I have been using this place for almost 2 years for my '05 Altima. Always got good friendly service at very reasonable price. I am not a car pro but here is a story. Once my car broke down (A/C hose leaked) and AAA towed it to a nearest shop (I have only 5 free towing miles). I didn't like the quote and re-towed it to Fierros at my own expense. Fierros fixed the car for half of that quote! They also split the repair in two as not all affected parts required immediate replacement. Since that event I completely trust them to have the best price possible and do what's good for me and my car. They are also very flexible on what to do. If something can wait a few more months they'll tell you. And if you don't like dealer's price on some part you can buy it cheap on ebay, bring it in, and these guys will install it for you. I am moving to Fremont from Santa Clara now and this wonderful place will not be so convenient anymore. But I just might come back here for major repairs! read more

These guys are awesome! They have checked two of my cars for free. One of my cars was making a weird noise and they checked it for me for free. I I had taken it to the Nissan dealership and they wanted to charge me 700 dollars. Turns out I just had to replace a part that cost me 30 bucks. Crazy!!!! I just took another car in yesterday that had the check engine light on. He checked it again for me for free when other places wanted to charge me 80 to just connect the little machine that lets them know what is wrong. He lifted the car up and let us see the huge leak it had. He gave me a great price for everything he has to fix. This is a great place to go to not get ripped off. read more

Jose Fierro is knowleadgeble, honest, and has a good personality. What more do you want from your mechanic? If it's good competitive pricing and honest phone quotes, well he's got that also! I brought in my wife's 2012 Nissan Versa. The driver's door would not open from the inside. Jose quoted me $49 over the phone to take the interior door panel off and conduct an inspection. This quote was noticeably less than a couple other places I contacted. Once he found the issue (broken cable), he went out of his way to contact the Nissan dealership where the car was purchased and verify that it is a repair covered by warranty! I have been taking my cars to Fierros for more than 5 years. My friend recommended me to this place and I've never gone to other places except for Nissan dealership. I am surprised to see the first review is a negative one cause I didn't feel that way at all. The owner is quite humerus, and friendly. The most important part is he does a good job on your car. Went in because friends car was over heating. I come from a family of mechanics but because they don't live here in the Bay Area and they all work they were unable to come check it out. Long story short they ended up charging her $268 for replacing the radiator relay which in reality the part costs $26. I came home and called my boyfriend which he was upset because on the phone he told the mechanic that it was probably the relay so the man really didn't diagnose it, all he did was changed a part. Because my friend and I are both women I feel that he took advantage. My friend being from out of the area and just visiting got desperate and just wanted it fixed so we really didn't call my family or boyfriend to and ask. So if your a women and know nothing about mechanics or pricing stay clear from here my friend. I rarely take the time to leave bad reviews but I hope this doesn't happen to anyone else. I no longer ask for quotes, I just say "fix what I came in for, and anything else you find broken or needing service" . I only have him call me with a quote if there is a major problem. I have been going to them since they took over from First Gear and also now that they have moved down to Layfayette and ElCamino. Prices are top notch, service is great and all jobs are completed on time and perfectly. I was in last week and had an engine light go on. My car was very low on oil and Jose did an oil change, checked everything out and I was on my way in 30 minutes. He went through the message data base thoroughly to be sure there were no problems..after an oil change new filters and something else I was out the door for about 60.00. Anyone else would have made something up and charged me more which has happened to me in the past. Jose is honest, runs a great family business and knows what he is doing.........and he's funnier than all hell! My car was making a screeching noise so I brought my car in on my way to work - without an appointment, and Jose stopped what he was doing and helped me. We took it for a ride so he could hear what I was hearing and then diagnosed the problem for me. He suggested that I take my car to the dealership (Honda) because the issue was probably still under warranty. He spent about 30 minutes of his time on my car and when I offered to pay him for his services, he refused. He gave me a guidline for pricing and told me that if the services weren't covered through the warranty with Honda, they shouldn't charge me more then X amount to fix it. I was given price for the cylinder that I was interested in (very reasonable), & that for doing all the cylinders (also very reasonable). I dropped off my truck the same day I called & picked it up later that same day. I was given the service I requested at the price I had been promised, and a detailed estimate of what would be required to fix it.
