We were looking for fresh fish... Reddit suggested this spot. Fish was not fresh but the curry sauce was nice. Staff was friendly. Very laid back atmosphere. Great outdoor seating and parking on the street. Bathroom was clean and private.

When I searched for dog-friendly restaurants in Pacific Grove, this one came up, so I decided to try it. They are located at Lighthouse & 17th, and have plenty of outdoor seating. I liked that they had dog bowls available and a hose, so we could get our own water for our dog, Zoey. I ordered the veggie burger with cheddar cheese and chose sweet potato fries for a side. I also ordered an extra side of coleslaw. The burger and coleslaw were very good. The sweet potato fries, were disappointingly soft and limp. I like my fries, sweet potato or otherwise to be crispy. My husband had the bangers, baked beans, and French fries. He really enjoyed it all. The fries are thick, which is not how I like them, but my husband did thought they were fine. The service was very good.

We were driving through the town of Pacific Grove trying to find a place to have dinner. This small town is down the road from Monterey and is its a sleepy suburb compared to Monterey. There were not alot of restaurants and most of them were closed. We landed at Monarch Pub. It was a full house and we waited about 20 minutes to be seated. We sat outside on the enclosed patio, about 1/3 of the heaters were broken on this particular brisk evening. We sat next to one of the broken heaters. The menu is British pub fare. We ordered breaded calamari and fish n chips to share. The waitress was over worked, it was just her for the entire patio. So it took awhile to order and to get our drinks and food, and to even get napkins, refills, and condiments. To add to her workload, the ticket system went wonky, it didn't print the table #s. So she had to shout out orders with two other staff helping her. With folks all claiming orders willy nilly, it was mayhem. We got our calamari appetizer but got skunked on our fish n chips. That came super late. The fish in the fish n chips was fantastic. Quality, great tasting piece of cod. Firm, flaky fish. It was beer battered and deep fried .Ohhh that crust was darn tasty as well. Fried to a prefect golden crisp.hard an audible crunch. Mmm. The fries were steak cut and just ok. Anyway the breaded calamari tasted ok. Not bad, not great either. Plus I don't think k it was fresh made.

Nice little charming place. We had been here for almost a week so we starting to look for something different. I believe we had the owner take our order. He was friendly and quick with our drinks and order. It wasn't too busy. I convinced my son to try fish and chips for the first time. I think we set the bar high as he loved it. Portion sizes are good. We probably could have ordered just the single filet. It's a nice change of menu compared to the other choices in the area.

Last minute decision to eat here? It was a case of right time, right place. Charming place to eat or drink, the inside felt cozy and inviting. We chose outside as it was a lovely day. I'll always choose a pub in hopes of finding a good curry dip (I found one here!). The patio outside had good seating, welcomes pets on a lead and has a great fireplace. Service was pretty quick, and our server was friendly and helpful. The first thing I saw was the curry dip...I've been on the hunt for just this seemingly forever! So I had to order anything with fries to dip; their Ruben did not disappoint. The corned beef was tender and juicy, sliced just thick enough to stack and not be chewy. The Rye was perfectly toasted to avoid getting soggy. And the fries in the curry sauce, even now, making my mouth water! The burger was very good, cooked to temp as ordered. It was a perfect mid rare, bacon was crispy and the avocado perfect. Or drinks were kept full and we left stuffed and content. Highly recommend.

Fish, chips, mushy peas and curry sauce! Just awesome with a Guinness!

Best fish and chips in the area. Great pub, Paul and Jeff are great hosts, always enjoy our weekly visit here. If you haven't tried it, you are missing out!

I can not enough! It has a comfortable outdoor patio with umbrellas. We were greeted my a friendly gentleman that was immediate in helping us out! He must of seen that we were thirsty and in of need of tasty fish and chips! I'm not an expert yet the platter was delicious with crispy large portion! Crispy and NOT greasy! Delightful! We will be back for sure! Thank you!

