Fillaseat has morphed into SeatJunky. And the name fits the service. Junky Seats or no seat at all. I'm not renewing my membership and here is my letter to them explaining why: Just some feedback from someone who really liked the Fillaseat business model. I was able to see some quality shows (Kalita Humphries at SMU and shows at the Annette Strauss pavilion). But, this year, when I've looked at your site I've seen nothing of real interest. What gives? Is anyone really working the Metroplex area to fill empty seats? Or are you just filling your pocketbooks on promises of concerts and events that never make it to your website? Last May, I had mentioned that I have been a member of FillASeat, first in Austin and then in Dallas. See http://www.yelp.com/topi... I received tickets to the House of Blues from FillASeat for a recent Molly Ringwalds (80s cover band) concert and mentioned that in my review of the House of Blues thinking that I was reinforcing my positive comments in the thread above. Apparently, FillASeat did not agree, as I received the following email from them today: "We have a Major problem with a review you posted on Yelp. The house of blues ( live nation) Has contacted us that they are very upset you broke the rules by listed you got free tickets from us to their event. This breaks the agreement you made when becoming a member. We have deactivated your account till you remove the post. Please remove the post right away. It look us 2 years to get the HOB to let our Dallas members in and now we risk losing them. Also it shows you have an Austin address in the system. Are you a DFW resident as well? Please help us make this right and keep our relationship. Management Team Dallas FillASeat" My response: "I did not realize I had broken the agreement I made when becoming a FillASeat Dallas member. My mistake, do what you feel is right. Your "Major problem" has been corrected, as I have edited out the comment from my Yelp review of the House of Blues (Live Nation) that mentioned I had received free tickets for the event from FillASeat Dallas. As an FYI, the only reason I had put that line in was to reinforce my posts in defense of FillASeat Dallas on the Dallas Yelp Talk threads; there was a thread a while ago in which a number of Yelpers stated that there is no visible value of being a FillASeat member and I had posted in that thread that I had received value in the past from the membership. Apparently, I had valued FillASeat to a greater extent than you value my membership. Feel free to keep my account deactivated and discontinue my membership permanently. I was a member of FillASeat Austin until I moved from Austin to Dallas on January 18, 2013. Apparently, your record keeping is in line with the accusatory tone you take with members. Well done. You are now in a position to make your relationship with HOB right, so congratulations. I'm sure in the scheme of things losing one little Yelper versus keeping your 2 years-in-the-making relationship with a venue that has more to worry about than letting people know that they are one of the reasons to purchase a FillASeat Dallas membership is a great trade-off. Here's the real deal: I have been a member since 2012 and seen plenty of great offers. However, that was back in 2012-early 2013. Ever since I renewed my membership from January of 2014, the shows have been HORRIBLE. It is usually the same stuff every week. The level of quality of shows has severely diminished. Their website has a very poor interface, no notifications for new shows, and most things get reserved almost instantly. So if you happen to see a good show available, more than likely it's already reserved. On top of that, you are seeing a lot of 5 star reviews, this is primarily because they are offering bonuses to members who leave great reviews. So believe what you want to believe. read more

Watching dollar bills flush down the toilet would be more interesting. It all sums up to save the membership money towards something you actually want to go to. Your basically paying for the ability to have to log into a website, that I swear was built ca. 1999, daily in order to only be disappointed. My one year membership is almost up and I hope they enjoyed it, because it's the last penny they'll receive. Nothing of interest for me. If you have the interest and time in attending a random puppet show, or one of a dozen unknown standup comedy shows at the most inconvenient times, then you might enjoy this. Don't fall for the idea that you'll get a chance to snatch tickets to anything remotely popular or even moderately interesting. Much less on a day you're actually available to attend such a thing Very repetitive... Usually the same weird magic show, or comedy act every other week, whose tickets are probably $10 or less at the box office anyway. Didn't use once. read more

I took the risk and I'm very disappointed. I have been a member since May and I have only gone to one event. I wasn't even interested in the event, I just wanted to use my membership. I check the website 2x daily just so I don't miss anything but the site rarely changes. Fill a seat continues to offer the same events with very little variety. In general it is not worth even the groupon price. read more

The membership has been worth it weight in gold! I have been a memeber for over a year now and have been compeltely delighted. We have seen major acts(not sure if we can divdulge who) at a variety of venues. We have also been to some great local theaters, puppet shows, and comedy shows. All in all this is a great value, and just one or two of the shows we have been to would have recouped our investment. My family's entertainment budget hs never strechted this far. I have also been very pleased with the response from their customer service people when I have sent emails. I will definitely be renewing my membership when the time comes. read more

I came across Fill-A-Seat and thought that this was a great idea. I checked them out, and based on their past event offerings, it appeared to be a worthwhile investment. Since I have joined, about 8 months ago, I have found nothing that even comes close to appealing, nor of the caliber that enticed me to purchase the product. I check the website daily and have yet to find anything other than offerings that would be a waste of time. My recommendation to someone considering this product is to save your money and don't waste your time on their website, as you will only be disappointed with the offerings. read more

