He quickly assessed that the problem was not the roof but the sealant around an upstairs balcony. So although that meant no work (or money) for him today, he gave us his honest assessment (and his advice on how to fix). I got a bunch of estimates for our reroofing job in the Hollywood Hills and Final Touch was neither the highest nor the lowest. When we were trying to decide on a shingle color, they gave me a list of nearby clients with new roofs they had completed, so after a quick car tour I could see the color shingle "in real life." It made choosing the color super easy. Lia gave me lots of information over the phone and answered all my questions. Ovi and his crew showed up on the day they specified and did the job on time. They also liaised with our solar panel installer (thermal solar for our pool water) so that the supports for the thermal panels could be properly installed and waterproofed. Oh, also the DirecTV fellow! We opted for thermal Low-E insulation (more $$) and we can definitely feel an improvement. Our permits went smoothly and Ovi helped me apply to LADWP for a rebate. When a tile decided to glide off the roof without rain or wind, we knew it was time. I contacted a few roofers and the first to respond was Final Touch Roofing. Given that we are at the edge of their service range (Westside), it took a few days to schedule an visit, but the patience paid off! We have an old tile roof, needed to get a new tarp underneath the tiles and some wood needed replacing. Ovi's proposal was clear, detailed and very reasonable. I was very impressed with the workers that Ovi hires, friendly and obviously knowing what they are doing. The site was cleaned every day and as non-disruptive as daylong hammering on the roof can be. The inspection went without a glitch, thanks to the help of Ovi's wife who came over from the valley and - like Ovi - was a pleasure to interact with. I had noticed that they did not refinish a small awning with tiles over the kitchen window. Even though this had not been included in the original quote, Ovi came back and did it free of charge! I selected Final Touch Roofing for the re-roof of my house because they gave me a competitive price, and just as importantly, Ovi was knowledgeable and "current" re: the aspects of energy efficiency and roof construction. As a retired LEED AP (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design Accredited Professional) with a structural engineering background, I had a pre-prepared list of questions for each of the roofers I interviewed. Ovi was, by far, the most knowledgeable about radiant barriers and other upgrades I wanted included in the job. He is experienced, very professional, and was not only willing "to work with me", but made a few additional recommendations associated with building a "cooler roof". The contract states "There are no hidden fees or extra charges...", and that was the case - a refreshing experience these days. Ovi was at my house every day (I'll miss our chats), and Angel (Ovi's foreman) couldn't have been more patient with my "involvement and personal inspections", and he managed his crew (Jose, Angel Jr., and Jonathan) and the entire project to my complete satisfaction; admittedly, not an easy accomplishment! The job involved the removal of over 3,000 concrete tiles (at 27 yrs., still in excellent condition), which were stacked in my backyard, the removal of the underlayment and original wood shingle roofing, the removal and reinstallation of a Solatube skylight and Solar Star roof fan, the installation of a new roof deck with radiant barrier, high-quality underlayment, elevated battens, and the reinstallation of my concrete tiles. While we expected approx. 10% breakage of the tiles, there were actually far fewer broken. And, Ovi and Angel worked painstakingly with me to make sure that the new tiles required were the best match possible, and that they were located to my satisfaction. The job was completed as priced and a couple of days ahead of schedule. We are already enjoying a noticeably cooler roof in our house and garage! What can I say that the other reviews haven't already said, Ovi is not your typical contractor. He really cares about the costumer and what we could afford . We were in contact with him last year and decided to wait until we realized the amount of leaks we had after the huge storms that LA was hit with. He didn't question why it took us so long, he just added us to the schedule and within five weeks we had our new roof redone. The process took almost a week and was a bit loud as you can expect with roofing but when the crew left every day the yard was cleaner than when they got there. I called in an hour before dark and Lea could not possibly have been more helpful or more pleasant. Being that a new roof is very expensive, I made sure to do my research and proper due diligence in selecting the perfect contractor. I interviewed 4-5 other companies, but I decided to go with Final Touch because they gave me a shorter job completion time at a very reasonable price. They removed the existing old metal roof and replaced it with shingles. From start to finish, they kept the exterior of my home very clean and tidy. They have been in the business for a long time and their knowledge and experience showcases that.