I was so thrilled to check this pub out especially with our doggie, Meatball the Bulldog! How perfect right? A Bulldog at The Bulldog Sports Pub. We snagged the last available booth, and it had crumbs on there. Not clean. SMH. I went to the bar to order some drinks for my boyfriend and me since he left his wallet in the car. It was raining that night, and we parked several blocks away. The service was okay. I remember the guy bartender said $29something, but then he charged me $30something. I got the Jalapeno Margarita while my boyfriend had the Tito's Mule. My drink was very sweet with a kick of jalapeno while his was pretty good. They had music playing. It seems that there is a modern jukebox where you can pay to pick a song. There was one pool table for people to play. So many people came up to pet Meatball and give him so much attention. He absolutely loved it! There was one guy who asked if he can say "Hi" to Meatball, and we said that it was okay like we normally do. This weirdo was basically making out with Meatball; not cool at all man. Then Meatball flipped on his back, and he was holding Meatball. My boyfriend told him to let go of Meatball. It was such an uncomfortable interaction. Not normal at all. He even said, "This is my NYE kiss!" SMDH. The guy sat down at a table that is across from us, and he kept looking at us. We quickly finished our drinks, and then we left to ring in the new year at our hotel lobby instead. We should have just hung out in our hotel lobby instead of going out; it was much better there.

One thing to note, if you are 22 and under and try to come in, you will need two forms of ID. I came with just my drivers license and was almost not let in because I did not have two IDs on me. Luckily, I had a photo of my passport which sufficed. The bouncer was definitely not the friendliest. He was super stern and not the most understanding. Once you're inside, you will be greeted by a dive bar type area. There are some pool tables and seating. It is a very lowkey and casual vibe in this area. The back area of this bar is very different. There is another bar, booths, and a dance floor where there is a bit more of a club vibe. We came the Friday night before the 4th of July. The music was fantastic. The DJ this night was playing absolute banger after banger. He was playing some great throwback hits. It had to have been the best local DJ I have ever seen. The dance floor was packed with everyone dancing and we totally caught a vibe. There is also an outdoor area with tables and stools. It is much quieter and lowkey back there. We had such a great time that we decided to come back the following night. I was prepared with my two forms of ID! As expected, the crowd was much smaller (it was the Fourth of July). The music wasn't my favorite this time around but it was still fun. The only thing that bugged me a little was that their Green Tea Shots were premade. We ordered about four of them and they were poured straight out of a jug. Other than that, this place is a great time. I will definitely be back.

The smoked fish chowder was also unbelievable. A seafood restaurant is a culinary risk- it's niche- but in this case you will not be disappointed! Everything is market fresh and prepared with complex flavor in mind.

Wild Fish is a very cute restaurant in downtown Pacific Grove serving up a delicious assortment of…read morefresh seafood. We popped in for lunch and shared some appetizers and a sandwich, and everything tasted fresh and scratchmade. Our server was very friendly and attentive throughout. We started with the calamari, which came out piping hot from the fryer, and I absolutely loved the crunch of the tempura fry. It paired perfectly with a couple lemon wedges and a chili-lime aioli. We also ordered a bowl of the soup of the day, which was a seafood broth loaded with steamer clams and sablefish. They mentioned the use of coconut milk, so I had assumed the broth would be creamier, but it came out very thin and sour, almost like a Thai Tom Yum Goong. While the seafood was delicious, the broth was not our favorite since it felt a bit one dimensional and really needed some cream, cracked pepper and fresh herbs to balance the flavor profile out. For our main we ordered the spicy fried fish sandwich with a side salad. The fry on the fish was again perfect, and the texture was super flaky, but I found it to be a bit underseasoned and lacking spice entirely, which was disappointing given the name. While all of the veggies on the plate were super fresh, the side salad was very underwhelming since the dressing tasted purely of oil, so it felt like I was eating undressed spinach with a handful of cherry tomatoes. Overall, it is a great spot to have a pleasant meal, especially with the nice front patio for enjoying your food when the weather is nice, and the seafood in general is super fresh.