Update! The selections are getting better and better! You get what you pay for but frankly if you go to two things it's paid for itself. We had a not helpful customer service experience but beyond that it's not too shabby! Recommend if you want to be exposed to stuff you'd probably not otherwise try! The offerings are really limited but I kind of expected that but what I didn't expect was the horrible customer service. Don't bother emailing them with questions because you'll only receive an unhelpful cold and terse response. They got your $40 from Living Social or groupon and that's all they care about. The having s state ID requirement is complete bullshit as most of the crap they offer is something only a college kid would bother to sit through. I will never do this again and will tell all of my friends not to either, go through Goldstar for deep discounts and save yourself the headache. FillASeat, if you could have just shown a modicum of understanding and customer service you'd have had a champion in me. I just wanted to say thank you guys, I was looking at all the things I have done in this past year thanks to this membership and decided to added up the cost of tickets as if I actually had bought them on my own and I was amazed how much money I have saved. I am a single mom and my entertainment budget is very very low, so doing activities for me is very hard sometimes, that is why I am so grateful for you guys having shows available that are good for me and my son to go together. I will start by saying that FAS is not for everyone, but if you keep an open mind and are open to different events then you will not be disappointed. You are not going to find major sports team tickets or expensive events (not yet anyway). They have improv tickets all the time and theater performances. I have had the opportunity to go to the the ballet that I would not have otherwise done. There are minor league sporting events, knock off bands, discounts in for some events, fashion shows, you never know. If you get a groupon deal it is worth it to try it out. Many people complain but really the membership pays for itself and the more people that join, the more free tickets they can get. Original posting was 5 stars. I should let everyone know that FAS had told it's members around this time that if you rated 5 stars on yelp, they would give you a free trial pass for a friend. So basically, do NOT TRUST any 5 star ratings from this time frame. To top it off, they didn't even honor this deal. What I have said above it true, but the venues are still very lacking and the price for a new member is not something I would ever pay. Awful!! Never anything new and I check at least twice a day. Still miss out on events that sound a LITTLE decent due to it selling out. Membership is expiring and been to a total of 3 events. 1 decent and other 2 just dreadful. Only went bc we were tired of checking fillaseat and come out with nothing. This thing totally stinks have the time the events aren't worth going to & the ones that are their so limited with their times or even how many they have available. Their site is like from the 80's...its like dude update your website...text message alerts would be great to let me know when something is available...I have had this thing for a year & haven't even used it once...because you constantly have to check it which for me it's really annoying I just don't the time to be checking their site to see if something new has changed because most of the time it hasn't. I would have rated Fillaseat 5 stars if I did this review at this time last year. Something has happened in the last year. They do not get the variety or caliber of events like they used to. There hasn't been one event that I've been interested in going to since Feb/March of this year, and I check the site often. A shame because I went to 30+ events my first year, and I had a 4-ticket membership, so got to share with family & friends. A great concept, and I have certainly gotten my money's worth - but sad to say that I don't plan to renew. read more

It's been over a year since I last reviewed and my experience has sadly gone downhill. The venues have gone from Ballet in Bass Hall in Fort Worth and Shakespeare at the ATTPAC in Uptown to the freaking Addison Improv and random choir shows at local churches. The last show I got tickets for was at House of Blues and that was a cool venue. But the band was actually walking the streets giving away tickets when we got there. And that was in February, over 6 months ago. Yup, it's a much different review than I left more than 18 months ago. But now I don't care if they cancel my membership. The offerings are pitiful and have been for a year. Right now they have a few improvs in Arlington and Addison (both of which have 2 drink minimums:read $6 soda), and AC/DC tribute band at the Southside Ballroom, whatever that is, and something at the Rockin'R Diner. i'd give it 2.5 stars(rounded up to 3). I had it but didn't renew. The main(and probably only) events that I went to were the improv events. i recouped my membership fee by going to those events alone so I can't complain much. The issue that I had with it was...the only events that i went to were the Improv events. I saw very few events listed that I wanted to attend that were not Improv events. On the rare occasion where I did see something, it was already filled up. I would consider signing up again if they increased the venues but as it stands now, I can't see myself signing up again. read more

The only shows that appear almost weekly are for comedians at the improv or at the House of Blues! I am waiting for more plays, some musicals, and concerts. Don't waste your money. Instead buy your tickets to something you really want to see. I've seen comedy and magic at Arlington Improv with very cheap tickets through another discount and was not required to purchase the 2 item minimum. What about Broadway shows from Dallas Musicals or casa Mañana or Theatre Arlington? Enough with the comedy acts! read more

