I was born and raised in LA and grew up eating the best Mexican food in all the US and I can confidently say this is hands down the best AUTHENTIC Mexican food in all New Mexico. The food is not just amazing but so is the ambience and vibe. I saw people complain that the drink and food are a bit pricey but they give out very big portions and the drinks are the best, especially the margaritas! This is the type of spot you come to celebrate and definitely not for just a casual dinner. (We were there for a birthday) I'm always looking for delicious mezcal drinks and wow was their hibiscus sour refreshing. I'd heard so much about the pastor with piña assembled for you to prep yourself but sadly it was sold out by the time we ordered. Instead, we ordered the tacos norteños (asada with chorizo) nothing out of the ordinary but the flavor was good. I wasn't happy with the type of flour tortillas they had so would order corn next go around. My only downside is this place tries to upsell you to get all the things like a large $20 Margarita is wild. Would get the pitcher next time because it's cheaper that way if you come with someone. So yeah, not a native to the area here, but have had plenty of Mexican food all over the country and in Mexico itself. It is important to realize when going here, this is Mexican food, not New Mexican food! With that important distinction in mind.. everything we had, from simply the chips and salsa, to the entrees were tip top in both presentation and taste. Walking into the restaurant, vibes are set to 100. Everything is fun and modern, there is excellent music playing, and when there was a birthday celebration they actually switched to 50 Cent's "In Da Club" you know... "Go Shorty, it's your birthday, we gonna party like it's your birthday" We didn't order any alcohol, but decided to order tableside guac. At the time we went it was a little later, so they didn't come make it tableside. No matter, it was clear it was made right then, and the taste was PERFECT. Especially with the warm and crispy chips, not to mention this wonderful salsa they came with. I saw another reviewer mention they were offput because it had a reddish brown color, they use roasted tomatoes and peppers! There is a really nice spice to it, and switch back and forth to guac and salsa was nice. I asked what dishes the waitress recommended, and one of her choices was the Pork Belly Al Pastor, which is definitely understated on the menu. Marinated pork belly, caramelize pineapple, server with tomatillo salsa, crema, roasted tomato salsa, rice and beans. Nowhere does that mention this will come out on a giant skewer with 4 MASSIVE chunks of pork belly between and entire pineapple! There was easily 3/4 to an entire pound of cooked pork belly on that skewer. I had plenty for another meal, potentially two more meals. The taste was just as good as the presentation, the fat on the pork belly was perfectly rendered down to that buttery consistency. The meat tender. The pineapple was sweet and provided a nice tangy switch up. Putting it all together on fresh flour tortillas, I was exceptionally happy. All told, some people have talked about pricing here. You will be well fed! This is a higher end Mexican restaurant, and the amount of food you are going to get will keep you eating for another day. I highly recommend this spot! read more

I've been 3x now and each time has been better and better. The last time we went we had a party of 14. Our reservation somehow got "lost" for BJs so I called Fiesta Azul, asked if they could seat 14 people within 15 minutes and they said yes. Everything was ready for us by the time we arrived. The food is solid, but expensive. Honestly, a little too pricey for me for Mexican food, but I get it. The prices are higher because of the location, space, staff, and decor. I recommend ordering Authentic Mexican Dishes here. Not New Mexican. Not Tex Mex. Mexican. If you don't order a traditional Mexican dish then you will be disappointed. Also, come in with a mindset this is a Mexican restaurant. Not New Mexican. Also, it's a tequila house. The tequila they served was delicious and I'm not a big tequila fan. The place was packed and pretty loud - I wouldn't come here if you want to have a nice or serious conversation. Like for example, he asked what kind of water we would like and started to list their offerings and "not sparkling, just normal" got turned into an $8 still charge. The chips were pretty stale and salsa was meh. Other than that, everything was really great. They have a wide selection of margaritas and I loved my chamoy mangonada, note it was apparently the large size which was $18. They have so many tequilas and definitely the spot for margaritas. I ordered this frozen sangria margarita and what I got was this sludgy looking drink that was not frozen and the waitress totally dismissed me when I asked if this was the right drink. She never once checked on us instead paying all of her attention to a larger table. Service was so bad that i almost left no tip. Asked the locals where to go, and boom--here I am! I had to come early since I discovered that most restaurants close early during the week, and I had to get my fix of Mexican food before leaving. And boy, am I glad I came here! When I arrived, the restaurant was a little empty, but no biggie--it picked up quickly