Had an anniversary staycation here at the Marriott Monterey and had a chance to enjoy the Breakfast buffet on both mornings. Due to my Bonvoy status, I was initially surprised that the hotel did not have a M Club Lounge but at check-in was given vouchers for a Continental breakfast located in the restaurant. To my surprise on our first morning it was a full on hot and cold breakfast with an omelette station. Fresh sliced fruits were very tasty. The breakfast experience was so much better than what the normal M Club provides. Service by both servers each day along with female manager and hostess matched the food experience.

We stayed at the Monterey Marriott so came here for breakfast before we checked out. They also have breakfast buffet offered but we opted for ordering our own since neither one of us can eat $35 worth of food. Our server was very nice and sweet. Food came pretty fast. Typical American breakfast, no complain.

I came here for dinner recently and it was delicious! I was with a large group and the space was great for us, as well as having our meals come out at a fair time frame. I opted for the Alaskan Halibut and it was so good! Really fresh and paired perfectly with the pasta. I chose wine to have with my meal, which was also good. They have a full bar. My only reason for giving 4 stars is that my drink order was taken and it took a very long time to get my wine, resulting in us having to ask about it again. It seems like it was forgotten about. Otherwise, the experience was great!

Had an amazing New Year's Eve here! The drinks are amazing! I had only planned on getting small bites here, but after some clam chowder and some mocktails I decided to get the prime rib dinner and it was worth it! The serving was huge! The pictures do not do it justice! The service was top notch and everyone was kind! The inside is nicely decorated, it's smaller and cozy, perfect for couples or solo dates!

We're currently staying at the Monterey Marriott, and decided to eat at the hotel restaurant for dinner last night. What a surprise it was! The maitre d' was a kind, sweet man who immediately sensed that our little one was on the spectrum. He gave our kiddo a dolphin plushy and some crayons, before seating us in the most amazing corner booth ever. Junior loved the lighting and the energy. Our server was equally nice. He grabbed us some piping hot chicken fingers and fries straightaway, so mom, big brother, and I could enjoy a little quiet time while we snacked on a delicious cheese plate appetizer. Big brother ordered the kids' burger sliders and thoroughly enjoyed them. Mom and I both ordered red meat entrees and were super happy with the results. I had the ribeye, and mama bear had the skirt steak. Both were absolute winners. Delicious, appropriate portions, and very much worth the money. We had a lovely time overall. A nice, long, happy, dinner, like we've come to expect whenever we visit Monterey. Fin and Field is a treasure, and we will definitely be adding it to our list of kid-friendly fine-dining experiences. 5 stars, all around!

Came here for breakfast as my bf and I were staying at the Marriott. Breakfast is served from 6:30AM - 11 AM. I didn't get our waitress' name, but she was a friendly Filipina and deserves a 10. However, the food is a 2 at best. Breakfast is $30/person (excluding tax & tip). They have pastries, bacon, sausages, biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash, scrambled eggs, and an omelette bar. The lady working at the omelette bar had RBF. I ordered the Spanish omelette and wish I ordered just a simple omelette because it wasn't good. The breakfast hot food spread looked promising, but everything was cold. I barely ate ~1/4 of the food I grabbed which is a shame because I'm usually not one to waste food. Even if you had a free breakfast voucher, $6 as a tip (20% of $30) is simply not worth it, but that's just my opinion. If you're all about convenience, this place is for you, but I will not return.

Great time with Fidel! Made coming back to the hotel feel like home!

Thank you Fidel for a great weekend! You made coming back to the hotel feel like home! Drinks were great and the company was even better. Look forward to seeing you again!

When we got stuck in the rain during a recent visit to Monterey, we ran into this beautiful Marriott. Since I was waiting for my car to be repaired in a shop down the street, I was so grateful to find a dog-friendly hotel to stay warm. As we sat outside the Fin+ Field restaurant at some comfortable tables, a server and manager checked on us to see if we needed anything. Noting that we had our sleeping puppy, they brought out bones and water, and we ordered a small pizza and some drinks. The pizza and drinks were great, but our service from the staff here was amazing. The made sure to check on us often and were so friendly and helpful. I can't wait to come back to this lovely Marriott and have a relaxing meal here on our next trip to Monterey.

TASTEY OR WASTEY? Totally Tasty!!!! Drove to Monterey for Car week. Watched the Mecum car auction for a while. Took a stroll across the street to the Marriott for a bite to eat! Fin + Field was fantastic. The marinated skirt steak and fingerling potatoes were the best I've ever had. The chips and guacamole were totally Sea side style (lol) meaning, authentic! Our waiter was so kind and very attentive. I would absolutely recommend this place.

