They have everything wonderful: bagels (they don't assemble bagel sandwiches, but you can buy bagels, cream cheese, and smoked fish to take home to assemble the bagels yourself), caviar, tinned fish, greeting cards, pins, condiments, refrigerated items (labneh, salads, fresh horseradish). It's basically heaven. I wanted everything. Biederman's falls just short of five stars for me, because the service wasn't that friendly. A few orders were sliced before ours even though we had ordered earlier and hadn't ordered much, we kept thinking ours was next, and we weren't sure what was going on. It took a little bit to get our order, and we felt a bit in the way as we waited for our order in their pretty tiny shop. It just wasn't the most welcoming place on this visit, but I couldn't have loved our cured/smoked fish on the sidewalk snack any more than we did. A real treat. The frozen tuna saku here makes amazing poke, however, they were out at my recent visit so I purchased the frozen tuna steaks. I was informed by the staff member that although the tuna steak could be eaten raw it is not ideal due to the sinew. Since the difference in texture didn't sound like something I would mind too much, I figured I would purchase the steaks and see how it pans out. I could always give it a quick sear if it doesn't work out. I prepared the tuna shortly after it defrosted in the fridge and noticed that the tuna smelled awfully fishy! I did try a small (raw) piece marinated in soy sauce and sesame oil and it was inedible due to the intense fishiness. So I gave the tuna a quick sear after encrusting the steaks with sesame seeds. Again, waay too fishy. I had to put the tuna back in the pan to cook until they were well done and even then there was still a hint of fishiness. I've gotten tuna steaks at other markets before and they were never fishy, let alone be at this intense level. This is so disappointing because I expected better quality from here.

The fish is a bit on the pricier side due to their commitment towards sustainability and ethical supplier transparency, but the taste is unmatched, so I am always OK to splurge. The staff is always friendly and full of recommendations if you're not sure what seafood you'd need for your dish. I'm a huge fan of their Fish Club monthly seafood boxes. The weekly pickup is some combination of 2-3 seafood items- either being two portions/filets of fish, mussels, clams, oysters, lobster tails, crab, octopus, etc. The pickups are during their store hours, whenever is convenient for your schedule. I splurged on the monthly box instead of going out to eat and it's really great value! I highly recommend it! It let me sample seafoods I'd typically never buy. I can't wait to do the seafood boxes again when they come back. On the shelves, there are sauces for seafood (wasabi, mignonette, yuzu soy sauces, etc.), tools for oyster shucking, and canned seafood (sardines, anchovies, etc.). Their sushi (although on the pricier side as a student) felt fresh and well-portioned. I've yet to try their meal kits, and I'm confident their quality and taste will be just as exceptional as everything else I've had. The oysters are very fresh, but vary in size based on the variety. I last stopped by to get chicken stock cubes. They had small boxes of cubes. I asked how much. I could tell he was making up a number, and he said $1. Walking out I noticed on the display box the price was really 2 for $1. Don't know why he either (1) lied or, (2) didn't bother to find the correct price. Seems like a bad idea to run a business like this. I will not be back. Just as easy to go to CVS for basic items.
