After a 10 mile hike I thought a good meal was necessary. Our hike leader chose this location and this was the first time he got us lost. Omg! It took 20 minutes to get my order placed and I should have taken that as a sign to save my money. Wasted $20 here. I ordered the turkey club because I was with a large group who was ordering mostly fried stuff. This turkey club is $17, but im like ok, it's monterey and cannery row. I noticed the prices go up $2 more on all menu items after 5pm. I did not see a sign saying I would be charged an extra $1 for using my card. There were only 2 people inside working. Im assuming the owner and the cook. The cashier was taking orders and serving tables at the same time, which is why ordering took so long. For $17 I hot a sandwich that looked like mom made it. The bacon was so hard and cold that the entire piece slid out when I bit into the sandwich. The amount of fries I got could fit into the palms of my hands. I didn't buy a drink because fountain drinks were $5. If could have went and got something better, I would. I did read the reviews while I stood in line but I also had a 3 hour ride home. DO NOT DINE HERE. SO MANY BETTER OPTIONS ELSEWHERE!!! I don't usually leave bad customer reviews but unfortunately, my experience here was not a good one. I had seen this restaurant before and decided to stop by. The restaurant was nearly empty, so before ordering, I asked if I could use the restroom. The manager, or whoever was working at the counter, seemed very irritated by my question. He rolled his eyes and rudely told me that the bathroom was across the street, repeatedly saying, "Go outside and go across the street." Being pregnant I would have expected any business owner or representative to be kinder and at least have manners. I understand that businesses may have certain restroom policies, but there was no reason for the response to be so rude and dismissive. His attitude immediately made me uncomfortable and I immediately exited. On top of that, the restaurant was visibly dirty, and there were bugs all over the windows. I had the restaurant to myself on one of the prettiest days at the Bay. Location is nice: close to parking, shopping, aquarium, Cannery Row, bike trail, & Lovers' Point. When have been a long time customer of the years. We were in town and thought we would bring the child's and grandkids. The food is not what it used to be to be. The service was okay. We had to eat outside since the inside smelled like something burning. You felt like you couldn't catch your breath. It is right across the street from the aquarium, should be a hot spot. I have to say I can see why the rating for this restaurant is mediocre. I'm not sure when they acquired the building, but from the looks of the floor, it looks horrendous (see photo). The customer service wasn't friendliest, but also wasn't rudest either. I decided to sit inside the dining room and the table was really sticky. The chairs are mismatched and so are the booths. it's obvious they try to make the restaurant to be a "trendy" restaurants/diner. $$22 for fish and chips and five dollars for soda... I decided to choose one of the burgers. I know why they charged extra it's because they are literally next-door to the Monterey Bay aquarium where they can charge extra because of tourist. If tourist can go a block down the road, they can get the same, probably even better quality, fish and chips at a cheaper price. I ordered their Hawaiian burger. If you don't mind extremely well done hamburger with an unripened pineapple, enjoy. Originally, I was going to give this place three star rating, however, due to everything I had mentioned above, I'm lowering this place with two star rating. After giving the 10% tip, I'm regretting that decision. I actually am giving this place a 2 because the fried artichokes were good and the young man was friendly however the older (possibly owner) is not friendly and seems angry. I ordered the fish and chips, and this dish came with three of the saddest child-sized palms of fillets that seemed to have been previously frozen. The fries, while crispy, were dry and needed ketchup just to get through them. Even more embarrassing, this place gave me a lemon wedge that was practically dry. Coming from a burger lover- this was hands down the best burger I have ever tasted. Clearly handmade patties were juicy and the edges were a little crispy. Husband got an oreo shake and it took everything in me not to drink it all when he offered me a taste. Service is what it is. Some people just have a different demeanor. People (especially the yelp reviewing kind) are too sensitive nowadays. Maybe you guys should be a little more understanding of the neurodivergent. Honestly, I found it kind of amusing. Delicious! The restroom toilet had a ring of mold around it, a clump of hair was on the floor, and what I will call "water" splashed all over the toilet seat and floor. After several hours at tue aquarium stopped in to get a kids chicken tender meal for my daughter. Not even chicken tenders.
