I have talked to several people about Filippi's & all of their locations serve the same items but depending on where you go, your pizza could be prepared magnificently or crappy. & here in Poway, they do a topnotch job, so good I came back the following week! We ordered a large fit for a king pizza with no olives tonight. Normally we love Filipis pizza. But tonight it was super salty like someone added salt to it. My husband called to complain about the pizza because it was not edible. He first spoke to the worker who answered the phone. She was not helpful and didn't seem to care. He then asked for a manager. The manager who was a Spanish speaking woman was rude and didn't seem to care at all either. She replied well we don't salt anything here! It would of been nice if she offered a new pizza even though we live up in Ramona. But she didn't offer any compensation at all. It's a shame we had to throw out an expensive large pizza. I won't be going back to Filipis in Poway anytime soon! They need to question the cooks or maybe check the ingredients. I recommend their Antipasto Salad & the Hot Ham & Cheese sandwich. If you like mayo be sure to ask for the mayo packets because they only put vinegar & oil dressing on the sandwich. I eat and work from too many places pizza I here I don't know why they put the pepperoni inside the the cheese the pepperoni supposed to be crispy and cook I didn't know if all the other pizzas they put the ingredients inside and the cheese on top but they are wrong the ingredients didn't cook well even you can eat a pepperoni or bacon or sausage needed to be cooked or crispy to be a better flavor is my second time and very disappointed read more

The food tastes exactly like the food in Escondido. My wife and I live in Escondido and have eaten at the Escondido restaurant for 25 years. Went there last week in hopes for some good pizza. Overall the pizza wasn't bad, but when you order a pizza with extra sauce on entire pie with one half cheese & the other half with pepperoni & pepperchini you would expect that 1/2 of the pie had those ingredients. We counted five "5" tiny slices of pepperoni & the cheese was in middle no where near the crust. Saving on ingredients I guess. If you like less/can't tolerate a good amount of cheese, simply order a 'thin crust' or ask for less cheese (they are so nice!) and you'll be a happy camper in the end. I've been coming here with my family for 20 years. We patronized this restaurant every week throughout the pandemic. The food quality was consistent until 2023. They've forgotten how to make their own iconic pizza. It's burned, the crust is hard, the "large" pie is small and sloppily made, there somehow isn't enough cheese, and the cheese is on the wrong side of the ingredients. We hoped this was a one-time problem, but we tried again with worse results. All the longtime employees are gone and management has no idea how to run an established restaurant, except into the ground. Bobby wouldn't have let this happen. RIP Filippi's. read more

Long time customer of the Poway location but have to let them know they are FAILING!!!!! Too many times this last 2 years I have gotten overcharged and/or received incorrect order when picking-up. On more than one occasion I have paid for an item that wasn't provided when they said it was in the bag, or paid for a premium sandwich and gotten the regular. When I have called to rectify, I get put on hold until I finally hang up. You don't charge Costco prices (my last pizza $30 and sandwich $13) so I expect to get what I've paid for. Doug read more