I wrote a previous review back in June 2014 - gave them 4 stars even though the quality of their offerings had started to decline at that time. The 4 star rating was based on my entire time as a member. I was able to go to a large number of excellent events, concerts and shows - it was great. Sadly, I am back to update my review. This time I will rate their service on just the past 12 months. Based on that time frame my rating is 2 stars. FllASeat is awesome! We've seen plays and ballets. Concerts. Lots of Comedy, and even a movie premier. One instance the retail price of the tickets for a ballet would have been 4 times of the price of our membership. There is always something listed and occasionally something simply fantastic. I have been a FillASeat member for two years now and love it! I have been to numerous events (comedy, ballet, concerts, plays, contemporary dance, haunted house, the list goes on and on) that I wouldn't have normally sought out, and have more than paid for the actual cost of the membership. Granted, certain times of the year are slower than others for tickets so patience is the proverbial name of the game with this membership. I would also estimate that 90% of the time, the seats are pretty decent too. Their customer service staff are also very helpful, and seem to do their best with trying to get tickets for venues that they haven't listed. I can honestly say that I have "broadened my cultural horizons" by having this membership and that it's well worth the money. read more

Fill a seat was the door to me to try a lot of venues and new shows concerts and amazong musicals without putting a lot of money. you are a member and you log in and choose what venue you want. they have a wide range of things and events to choose from from all over the DFW metroplex. For the value my membership with Filla Seat paid for itself several times over. I got to enjoy several events that I would have probably overlooked or not bothered with and as a result 2013 was a great dating year for me and my lady friend. Would highly recommend it. read more

I have seen so many shows and been to so many events I would have never seen or for that matter known about if it weren't for them. My membership was paid for after going to 1 show. They are helpful and have provide prompt responses whenever I needed. (Except on Sat and Sun) Might I add, not only do we get these tix but we get awesome seats. Great deal. We are still new members - went to our first event about a week ago. Picking up the tickets was a breeze, the seats were pretty good, and we had a great time. It's also nice that the customer service is quick to respond and great to work with. We had to cancel an event at the last minute and they handled it for us. I've had my ups and downs with Fill A Seat, but overall you cannot beat the deal! You really have to log on at least daily if not more than once a day. We've seen so many shows for FREE! Kenny Loggins, Pointer Sisters, comics, Four Funny Ladies in McKinney (twice!), House of Blues just about any time you want and Addison Improv any time you want. We upgraded to the four ticket package in 2014 and love it. read more

I received an email from Fill A Seat on 02/06/13. The company is asking for 5star reviews to trade for a free gift membership, so 5star reviews from 02/06/13 may be tainted from the freebie offered. Not worth it!! I paid for a two ticket membership through Groupon for a year and NEVER got any tickets. They are always having a Groupon deal by way. When I first got this I was excited I thought I would be going to some concerts and possibly some games. WRONG!! They advertised Cowboy tickets once but as soon as it was posted it was also "sold out" The majority of the tickets they give are for shows that are either free already or are really cheap like $5-$10 for a ticket. The shows are for things like rodeos, balloon Festivals in Celina or Prosper seriously ok the entrance was like $5. All the comedy shows they had listed were shows that were already free shows at the Improv. If you sign up to be on the Improv email list you can get emails with codes for free tickets!! No need to pay for the Fill A Seat membership. I wrote them an email complaining I have pasted it below. (start at the bottom) Thank you for sharing. Terrible service. In a big city with lots of offering, Fill-A-Seats offerings don't change frequently enough. All they have are comedy club Improv events. They realy need to contract with more organizations for the service to be of any value. They offer no guanrantees or money back as of policy. So if you are unhappy with their service you are out of luck. read more

I really enjoy my membership the last few years and have referred a few of my friends to it. I have attended numerous shows with them including comedies, plays, musicals, children theaters, concerts, conference for women, and conference for travel. I know that they also get sport events and water park tickets sometimes. Their venues including places in Dallas, downtown Dallas, Addison, Arlington, Ft Forth, Rockwall, and Frisco etc. It is a lot of fun and well worth the memberships. The key of getting tickets is to log on their site a few times a day since there will be times that they offer many tickets for many shows and other time that they can be slow. We have gotten really good front and center tickets and we have also gotten really far and up high no the best tickets, so it will really depends on what tickets were left. I don't ever see myself not being a FillASeat member. Through this program, I have been able to attend events that I would have never even know about before. Over the past 3 years, I have gone to the ballet, rodeo, concerts, monster truck shows, a variety of plays, hockey games, festivals, baseball games, MMA fights, championship bull riding, comedy shows AND MORE!! I'm always amazed, and I've impressed a lot of people by taking them to these events. I wish I could mention the venues just to emphasize the cool places I've been able to see! I just renewed my subscription for another year. I didn't use it at all this winter, but have certainly gotten my money's worth this summer. One concert alone paid for the subscription and I have more scheduled this month. My year's membership paid for itself within the first month I became a member. I signed up through Groupon and they were offering additional discounts. I've attend plays, concerts. hockey games, comedy and magic shows and it feels good as you're almost like a VIP! Some of the vendors have been walk-ins without tickets however, it's nice going up to the window, providing your ID and getting tickets every weekend to events that others pay for. I don't even mind going alone as you can even eat at a lot of the venues. Definitely worth the investment! read more

I've had a membership for three years now. The first year was great! Unfortunately, it has gotten progressively worse over the years. I have not attended an event since October of 2012, almost a year ago. They simply do not have anything to offer, at all. Previously they had more venues, now all I ever see is Comedy Club tickets.... which are given away at every corner all the time.