The vibes are here but it all stops there…read more.. Let me start by saying that I love this place. Just needs a bit of cleaning up on their transparency. The 'keep it open' policy is something I appreciate but would also appreciate an itemized receipt when you close out. Here's why to keep your eye out when drinking at this establishment. 1- when you close out, it's helpful to verify what you consumed to ensure you're corrected charged. My receipt was the merchant copy and the customer copy. Itemized? Really had to ask for it. 2- the merchant copy - it asked for a tip and the total amount. When we closed out our beer and well drink, it was ~$28. Weird, right? So my thought was that they clearly charged something incorrect. 3- when there's something automatically charged, it had better be communicated to me upfront. The gratuity was automatically added and IT WAS 20%! No sign, no way to notify me that it was already added. It didn't even say so on the merchant or customer copy. On top of that, the copy asked for AN ADDITIONAL TIP. For something like that, I had better get great service. 4- The service here is spotty at best. There's usually one bartender for the often busy bar. Not a problem, usually. But with that high of a price, better serve your customers well and have a fully stocked bar. 5 - the options were lacking. Two things you'd think would be stocked but weren't - espresso (come on, even Kahlua) and apple liqueur for an espresso martini and appletini were too much to ask for, I guess. Overall, a disappointment. Good thing they have the vibes nearly right. But awful business practices.

But it's an intimate venue that also actually has a lot of space. High top tables near the bar, for a chic city feel and then a couple of sofas near the music. I always try to grab a seat by the stairs, and they staff accomodates me if I need them to help me snag it (because in a wheelchair I can't sit at the high tables and the sofa area is often full). That's great service for you. I came in late Dec. for a favorite local act (check out Mark Banks if you have the chance, soulful yet modern). The bartender told me they don't have coffee and that I'd have to go downstairs. I looked as disappointed as I could, and he offered to go down for me. I left him a big tip for doing that but when I returned a few weeks later for the NYE live music, I went downstairs to grab my own coffee this time. I asked them if I could take it upstairs to the music and they said they serve coffee up there now, they have an espresso machine. I wonder how that transpired. If it's from the employee suggesting improvements, that's amazing. I had a dessert the first time and a cheeseplate the second time. The cheeseplate is a great value. Good service, cozy atmosphere, live local talent = new fave spot. Btw, they have some of the same menu items as Schooners, like the Angry Prawns, etc. So non-drinkers have options here.

We made a reservation the day before and got a table outside on the pier right by the water during sunset. We started with the half dozen oysters and the coastal clam chowder bread bowl. The oysters were some of the freshest I've had and tasted really clean. The clam chowder was New England style without bacon, which I liked, and it was buttery with plenty of clams. The bread bowl had a nice crunch and paired really well with the soup. I got the grilled chicken piccata for my main. The chicken was too dry, but the piccata sauce was really good. It came with mashed potatoes and vegetables, and both were flavorful and cooked well. I also got the China Cove Mai Tai. It was nice and strong. For dessert we got a chocolate cake with ice cream. My partner continued to have some very cold coors light like which he appreciated. I switched it up from Prosecco to having a Hugo spritz, which felt very refreshing. We started with truffle fries and a Caesar salad. My partner rated the Caesar salad and the fries assault eight out of 10 on both both very flavorful dressing was fantastic on the salad lettuce was very cold. Good sign of freshness. Moving onto our entrées he had the seafood pasta and I had the cioppino pot. Both very hearty in their portions. I was shown in Photos that cioppino pot I had was overflowing with different proteins from rock fresh to shrimp, clams, mussels, and crab. It was extremely flavorful, definitely one of the best cioppino I've had. My partner thought his seafood pasta was cooked perfectly also had plenty of protein to satisfy him. Only room for improvement was that it seemed our server got pretty busy with some other tables getting all set at once. Along with the fact that they had forgotten to bring me a spoon for my soup and it took a minute to wave someone down. And an honorable mention was us being able to see in otter finishing his own dinner while we were having ours very cute super fun evening for us.

The lobby has an older, vintage feel to it, which gave it some charm. Unfortunately, the check in experience wasn't the best. The front desk receptionist wasn't very friendly or welcoming, so it didn't exactly start our trip on a positive note. Our room with two queen beds was pretty standard, but it was clean and had a beautiful view overlooking the water, which was definitely the highlight. The service throughout our stay was pretty disappointing. I called the front desk to ask for extra bath towels, and after waiting 30 minutes with nothing delivered, I had to call again. They finally arrived another 20 minutes later, which seemed way too long for such a simple request. The shower was also confusing because the hot and cold labels were reversed, and the water pressure was extremely weak. Neither of those things ruined the trip, but they definitely made the stay less enjoyable. We also ordered room service around 7:30pm. Jerry, who took our order, was very friendly and told us it would take about 45 minutes. An hour later there was still no food, so I called back around 8:45. Jerry apologized, checked on the order, and said it would be another 10 minutes before offering to personally bring it up. I appreciated his effort, but waiting well over an hour for room service was frustrating. To make matters worse, they already charge a service fee and then tack on an additional 20% service charge. The food wasn't worth the wait either. The ceviche lacked flavor and the portion was tiny, the ahi tuna wraps were just okay and didn't taste very fresh, and the Wagyu burger was dry and underwhelming. The fries were probably the best thing we ordered. Overall, I don't see myself staying here again, and next time I'd rather book the InterContinental instead.