I have been going to Filippi's since they were on the east end of Poway rd. I ordered a to-go from them today and got the worst Antipasto salad I have ever had!!! Lettuce was brown and wilted very little meat and the pizza was cold and not like we remembered it. They used to pile the cheese on , not so today!! Their website shows a picture of the menu and the prices aren't even close, Antipasto salad was double and the medium pizza was almost double. $41.65 for a very disappointing meal. By the way I called and spoke to the manager and she said everything was fresh and went and confirmed it??? Look elsewhere for fresh Italian food!!! Grew up in San Diego, my family and I all went to the little Italy location for years. I worked in San Marcos for 20 years and went to the Escondido location at least once a week. I have been to the Poway location 5 or 6 times, the food is not as good as the other two locations, sometimes just awful, the service is never good, last time we went we left before even being seated the service was so bad. All Filippis that we visited in the past, use to be amazing throughout the many cities in the San Diego area and now we find that, it is just a bunch of bread to get you full before your meal and a ton of cheese on a pizza. Adding ingredients to a cheese pizza is a joke because you will not be able to see or taste your extras and the cost is significant!! Pasta dishes and salads are made at very minimal standards and often returned by customers as experienced and observed. Unfortunately, we. can't find one location that is amazing anymore and we have tried many !!!! Well, we tried. This place is becoming a family tradition. We ordered a large Canadian bacon pizza and chicken parmigiana. Both were good, especially the pizza (kids and dad approved). The best part is the portions, great size and enough for almost two family meals. The server was fantastic, especially for being alone and serving 5 tables at once. You can immediately smell the pizza, marinara, pasta, cheese aroma as you walk into the restaurant. I've been wanting to try this place because I see Filippi's everywhere! Came here on a Friday night at around 5:30pm and it was already quite crowded. Tables were filled with families and local residents and regular customers. A couple tables around us know the staffs and the staffs already know what they want to order. I like atmosphere like that where the customers and staffs have a good relationship. We ordered the Fit for A King (large) pizza for two of us. And oh my I didn't expect to see the amount of cheese on the pizza. It was overflowing with gooey goodness. But in my opinion it was a bit TOO much cheese. The pizza however tasted great; love the crust. The pizza was plenty of food for two ppl. As we were checking out what other tables ordered, I can't wait to visit Filippi's again so I can order their sandwiches, lasagna and pasta.. their antipasto salad looks really good too! and the portions were huge! If you ever in Poway and want good pizza, avoid this place at all cost. It used to be good but the staff and waitres and waiters are just angry to be there you feel like walkung on eggshells because they look and talk to you very angry. If you go there just order and shut up, don't ask for nothing, don't ask for silverware, cheese, pepper or salt,.avoid eye contact at all cost. Ask for Nothing or they char you with their looks. Pizza is good but the service sucks. Is good if you order to go. The only people that are there are 90 year olds that don't care because they'll be dead next week. We had a less happy experience here the last time we went. The Lasagna with meat ball was good as usual, but when we wanted to order something different from our usual pizza, the kitchen was not accomodating. Basically, my hubby doesn't enjoy spaghetti pasta. He likes fettuccine. We wanted to try the Chicken Parmesan which comes with spaghetti. We politely asked to switch the noodle to fettuccine -which they have on the menu since they offer a Fettuccine Alfredo- but they said no. We were willing to pay extra for the substitution, but they simply won't do it. HUH? why not, we asked. We were told "they just won't do it." Anyway, talk about perplexing and short-sighted management. We ended up trying nothing new, and are not inclined to come back. Such a contrast to the wonderful customer service we had at the Mira Mesa Filippi's location -which has a bigger menu (prime rib and BBQ rib bones!) and WAAY better garlic bread anyway. We will just head to Mira Mesa next time. On a side note, this location does need to invest in a deep clean. My 4 year son noticed the conspicuous dusty cobwebs on the light fixtures and overhead decor; he kept pointing to them and saying "where are the spiders?" read more

I'm 65 yrs old I started as a child going to the original Filippi's in downtown San Diego when it was a cash and carry. I never new it was a restaurant until years later. Fortunately I have been able to eat at every Fillippis in the chain. Even Riverside County locations. I cannot drive near a fillippis without stopping. read more

Horrible!! Do not go to this place. Filippi's is so good I was so disappointed that I went to this location. Host acted like we were bothering them when we asked for a table of two and then go sat in the only open table in a dining room while the rest of the restaurant looked open with only a few people in it. After waiting about 10 minutes a server walked up and said "you know what you want?" Not sorry for the wait or can I take your order etc. the person I was with asked is it Cole products or Pepsi products to which we got a yup. At that point we said we were leaving and got no acknowledgment etc. I said something to what looked like a manger on the way out to which I got "Thanks for coming" WOW with so many places to choose from these days not the type of service you would expect. Been coming here for years but never checked in or even wrote a review!? Shame on me... This mom and pop restaurant is old and cute and very much Poway. This location is a mile from the freeway and well worth the visit. The food is delicious and the service is great! Parking is limited, I've had to park on the street a few times but no biggie. They have to go prices for those that don't care to dine in. I suggest dining in so you can have your own bottle, put your name on it and return again, similar to the Japanese Style of saving sake for future visits. This go around I enjoyed their family dinner which comes with pasta, meat ravioli and meat lasagna. This came with a salad, fresh Parmesan cheese bread and a minestrone soup. My wife also added the Works Pizza, medium sized, which was perfect for the two of us and left enough for lunch. There are a few TVs not big screen but decent to watch sports. Whether you have a party of two or party of twenty, this place can handle it. If you're craving pasta or pizza, come by and visit. I've been going to this restaurant for over 30 years and me my husband use to love it.Tonight went and was the worst service and food.My spaghetti noodles was under cook and sauce was nasty and brown plus meat ball was gross.My husband hated his lasagna was brown and nasty sauce.The bread was gross and stale.We complained manager said was fine I said no I'm Italian and my sauce is better than this.Manager still charged us 40 for salad witch came with the meal and bread was stale and drinks.Was a ripped off will never go back use to love it now will never go.I rate this a 1because food,and poor service manager was rude and waiter.Well lost us after over 30 years find some were else better.gina read more