with diners of all ages, backgrounds, singles, groups, couples, you name it. I started with a traditional margarita, chips, salsa, and shrimp ceviche. As my ceviche arrived, I struck up a conversation with a beautiful young lady next to me and ended up sharing my appetizer--glad I did because the portion was hefty! Everything was fresh, perfectly seasoned, and paired beautifully with the salty chips. Next came the chicken rice bowl--loaded with chicken, rice, black beans, all the good fixings... and of course, bring me some chips so I can dip, dip, dip! Wanted to try a new restaurant so we headed to Fiesta Azul. As you walk in you are hit with fantastic music and the hostesses were so nice. Our server was Alejandro who was very nice. Ordered water and they bring you your own caraf. We ordered the enchiladas supreme and birria tacos. Everything was flavorful and filling. The birria tacos bursting with flavor and the best part not overpowering with cinnamon. Everyeone was super nice here, from the host to the bartender. The cucumber jalapeño marg was delicious, and the chips and salsa. I got the pork belly and didn't realize it was a whole a55 pineapple and over a pound of skewered belly! They helped me pack it for my flight back to Dallas and it survived the trip. The facility is beautiful. Bar area and entry are designer level. Our server was very attentive. But when you are asked if you want still water or sparkling be aware the sparkling will be a full $8 bottle. Very good water but still, oh no not still, sparkling. We ordered the jicama salad and enchiladas Montadas. Both were good sized meals. The salad was stand alone and very good while the enchiladas had cilantro lime rice and an avocado salad. Never have been a fan of that type of rice but to be fair it was prepared correctly. I tasted it but only one small bite. As for the stacked enchilada, it was topped with 2 fried eggs. That's about it. The eggs were way too done. No gooey yolk to flow into the sauce and add all that flavor. The shredded beef needed spice of some kind. Onion and garlic would be a good start. It was moist and cooked well just not much flavor. Then the red sauce, which didn't have much flavor either. Certainly not chile heat or garlic bite. Tequila House is doing a lot right to miss on red sauce. There are too many excellent red enchiladas in Albuquerque for me to be willing to return. Maybe you will have a different opinion. This place is so hot it's like trying to get into an exclusive club man. I came in around dinner to find out the wait time was an hr. I recall it was love at first bite so you know I had pretty high hopes. After seeing all the photos well.. I just had to have it! Needless to say I waited it out. The staff was friendly but let me warn you if you're in a hurry don't expect a quick dine and dash. After I was seated, I found myself wandering off staring at just about everything. I did this repeatedly while also distracting myself on my phone for awhile. This place let me tell ya when it's packed it's louder than a heavy metal concert. It's definitely not the place to watch TikTok without some headphones. After some time my server finally appeared out of the darkness. When he asked what I wanted to drink I stuck with water. It was also the best service from a beautiful lady server named Ruth. I called and made a reservation last week and mentioned that we will be celebrating my husband's birthday. It had a "Reserved" sign on it!!!! Classy again! The decor here is really lovely & upscale. The bar area is nicely lit up show casing their many many tequilas and blue velvet & gold bar stools. The black ceiling has the industrial look, so we were thinking it might be loud when the restaurant is super busy. But, we were happy to hear the good music that was playing. A group of 16 people came in and were seated behind us, but we didn't hear them! Within a minute or two we were served water from a large glass bottle, and the bottle was left at our table for refills! Classy!! Chips and salsa also arrived. Great thin chips and very good salsa! Ruth, our server also greeted us with a big smile and an infectious personality. She explained that unlike the majority of bars, this restaurant uses all Freshly squeezed fruit juices for their margaritas, not bottled mixes. I ordered a Spicy Jalapeño margarita and I had a choice of small or large. I chose the large, hey I figured it's better than 2 smallsright! OMG, fresh juice was Amazing (hmm, wish I had one now)! Hubby does not drink alcohol and had a Diet Coke. Food time - we began with the queso fundido with chorizo, Fantastic! Our mains were the birria tacos for hubby, and carnitas with rice & beans for me! Both mains were Over the Moon Great!! I'm not kidding‼. Large portions and we were delighted to take home leftovers. Beautiful decor and a fun vibe when you walk in the door. I ordered online, was given a pick-up time, and proceeded to the restaurant to get our order. Upon arrival, the front of house person told us that our order was not ready as they were out of an item and needed to prepare a new batch and it would be ten minutes. Given that the bar looked so inviting and lovely music was playing, I jumped at the chance to grab a frozen margarita and take in the vibe. After about 15 minutes, I went to inquire about our order and discovered that they