I was here for a private event - the birthday party of two girls who are friends of a friend of mine. I really like the place for its laid-back and artsy vibe. The place was divided into two parts - a lounge bar area and a minimalistic art gallery. The lounge bar area would have been really nice if there weren't that many people invited to the party. Modern-victorian deco, nice scented candles and a pretty long bar counter (with cute bartenders)! I got a gin and tonic for $9 which is not too bad. Perfect venue for private parties. The art gallery portion could have been more utilized. The sound system was really weak though - couldn't hear much of the music (DJ stand is located in the bar area) when i was hanging out in the art gallery. read more

I really like how truly hidden this speakeasy is ! So easy to miss ! It's hidden inside an art gallery with actual art installations. Props to them for keeping it authentic. During weekends they usually have bouncers outside the gallery kind of giving it away. They don't have an extensive drink menu, but the cocktails they have are very tasty and also creative. The staff at this place are really sweet, in the dead of the night when they were very busy, I asked them to use a particular brand of vodka for a friends drink, since she gets sick on most brands, when I double checked the bartender had forgotten to do that but he immediately made me another one , apologized and didn't charge me for it. My favorite drink to have here is the red leaf. There is also the blackberry Margarita which is really good as well. They have a vodka based cocktail with lavender syrup that my wife really likes. Not the best speakeasy, not the worst either. Reminds me of PDT in that the way to get in is clever, but once you're inside it just feels like an average classy bar. I came with 4 girls and not one of our drinks was memorable. Maybe asking the bartender is the right way to go if you go. read more

