What a unique cinema. It's a video store with a little theater in the back. They sell tickets to their screenings on Eventbrite or at the store. They sell a couple of drinks/snacks, but it's basically just a room with some surprisingly okay seats. A screening room more than a proper cinema? My brother and I saw The Lighthouse here a couple of weeks ago when we were spending some time in Queens and Brooklyn. They screen interesting movies, and it's a very unique experience. If I lived in the area, I'd definitely take advantage of the video store and screening room! What a hidden gem.

Forward my mail!! I'm moving into the Film Noir. I've been looking for the perfect mom and pop theater that's intimate and has an old school feel. The fact this place has a dvd shop in the front is a gigantic bonus! You can find all kinds of rare goodies from foreign films to your cult favorite directors. I came here for a sexy, seventies, vampire film "Shiver of the Vampires". It was the special event during the Brooklyn Horror Festival. I rode my bike over after some brunch in Bushwick and Williamsburg hangs. It was a super quick ride and a nice calm neighborhood feel. There was already a crowd on the outside. I was worried about getting a good seat but they were all so distracted that there was plenty of good seats. There was an interesting speech at the beginning pointing out that unlike most vampire flicks this dealt with a recently married woman who was being lured into the dark side by another attractive, gothy, vamp lady named Isolde. The whole film was just what I wanted on a chill fall afternoon. I will have to add that the bathroom is small but has a cool mural of Frankehooker rules! I follow their Instagram and I swear they play like 4 cult classics back to back all the time and from all over the world. I would like to just go movie binge watching here on rainy fall days. I'm jealous of the people who love so close that they can roll over and spend snowstorms in here. Thank you Film Noir for filling that void of the intimate movie cave that I've been craving for. You make my NY life feel more complete.

Hi Yelp friends, Welcome to the "Film Noir Cinema" in Greenpoint Brooklyn. Discreetly hidden in a quiet residential neighborhood, Film Noir offers the viewers a most unique and Unforgettable movie night out. I'd like to give thanks to my Dear friend George for introducing me to this remarkable slice of Hometown Brooklyn flavor. Street parking was really easy. Walking toward the cinema, we crested the hill where the entrance was located. Wow.. down the street was such a treat.. The most beautiful views of Twilight over Manhattan awaits the viewers from the front steps. What a beautiful neighborhood this little movie house serves. Walking inside was an experience that I have not had before. Like a speakeasy the entrance to the movie theater was hidden. The owner of the establishment was behind the counter and verified my online ticket purchase. Looking around the small front office, we could see that it was packed with thousands of rare and unusual movies and videos. Looking through the collection here so many wonderful memories of seeing these features ran through my mind like an endless film. Waking myself up, it was time to go inside the theate. The theater was surprisingly large, seating approximately 50 folks it was clean and a world away in feel from the little front office that we had been in moments ago. I felt that I had slipped the constraints of reality and left all my beliefs behind. Open to whatever reality awaited I found a seat with my friend at the back of the theater. The viewers were treated to cool Pink Panther cartoons that I haven't seen since I was a kid. You don't see them on TV anymore.. I guess lest we REALLLY would try to strap a giant rocket to our backs ..Hahahaha ! With the cartoons quickly finished, our feature film flickered to life on the larger then life screen. The film was called "STARFISH", and in typical Film Noir style.. it offered no optimism or a good feelings. Those of you who don't know, Film Noir is a dark type of Cinema in which it is usually doesn't end well for the Main characters. It almost seems they know they not going to end up well. Not to give the storyline, away but the main character "cute girl" smothered in personal depression and self-doubt ,brings on the Apocalypse by playing 7 cassette tapes in a certain order. I'm getting shades of the 7th seal. But that's about the only similarity, no chess here. Or is there a game of sorts being played?? That's the great thing about artsy films and film noir sometimes the storylines are so convoluted you spend hours, days and weeks afterwards discussing what the films intended to convey. That's why this cute little secret Cinema is here!! To engage you to THINK..to look beyond the curtains. To hop into a different reality a different realm a different world a different time put on a different face and different shoes for just a little while. And then be changed forever.

Love this place! I go inside, the guy knows my face, asks me what I'm in the mood to watch and ALWAYS picks such a fantastic movie! Highly recommend this place and its amazing selection of really unique, cool movies ranging from Japanese films to Science fiction!

    Does the theatre sell cocktails/drinks/concessions?

No. It has a small lobby area with small bags of popcorn and maybe a few other things.

I like the owner's beliefs and the selection of DVDs for purchase (and apparently rental as well) + the lobby's general decor is great.

The interior is quite industrial, but it has a trendiness to it that can only be described by visiting. Although I don't often sit at the bar, I totally would if I lived closer to Williamsburg and had the opportunity to visit more often. The movies are often lesser-known, with the exception of some bigger names and you really can't beat $10 tickets. I don't often drink here (although they sound super interesting with names like "drag me to hell" and "lady snowblood"), but the food/snacks I've ordered, while not anything breathtaking, really do the trick for a movie snack. I'm a huge fan of cheese fries and the waffle cheese fries ($10) I got here were greasy, cheese, salty, and crispy and paired with a cold coke-were great. My only qualm about Syndicated is the movie selection. I'm not sure how many theaters there are, but there are very limited options so it's a bummer when I'm dying to go there but am not thrilled about the (typically two) options that are available at any given time. Definitely do recommend a visit though, even just to broaden your exposure to various films.

They also let you bring in food. My biggest tip would be to sit in the outer part of the row. The seats gave me flashbacks of being on an airplane. It was a tight squeeze getting out. Literally nobody was moving and then there was this random ballon and some guy's feet. I ended up tripping on someone's foot. And plummeting to my almost death. Embarrassing. During the middle of the film and with a small crowd, the racquet could not me missed. So I'm saving you from any future embarrassment ahead of time. The movie I picked was "B Movie: Lust and Sound in West Berlin 1979-1989" documentary. I have been trying to see this film for over two years. It captures the essence of life in Berlin in the eighties. It was truly a magical and creative space where musicians and artists would come from all over to experience. You will spot famous young baby versions of Tilda Swinton, Nick Cave, Blixa Bargeld, Keith Haring and many more. I love the music during that time in Germany so live footage of Malaria, Abwärts and Einstürzende Neubaten was incredible. I will definitely be returning with Vannesa's dumplings in hand and my seat in the outer row. Thanks Spectacle for still caring about film and sharing it with us.