were completely out of the item and could not make any more. This was concerning as I should have been told upon arrival. I was in town to take care of someone who had just been released from the hospital and I was bringing the meal home to them. At this point, I just wanted to be reimbursed for the missing meal, and we would just make do with one less entree. The manager was very gracious and refunded the entire order vs. just the entree. While she was taking care of all of this and grabbing the rest of our order, she sent chips and salsa to the bar to enjoy for the remainder of the wait. While I was disappointed about the communication snafu, I do realize that, being a new restaurant, they have some kinks to work out, and I was very appreciative of the lengths they went to make the situation "right." We heard it was good so decided to try it... where do I start?! Suffice it to say that it far exceeded our expectations! While we enjoy the New Mexican food here in Albuquerque, we were definitely missing the authentic Mexican food -- and Fiesta Azul Tequila House delivered spectacularly! The decor, the host, and the server made us feel welcome and ready for a delightful evening. The drink menu had so many tempting offerings, including several Tequila and Mezcal options. We were served salsa and chips to start - and let me tell you, this salsa is unlike any salsa I've tasted in other Albuquerque restaurants, and the homemade tortilla chips were perfect. The Queso Fundido with Chorizo appetizer is a must try for anyone who comes here. For an entrée I had the Carnitas plate. The slow simmering pork Carnitas was so so so so flavorful and tender - I would come back just for this dish. Husband had the Molcajete, a smorgasbord of meats and lobster in a clay pot over rice with a house-made chipotle tomatillo sauce... just everything he could ask for in one dish! And for a little sweet palette closer we shared the Fuego Pineapple Upside down. If it wasn't because they were out of Flan and Tres Leches, we would not have had this dessert. Siri told us "arrived" and we turned into the parking lot on big Thursday evening Sept 25, 2025. We were in a large parking lot shared by 3 businesses, yet it was almost full! This restaurant is a happening place. Made our way to the door and told the host table for 2 please. Looked around that the place was F-U-L-L up. We suggested the bar and the hostess agreed that would be a good idea. The decor is very fresh, spare, eye catching. The place is loud, lots of hard surfaces, and yet the volume is not overwhelming. Really nice looking, good setup at the bar. The husband eyed the offerings on the wall, and when I asked why was he eyeing the wall of liquor he told me he was gauging what type of place this was as per the quality of their hard liquor. Huh. Bathroom break for me. The bartender was alone, he later explained it's usually 2 behind the bar but as there was a private party on the front patio the 2nd bartender was there. Also a couple servers or kitchen staff had not shown up that evening. The bartender, Marcello S, was moving very fast and efficiently - he had it under control. He took our drink order, gave us a couple menus, had someone bring us salsa and chips all while filling bar orders brought to him from the wait staff. A while later he asked what we wanted to eat, i asked him which of two items should I order and true to what I figured it would be (per what seems his deep knowledge of the menu, the food quality and the place I ordered the Al Pastor Bowl. Husband ordered true to trend, the Steak Fajitas plate and a Corona ... remember, no lime. Not longer after the food arrived, refill on drinks and we started eating. Wow was this food good, fresh, a spark from the herbs and seasonings. There was a bit left over from my plate, i took it to go which made a good start to a meal a couple days later. If we lived in ABQ I'd probably try to get to Fiesta Azul Tequila House 2 or 3 times a month. If you like ceviche and great shrimp and steak tacos, this is your place. We tried their shrimp ceviche and it was excellent! They also had 5 other types of ceviche. Everything was fresh and homemade including the chips. We also had the queso and it was yummy. Lots of different margaritas, we tried 2 different kinds, and they were delicious. A new place to try with friends and those margaritas did not disappoint. Lately I've been trying to enjoy the moment and sometimes forget to take a photo. Service was great but remember to park in the south lot not the north. Loved the ambiance, the colors and atmosphere were nice. Feeling of maybe being in Mexico. I only had the queso with chorizo but it was very tasty. I will return to eat a meal and have more strawberry basil margaritas. Might as well do a pitcher again. We went for dinner service a week ago. This is the fourth time we've been to this place. It's usually five star spot on, but there were a few things different this time. There was a couple birthday parties going on so they would play the music really loud like you were at Texas roadhouse style birthday singing, and then in between they kept turning it up, then turning it down, kind of took away from the place that it started off to be and to top it off food came out cold, and our server was having trouble bringing drinks or anything for that matter. read more