This speakeasy is awesome! I went with 2 friends while in nyc and we loved the art gallery entrance, cool decor, great service, and delicious cocktails. We had the Polly Jean, the Prince, and Rhapsody and Rye, which were all good but the latter two were our favorites. Definitely pretty small, but it's quieter than other speakeasies in the area, so we had no trouble making a reservation the day of. Our waitress was attentive and had good advice about the cocktails. It started to get quite crowded as the night went on, but we arrived early so we had seats. Even though it was crowded it was not super loud. Located at the back of an art gallery, Fig 19 is a small speakeasy with fantastic decor. Elegant vibe, antique cash register, chandeliers, fire place, dim lighting - really a perfect date spot! In fact, I came here with my boyfriend for our first date and was super impressed with his pick. I have been back several times since and have never been disappointed. Honestly, I don't know why the bouncer let me into this joint. I'm nowhere near cool enough to enter an establishment as classy as this. First thing, you would never imagine that a place like this would exist on a street such as this. The outside is kind of run down/raw and all you really notice is this big bouncer outside a single door giving everyone and their dog a hard time about getting in. They really protect this place. After a minute or two, dude will let you in, and you'll walk through this creepy corridor, probably keeping an eye upfront as well as your six as you don't know what's about to hit you. Once you enter through this opening, you find yourself in this very dimly lit, and nicely decorated lounge with all sorts of fancy people having super important conversations, looking all sophisticated and such. My friends and I came early in the night so we were able to snag a booth, but many people were standing by the end of the night. The Vanishing Point with egg white and cinnamon was delicious. Absolutely one of my favorite speakeasy's of the city. It seems to do things right.. Ambiance is enjoyable. Size is decent. Prices are adequate compared to quality of drinks. My favorite part are the specialty cocktails offered for 13 bucks.. Skillfully made, each drink has it's own personality! Combining interesting ingredients, you're bound to order one you love. Unmarked and behind a wall in a gallery - a true speakeasy. Sadly, it's incredibly loud and crowded. Earlier in the night, when there was room to breath, it felt really chill and cool. Just a few people, sipping their drinks and having their own personal mysterious conversations. You really felt like you were in an out of the way place only certain people knew about. (Isn't that the point of a speakeasy?) Then, everyone and their siblings walk through the door, shouting and pushing and the place turned into a dudebro-fest real quick. The drinks are well made - but nothing mind blowing. I was (finally) able to get a decent mezcal drink and found it very enjoyable. There is a dive bar in the basement below - I'm assuming they're related because the same bouncer checked our ids. Great find. Walked through a tiny art gallery to a nondescript door and woosh, you are in this really cool, dark space. Lot's of skulls around with interesting art work scattered throughout including some weird alien looking skull behind the bar and a fireplace filled with candles. Couple of amusing pictures along the wall too - "posteriority" hyuk hyuk. Drinks were decent, drink list not as extensive as some other mixo bars, but definitely offers enough choices for most. Liked most of my drinks and the bartender remade my Red Leaf too with no hesitation when asked (I had tasted my friend's and immediately wanted one, but the one I got came out overly sweet). We were there at around 8ish on a pretty stormy Friday night and place was empty, although filled up as the night wore on. Music was good too. Definitely a place I'd come back to. Went on a chill weekday night but it still got crowded around 11pm. Got pretty loud, had do lean in to hear the person next to you. Had the prosecco with lavender, it was really good. I had high expectations for this place, but they didn't quite exactly meet the mark. I liked how the entrance was tucked away in an art studio. Very cool. I also enjoyed the atmosphere and the layout of the bar. What I wasn't a big fan of was that they didn't really have many fresh fruits or any type of flexibility on their cocktails. I ordered a few cocktails that used egg whites, but none of them had any bitters on top to mask the odor of the egg. First speakeasy I've been to. Was hesitant when the guy inside asked me what I was looking for there but he was nice and tried to keep the whole speakeasy act going. Came on a Sunday around 6pm and it we were the only people there. Didn't mind it being empty and got to chat with my friends in one of the corner tables. Got the daiquiri and my friend told me the bartender was very attentive when making his drink, testing each drink to make sure they were all right and creating each like it was a work of art. Apparently he rimmed all the glasses with limes before serving which I thought was a nice touch & detail to the cocktail. Verdict: I like speakeasies and I'll hit up more in the city! 4.5 Stars. This is one of those places you don't just stumble upon. Located on a run-down street, there is this art gallery. In the back of this gallery behind what looks like one of those doors not meant for public use, is a dimly lit and spacious area that looked like a cross between the Evolution store and a bar. We went early on a Sunday, so it was quiet and chill. I really like it when you don't have to yell and strain to hear your buddies and the bartender is waiting to make you more drinks. The prices aren't too bad and the bouncer is pretty chill. The gallery is quiet but you can hear all the activity coming from the next room which kind of gives away the fact that it's a speakeasy. I dig this place so much. My crew of 11 was galavanting NYC for a weekend and decided to try this place. I love the speakeasy vibe, walking through the gallery to a small door on the left and--BAM--classy cocktail bar. Wonderful. Unfortunately we couldn't stay too long (most of us had just driven/flew into town and hadn't eaten anything in a long time), but we came in around midnight on a Friday night and it wasn't super packed. I'm a little bit of a pleb when it comes to bars and the speakeasy concept is still very intriguing to me, so I love that about this place. And if it means less crowds, even better! I've been here twice, and it took me so long to come back because I couldn't remember where it was or what it was called! Last time I came here on 8:30 on a Saturday because I'm pretty washed, but it was exactly what I wanted! It was pretty, and clean, and not trying to look like a farmhouse run by a trust fund. There were a few nice booths and tables, as well as a spacious bar. And the bathroom was clean. Music not too loud. If you want to convince someone you are cool, bring them here! I would be convinced! As for the drinks, the focus is cocktails, but I'm more of a beer/wine person, and the selection was fine. I had a lagunitas ipa and so I was happy with that. read more

Decor of the place was great, very sophisticated with taxidermy on the walls and a curio cabinet of antique laboratory pieces. Drink menu was great, very unique cocktails, a bit expensive at $14.00 each but I get it... I was a bit shocked that a simple vodka soda was $10.00?! What threw me off about the place (other than the $10.00 vodka soda) was that the bartenders were kind of rude, like they were inconvenienced by you ordering a drink. I had a improvised gin/chartreuse cocktail which was average. My second drink was the vanishing point, which is a house recipe and outstanding. My favorite moment was seeing the juxtaposition when the entrance is pulled open from the blank wall and you can see the elaborate interior. Came here for my 25th birthday and I absolutely loved it! To enter you have to go through a hidden door in the back of an art gallery, really enhancing that 1920s prohibition area vibe. The bar space is absolutely beautiful and very 1920s. There's art work throughout, a fireplace with candles and the bar has an antique cash register. The bartenders were friendly, prompt and very helpful. This place was relatively cheap compared to other bars like this I've been too, but that it definitely had some of the best drinks, and they have Prosecco on tap!
