I'd give them a shot today and walked over to the restaurant because my office is nearby. There was one guy behind the counter so I walked up expecting him to take my order. He ignored me for a couple of minutes and then looked up and clearly didn't have any idea what to do , and sort of pointed to an online ordering kiosk, which I had missed and had not expected in a small restaurant like this. So I went over to the ordering kiosk to try to figure it out. Then someone a little more with the program appeared and helpful told me that a sandwich is under the subs section (although I'm not sure in what world a tuna sandwich is considered a sub, but whatever). And then he asked me what I wanted. And at this point, I was like, I don't need any of this. So I walked down to Paris baguette, and bought a premade sandwich. It's a shame because the food here is probably better than it is at the chain sandwich place. Small businesses need to get it together. A friend and I stopped by here. The food we got was very good. Here's the kicker: there was NO LINE, and neither my friend nor I had ever used their order kiosk before, so we asked the guy at the counter if we could just give him our order. No problem, he said! He placed our order, then I paid using my credit card. Then when I got home, I double-checked the receipt and thought it seemed weirdly high for what we got. I went to their online menu and worked it backwards, and found that the counter guy had given himself a 25% tip without asking us! Gimme a break! A simple, "Do you want to add a tip here on the checkout machine?" would have been the HONEST thing to have done, and I would have given him at least a 20% tip. Just picked up breakfast from here about an hour ago and it was so good I had to write a review right away! I got a breakfast crunch wrap with meat and avocado and it was hefty, filling, and so good. My crunch wrap had chicken, sausage, avocado, cheese, potato, sour cream, and salsa. It was a great amount of food and well flavored, perfect kick for a Southwest flavor to it. I was pleasantly surprised when I came here. This place is called avocado toast so I had to try that but I also thought a breakfast crunchwrap could be interesting. The parking situation is street parking as it's located in downtown San Mateo. We got lucky with close parking but you'll have to pay and get garage or metered parking. The Crunchwrap was amazing! I was so happy we ordered it. It was really tasty without being super heavy. The avocado toast was also pretty good. They add this red sauce on top which gave it some nice flavor. You can order beforehand or at the kiosk when you first walk in. There are only a few two-seater tables inside, but additional seating is outside in a parklet. Tried this place based on what I saw for yelp reviews. Staff was friendly upon entering the store however, besides a greeting, there was no other acknowledgment, even when standing and looking at the menu and then waiting around to see if anybody was going to take my order. After no one acknowledged that I wanted to place an order I noticed a kiosk off to the side where I just placed my order on my own. There were a few tables and chairs, so I decided to eat there. Tables are nice and clean it seems like this location is more of a takeout than eat in area. My name was called and I grabbed my food and even though I had said I was eating and they still gave it to me in a brown paper bag to go. Slice of the burrito is about the size of a regular or a baby burrito at most location, which was disappointing for the amount of money that I spent. I ordered the OMG burrito, which is supposed to have eggs, cheese, avocado, sour cream, meat of your choosing (chorizo and paid extra to add bacon), and salsa (I requested on the side). I really could not tell where there was bacon because it was diced up so small that it was very hard to recognize. I think for paying extra for an additional meat they should at least add more than what could've been considered. maybe one slice of bacon (that's a BIG maybe). I did not really notice any cheese or sour cream throughout my entire burrito which was disappointing as well. Overall it is filling because of all the items thrown in but it lacks in flavor and meatiness which is what I was looking forward to. Oh and the salsa reminds me of a bit spicier version of Pace picante sauce (goes well with the egg). Overall nothing jumps out to make me crave to come back soon but if I'm in the area maybe I'll try some of their other options. read more
