    Fish tacos $19.00
    Rosa W.

I stayed at the hotel for a conference and they were offering a $10 voucher at the restaurant. The first night I ordered the blackened fish tacos for $19.00 They came with fresh corn tortillas, flaky fish and a fresh pico de gallo. With a squeeze of lime these were tasty. The next time I tried the short rib tacos $19.00. They were very sweet and came with a pineapple salsa that made them even sweeter. I personally am not a fan of sweet tacos so these weren't my favorite, but they were beautifully presented and fresh. For my departure breakfast I got the full breakfast buffet. This was incredible. They had so many different options to choose from and had a fresh omelette bar. The breakfast buffet was pricey at $30 but the food was great and service was even better.

Had an anniversary staycation here at the Marriott Monterey and had a chance to enjoy the Breakfast buffet on both mornings. Due to my Bonvoy status, I was initially surprised that the hotel did not have a M Club Lounge but at check-in was given vouchers for a Continental breakfast located in the restaurant. To my surprise on our first morning it was a full on hot and cold breakfast with an omelette station. Fresh sliced fruits were very tasty. The breakfast experience was so much better than what the normal M Club provides. Service by both servers each day along with female manager and hostess matched the food experience.

We stayed at the Monterey Marriott so came here for breakfast before we checked out. They also have breakfast buffet offered but we opted for ordering our own since neither one of us can eat $35 worth of food. Our server was very nice and sweet. Food came pretty fast. Typical American breakfast, no complain.

Alaskan Halibut - comes over a chorizo sauce and pasta with garlic bread on the side

I came here for dinner recently and it was delicious! I was with a large group and the space was great for us, as well as having our meals come out at a fair time frame. I opted for the Alaskan Halibut and it was so good! Really fresh and paired perfectly with the pasta. I chose wine to have with my meal, which was also good. They have a full bar. My only reason for giving 4 stars is that my drink order was taken and it took a very long time to get my wine, resulting in us having to ask about it again. It seems like it was forgotten about. Otherwise, the experience was great!

Had an amazing New Year's Eve here! The drinks are amazing! I had only planned on getting small bites here, but after some clam chowder and some mocktails I decided to get the prime rib dinner and it was worth it! The serving was huge! The pictures do not do it justice! The service was top notch and everyone was kind! The inside is nicely decorated, it's smaller and cozy, perfect for couples or solo dates!

We're currently staying at the Monterey Marriott, and decided to eat at the hotel restaurant for dinner last night. What a surprise it was! The maitre d' was a kind, sweet man who immediately sensed that our little one was on the spectrum. He gave our kiddo a dolphin plushy and some crayons, before seating us in the most amazing corner booth ever. Junior loved the lighting and the energy. Our server was equally nice. He grabbed us some piping hot chicken fingers and fries straightaway, so mom, big brother, and I could enjoy a little quiet time while we snacked on a delicious cheese plate appetizer. Big brother ordered the kids' burger sliders and thoroughly enjoyed them. Mom and I both ordered red meat entrees and were super happy with the results. I had the ribeye, and mama bear had the skirt steak. Both were absolute winners. Delicious, appropriate portions, and very much worth the money. We had a lovely time overall. A nice, long, happy, dinner, like we've come to expect whenever we visit Monterey. Fin and Field is a treasure, and we will definitely be adding it to our list of kid-friendly fine-dining experiences. 5 stars, all around!

Came here for breakfast as my bf and I were staying at the Marriott. Breakfast is served from 6:30AM - 11 AM. I didn't get our waitress' name, but she was a friendly Filipina and deserves a 10. However, the food is a 2 at best. Breakfast is $30/person (excluding tax & tip). They have pastries, bacon, sausages, biscuits and gravy, corned beef hash, scrambled eggs, and an omelette bar. The lady working at the omelette bar had RBF. I ordered the Spanish omelette and wish I ordered just a simple omelette because it wasn't good. The breakfast hot food spread looked promising, but everything was cold. I barely ate ~1/4 of the food I grabbed which is a shame because I'm usually not one to waste food. Even if you had a free breakfast voucher, $6 as a tip (20% of $30) is simply not worth it, but that's just my opinion. If you're all about convenience, this place is for you, but I will not return.

Great time with Fidel! Made coming back to the hotel feel like home!

Thank you Fidel for a great weekend! You made coming back to the hotel feel like home! Drinks were great and the company was even better. Look forward to seeing you again!

When we got stuck in the rain during a recent visit to Monterey, we ran into this beautiful Marriott. Since I was waiting for my car to be repaired in a shop down the street, I was so grateful to find a dog-friendly hotel to stay warm. As we sat outside the Fin+ Field restaurant at some comfortable tables, a server and manager checked on us to see if we needed anything. Noting that we had our sleeping puppy, they brought out bones and water, and we ordered a small pizza and some drinks. The pizza and drinks were great, but our service from the staff here was amazing. The made sure to check on us often and were so friendly and helpful. I can't wait to come back to this lovely Marriott and have a relaxing meal here on our next trip to Monterey.

    Skirt steak... Wonderful

TASTEY OR WASTEY? Totally Tasty!!!! Drove to Monterey for Car week. Watched the Mecum car auction for a while. Took a stroll across the street to the Marriott for a bite to eat! Fin + Field was fantastic. The marinated skirt steak and fingerling potatoes were the best I've ever had. The chips and guacamole were totally Sea side style (lol) meaning, authentic! Our waiter was so kind and very attentive. I would absolutely recommend this place.

