They don't take reservations, but there was no wait when we arrived at dinner time on New Year's Eve. There were lots of indoor and outdoor seating options to choose from, including booths, high tables, and seats at the bar. In winter, it felt even hotter in the partially covered patio than inside, with fire pits at some tables and heaters up above. So we decided on sitting outside. There was also live music happening in the back room on this holiday evening, which was cool to check out. The art and decor in the restaurant was quirky and added character to the place. What's more, the staff was friendly and helpful and provided outstanding service throughout the evening. We got the cockney chicken pie, blackened rock cod, cup of clam chowder, and to drink, a lemon drop cocktail and big sur golden (draught beer). The only thing salty was the lemon drop, as they put salt on the rim instead of sugar. But it was still tasty and made well otherwise. The food was delicious, full of flavor without all the sodium. I especially enjoyed the creamy and savory chicken pie with a flaky crust on top and lightly seasoned veggies. The clam chowder was quite good too. It tasted fresh and was very satisfying. They're known for their fish and chips, and I can see why. The fish was delicious, not overly battered, but still crispy. I always love when a battered fish actually tastes like fish instead of greasy batter. The outdoor seating is fun because it has a beautiful view of the bay and includes fire pits at the tables. Curry fries were really good, actually tasted the curry. Service was good, both servers provided for our needs. The one downside is that you have to pay for parking and they don't validate parking, even when the parking is literally right outside their front door. read more

The fish and chips dish was good, the fish was a little overcook and the fries were a little undercooked but it tasted great and the sauce was delicious and not overbearing but balanced out the meal (which is excellent). The water tasted great (even with ice) as did the corned beef hash -- this was very good. The coleslaw is a bit sweet but overall it doesn't weigh you down and you can still have a brew without overdoing it on the stomach. There is live music sometimes adding an artistic atmosphere and I enjoy looking at the decorative walls and shelves. The London bridge pub is like taking a trip to London without leaving Monterey. The place is decorated with all things British. It is very fun! The location right next to the boat docks at the harbor is amazing as well. On a beautiful day, it's hard to imagine a better spot to eat lunch or grab a drink and just watch the world go by. I rarely get over here and it is a slice of heaven for a good fish & chips. The portion was large and hearty. I need remember that this is a great spot to drop in and grab a quick bite instead of hanging around downtown Monterey. I was promptly seated near a window to watch the tourists and boats. The server recommended several dishes, though I settled on the iconic fish & chips plate. It came with a large deep fried cod that was perfectly fried and opened up to tender fish. We ordered clam chowder (warm at best and watery) , fish and chips (too much batter and greasy) chicken pot pie (dough was too tough to cut) , the wedge salad (fake bacon) salmon dinner which was the best of all but frozen veges) drinks, which were weak and unflavored. The ambience was ok but the vibe wasn't very professional overall. When both clam chowders were removed from the table with two bowls r three hits taken, the waiter made no attempt to ask why or replace but took them away quickly. I went here when I was in Monterey for a group dinner. I did think the place was very amenable to having a large group and letting us move tables around and do separate checks. The service seemed a little harried with the large number of people who were ordering food. Also the food came out pretty quickly. The food itself was pretty average to mediocre. I was a bit dismayed how quickly my fish and chips came out because it made me think it was made ahead of time and not to order. The taste was pretty good but definitely nothing to write home about. I do think if I had been drinking alcohol I might have enjoyed it more - kind of my usual thought of bar/restaurants that the food is made to encourage you to drink more! My mom said the bean burger was just okay. The portions are pretty large. I came in loving the location with the nice view of the doc. The service was pretty good and the ambiance is just like a Pub should be. The food was what I looked forward to however, the popular items I got were very bland with the lightest seasoning I've ever had here in town. Even the BLT my family members had were very dry and had no mayo. The mashed potatoes were a good texture but had no seasoning. The gravy was okay but I definitely expected more flavor. The steamed veggies were not cooked enough and were also very bland. We happened to come in on trivia night, so hearing the the loud speaker constantly calling out trivia questions was a bit annoying but, that was not a deal breaker for me. Another thing I didn't really appreciate was that they don't give military discount and this restaurant is within earshot of the base. We went for drink happy hour and warm, enticing fire place. Upon arrival... Pros: 1) staff was very nice. We got seated right away. 2) server is so sweet and nice. She took our drink orders and food orders. She had so much patience with us. 3) foods were okay. Clam chowder was ok. 4) they have a bar, seating inside and seating outside. Cons: 1) none. Conclusion: Cute little pub. Nice to hang out and drink at the warf. Staffs were nice. The fire place on top of the table was pretty nice. I have lived on the Monterey Peninsula since 1963. Why have I never eaten here before?! I met with John, the owner, to see his venue for a Celebration of Life for my brother. He was so professional and kind. My jaw dropped at how HUGE this restaurant is! Having been to the UK many times, it feels authentic and charming. My family arrived early, so we could eat dinner before people would arrive for our event. My son and I ordered the Fish & Chips. Wow! The cod was a generous large piece. The breading was super crunchy, and not the least bit soggy. I'm picky about cole slaw, and this one was delicious. As an added bonus, I prefer cocktail sauce over tartar sauce. Yes, they have it! As far as our event, the staff was incredibly kind and so helpful. The finger foods were delivered on time, nice and hot. Staff kept checking on our guests, delivering drink orders and additional food. We will definitely come back here again and again. The view of the wharf is stunning. I can't wait for a warm spring or summer day, to sit outside by the fire. A glass of beer, fish and chips-- wonderful!
