Reliable slices with some New York attitude. This particular location is small with limited seating inside. They were doing a brisk delivery/takeaway business the night I was there. Their two slice and a drink for around $10 is always my choice and they never let me down with the quality of their slices. Pizza is pretty good, made with what seems like quality ingredients. I like how they do the crust, thin and crispy. Ordered here a few times, it's near my house. Main reason for two stars is they recently mailed out coupons for basically buy one get one free. I called the order in, and went to pick it up 30 minutes later. They wouldn't honor the coupon because I didn't mention up front I had a coupon. They wouldn't modify the order, they wouldn't cancel and put it in with the coupon. The whole thing felt scammy. Had a pepperoni sausage pizza delivered last night. If it had three times the amount of pepperoni it still wouldn't have had enough pepperoni ! Its wasn't cooked enough, very soggy hard to eat. We definitely won't be coming here anymore. Not because the pizza is horrible (although it has gone downhill over the years) but because the "owner" is beyond rude. First let me say that we have been loyal customers for YEARS. We came in with 3 "free slice of pizza coupons". Nowhere is there any fine print on the card that says you can only use one per customer so my husband and I popped in to take 3 slices home since we did not want to get a whole pizza. They told us we could only use 1 each (even though their obviously old slices of pizza were not going to be bought out by the end of the day because they always close before 8PM and it was after 5). The "owner" came out and reiterated that we could only use 2 of the 3. I said there was nothing on the card that says that and he barked loudly "I SAID IT". Of course we said forget it and told the front desk guy that he was rude. He said "he is not rude, he just has an accent" and of course I understood him loud and clear. My husband said, "no, that was rude" Supposedly he was the owner and he feels like he can treat people like that - sorry fella, but there are a lot of pizza places that value their customers, so you have just lost some loyal customers. You won't stay in business much longer treating people like that no matter how long you have been in business because word gets around. Last week my boss got us two pizzas from here, and needless to say, we were sorely disappointed with them. Visually, the pizzas were unimpressive and just reeked of a venture capitalist pet project prior to being looted: the cheese pizza had barely enough cheese to cover it and maintain a profit; and the pepperoni pizza had incredibly small pieces (the largest size available to ensure stockholders get a fair return) and sparsely spaced out (to ensure maximum profit per piece). I would be much more forgiving had the pizzas been cheap, but it cost my boss $52 and we got sub-Little Caesar quality. If you're going to liquidate this chain, please just do it now and spare your poor employees the humiliation of being let go. read more

This guy Alex literally stole my money!! His employee took my order wrong and I called them back to ask them to remake it which they refused, so I asked for a refund..which they refused!! Then the guy proceeded to yell at me for his team's incompetence, took the pizza and refused to give me a refund!! This isn't even the first time they made a mistake like this either, about a month ago they took my order right but they messed up making it so I literally just asked for a refund. Simple. But the guy at the register didn't know how to process a refund so he tried ti pay me out of his own pocket! A regular employee!! How embarrassing you can't even train your own employees on how to process a refund to the point they feel so pressured they pull out cash from their own pocket?! Eventually they refunded me and the lady who claimed she was an owner apologized for the experience and even offered to make it up to me. In brief: awesome, authentic New York style pizza. I started going to Flippin Pizza over two years ago. I used to work nearby. I was excited, but hesitant, to start. I'm a Joisey boy and a thin crust pizza snob. I admit it. In San Diego, I've been willing to travel 20 minutes for a great NY (thin crust) pie. And yes, we call them pies. With that build up in mind, I'll say this: I've probably been to Flippin over 100 times since they opened, and I have yet to be disappointed. They have truly nailed it when it comes to NY thin crust pizza. The right amount of spices, cheese and oil, so you have a sliver of grease dripping down your hand when you take a bite of a slice right out of the oven. And they have oregano shakers, which is a sign of authenticity. A final note: when I worked in the neighborhood and went there twice a week, the owners, Jason and Carlos, were often there. Both great guys. I hear that Carlos has his own Flippin location in scripps ranch now, and Jason has two other locations. I suggest checking any of them out. I'm sure they're all great. read more

Ordered a pizza to go. Arrived to pick it up. One guy behind the counter no mask at all(he quickly put it up) The other guy his nose hanging out. Which is the same thing. I passed. How come I can wear mine at work for ten hours a day without taking it off unless I'm on break(outdoors) or eating. But these guys can't wear one unless there's someone in the store? This isn't a joke. Especially when serving food. Especially. Edit: first, I'm a chef. I work in a hot kitchen 12-14 hours a day and only remove my mask on breaks or to eat...while outside. Second the owner messaged me to tell me a few things. A: covid dies when in areas above 85 degrees. (I can't find this info anywhere, please show me a link) But I pointed out to the owner it's thriving in Arizona. To which he responded, "In regards to Arizona if they are in hot weather inside with the AC running, sounds like a perfect place for the virus to spread." That sounds to me a lot like his restaurant. Indoors, air conditioned. Here's his full message(screen shot attached) Do you work next to a hot oven or in an area that sucks air out of the small space your in as my staff does? We put our masks up when customers walk in store to respect them as we expect them to do the same for us. With two employees in store, maintaining distance is easy and there isn't a need to put a mask up as we are 6 feet apart. The ovens kill everything and did you know that Covid-19 doesn't live in 85 degree temperature? Its half life in that temp on surfaces is less than 1.5 minutes Just so everyone is aware, San Diego has an indoor mask mandate. Meaning anywhere public and indoors all people are required to wear a mask. I would argue that's especially important in a restaurant, in the kitchen. Note, not all of their food is cooked. Salads etc. these are what's called ready to eat foods. I don't generally attack small businesses, as I am a small business owner. But the arrogance of this guy has upset me.