The vibes are here but it all stops there…read more.. Let me start by saying that I love this place. Just needs a bit of cleaning up on their transparency. The 'keep it open' policy is something I appreciate but would also appreciate an itemized receipt when you close out. Here's why to keep your eye out when drinking at this establishment. 1- when you close out, it's helpful to verify what you consumed to ensure you're corrected charged. My receipt was the merchant copy and the customer copy. Itemized? Really had to ask for it. 2- the merchant copy - it asked for a tip and the total amount. When we closed out our beer and well drink, it was ~$28. Weird, right? So my thought was that they clearly charged something incorrect. 3- when there's something automatically charged, it had better be communicated to me upfront. The gratuity was automatically added and IT WAS 20%! No sign, no way to notify me that it was already added. It didn't even say so on the merchant or customer copy. On top of that, the copy asked for AN ADDITIONAL TIP. For something like that, I had better get great service. 4- The service here is spotty at best. There's usually one bartender for the often busy bar. Not a problem, usually. But with that high of a price, better serve your customers well and have a fully stocked bar. 5 - the options were lacking. Two things you'd think would be stocked but weren't - espresso (come on, even Kahlua) and apple liqueur for an espresso martini and appletini were too much to ask for, I guess. Overall, a disappointment. Good thing they have the vibes nearly right. But awful business practices.

We sat at the bar, had a couple drinks and ordered a few things to snack on. Service was great--friendly, attentive and we never had to hunt anyone down for another drink, which is always a plus! We ordered the Schooners Seafood Tower, although "tower" is being a little generous lol. It's more of a seafood platter served over ice with oysters, shrimp, crab, mussels and tuna poke. Everything was fresh and the presentation was nice. Is it some huge over-the-top seafood tower??? Nooooo lol, but this also isn't that kind of restaurant and I wasn't expecting it to be. The tuna poke was probably my least favorite. It wasn't BAD, it just didn't do much for me and I've definitely had better. Now the Big Little Lies cocktail...that was another story!!! Delicious and I would absolutely order that again. We only stopped in for appetizers and a few drinks, so I can't really judge the entire menu without coming back for an actual dinner. Location, atmosphere and service get the 4 stars from me. The food? Jury is still out...looks like I'll have to go back and eat some more. Tough job, but somebody has to do it! ;)

Traveling with our dog, pet friendly spaces are incredibly appreciated, and we were able to enjoy both meals outdoors on a fine June day! However, there was some miscommunication during check-in at both the hotel and the restaurant. We were told that our stay included complimentary breakfast. Although we had initially planned to explore local spots, we decided to take advantage of the breakfast at the hotel instead. On Friday, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast, believing it was included, and then spent the day exploring beautiful Carmel and Monterey. On the day of checkout, we returned for breakfast and were surprised when our server, Rudy, informed us that our stay did not include complimentary breakfast. We explained that we had been told otherwise at check-in. Rudy was very kind and even went to the front desk on our behalf to clarify, as we were concerned about an unexpected $75 charge. Unfortunately, he confirmed that breakfast was not included, which left us confused. We decided to speak with the manager , Jessica to share our experience so she would be aware of the situation. She was incredibly understanding and, to our surprise, generously offered to take care of both Friday's breakfast and the breakfast that morning. This was completely unexpected and we just wanted to make sure we didn't get charged the $75 and we simply wanted to bring the issue to her attention to help prevent it from happening to others. We were truly impressed by her professionalism, kindness and understanding. Along with the excellent service from Rudy, this turned into an overall great experience at Sea Root. I was torn about whether to stay in Carmel by the Sea or Monterey so when I did a google search for hotels and saw this one had great reviews I picked it. I was on day 9 of my trip, was exhausted and flying back to New York the next day so I really just wanted a quality, safe, clean, nice hotel to end my trip and that didn't happen. The hotel is massive, it gave me real old school, resort vibes. Enormous lobby with televisions, dark wood chairs, giant bar and restaurant but it was horribly outdated. I mean, green carpet, I felt like I was back in the 90's. I checked in they could not find my reservation. I had booked on hotel tonight and they asked me what kind of room I booked. I told them one with a view and a manager came out and told me they didn't have any ocean view rooms. It was 10:30 at night, at this point I didn't care I just wanted to go to sleep. Eventually, after waiting at the front desk for a half hour they were able to locate my reservation. In the meantime I had left my luggage with the bell hop. They told me they would bring my suitcase up for me. I asked the guy to take it out of my trunk because I had just had surgery and couldn't do any lifting. Remember that for later. They gave me directions to my room and I couldn't believe the path I had to take to get there. Elevator up to the fourth floor, then I had to walk down an extremely long hallway, down another hall to ANOTHER elevator. Then I was to take that elevator DOWN a floor to get to my room. It felt like a joke. It was so unbelievably inconvenient. Throughout my journey to my room I noticed all of the windows in the hallway were cracked open. I realized quickly this was to air out the moldy musky smell of the hotel that desperately needed renovating. The carpet was filthy. My hotel room was so bleh. So outdated, the bed was so high I had to jump out of it my feet didn't touch the ground and I'm 5'8. The furniture was old, the carpet, I wouldn't take my socks off. I set up the luggage rack right in the front of the room so that when the bellhop brought my luggage up he could rest it on there for me since I made it clear I couldn't lift. I saw two bugs when I pulled down the comforter and at that point I was done. I went down to the front desk and told them about the bugs and that I wanted a new room. They couldn't help me. Completely ignored my request so I called the booking agency to tell them what was going on. I went back up to my room and saw my luggage in my room, horizontal on the floor despite the luggage rack being open and set up, right, next to it. Cool. I had to call someone up just to lift my luggage onto the rack because again, couldn't lift, post-surgical, made that clear. Whatever. Long story short by this time it was 11:30 pm I just wanted to sleep so I did that and left first thing in the morning. This hotel has absolutely no business charging the rates that they do. None. I would not stay here again.
