Over the years I went so many times to do hair cut and sometimes color. Now I have changed to go other salon because of their high prices and about nothing really special service. It was convenient but I never felt I was appreciated as a long time customer. The manager male is never friendly. Maybe he is shy but can't hurt being more friendly. Went to get Japanese Hair straightening. The stylist was very kind and the service was very good. BUT When I was leaving the salon my neck started to itch and get red. I broke out with red burning rash around my neck for a couple of days and my hair never felt so hard and damaged. After washing my hair 3 days later, it was worse. My hair felt like wire and could not even put a comb or a brush through it. I called the shop to let them know about the damage and the stylist said "I've been doing this for 22 years and .... No apologies. apology should be first thing being said, instead he made it sound like it was my fault. I've had highlights and bleach in my hair and gotten straightened. Never damaged like this. If you were doing for 22 years, you should know better. I went back to the shop and there was a crazy customer who kept following me and harrassing me. Pointing her fingers at me. I asked her to get away from me many times, but she did not stop. The employees there asked her to sit down but she wouldn't listen, just kept harassing me. She would stand inches away from my face screaming "don't touch me" over and over. Pointing her fingers at me harassing me. She is lucky I didn't call the police and have her arrested for harassment. If you love your hair, don't go to Finca. They will damage your hair and blame you for it. Maybe that crazy lady will be there again to harass you. I've been here twice. The first time I had my hair cut by Misa. She mentioned she would be going back to Japan in October for a vacation. So I waited until the beginning of November to call to make an appointment. My bad. She was all booked up till the middle of the month and I wanted it cut before the weekend. So I scheduled my appointment with Miki. All the stylists seem to be from Japan. Both Misa and Miki were here less than a year when I saw them. But both spoke English so there was no communication problem. I liked the cuts that I got from both of them. Perhaps because it was the first they both cut my hair they wanted to verify what I wanted by showing me photos from their phone. Maybe they weren't confident enough on understanding my description? But I thought it was nice that they wanted to make sure we were both on the same page. There is parking. Enough for the shop and the two eateries that occupy the building. She is super kind and cool and asked a lot of questions and did check ins to make sure I got the hair I wanted. I have tried low to high end salons, hairstylists from many different race and ethnicities from east coast to west coast. 98% of the time they assume I have fine and thin hair, and cut and style my hair in a non suitable way - I usually end up with a poofy mess even when I tell them my hair type and to thin my hair out. Because of this, I hate getting haircuts and usually get it only once a year. I only ever had two hairstylist in the last 2 decades that really understand and tailor the cut for my fine and thick hair. Glad to report that I found Paku and he is one of the two stylists. Paku really listened to my concerns and my lifestyle, and suggested a length and cut based on the style I want. Now that it's been a week or so, I love my haircut even without styling it. read more

They really are awesome with working with our thicker asian hair and make it look great! Idk i got a hair cut from a dude with blondish hair man, i was uncomfortable. as in awkward. i showed him what i want and hes like "oh that's just a style" and i said "yea i know i just want it short to look like that" but then he's like "what do you want" and i said "this hair style like shape" and he did it and it looks good. it was just awkward as hell. Wish I can give zero star. Horrible customer service been Japanese hair salon. When I walked into the salon nobody greeted me, instead they were all looking at me. My stylist was rushing to do my hair, could not open my eyes when he was drying and almost burned my head. I had to move my head because it was too hot. The worst thing was when I got in my car, I felt my shirt was wet. I have never had hair salon wash hair like that. Very disappointed. Yelp review was pretty good but looks like only person is very good at this salon that surviving in Hawaii. I'm a little surprised that there aren't more reviews for this shop because it's almost always booked full for appointments. I have been coming to Finca for a couple of years now but started coming in to cut my hair regularly when the pandemic struck and I became unable to constantly cut my hair in Korea. I'm always satisfied with my haircuts from Kazuya. Haircuts at Finca are on par with what someone could get if they were to cut their hair in a salon in Japan. When possible, given current supply concerns, they use Japanese products which is nice. You can make appointments online. Availability for the upcoming month opens on the first of each month around 9 AM. So, if you want to have any hope of getting in, spam the website at the beginning of the month. read more

My favorite hair salon in Hawaii! Last time I came here I had Saori as my stylist, and I came in here not knowing exactly what color I wanted. I was very indecisive yet Saori walked me through different colors, showed me pictures, and did everything to find out what tone I wanted. She was very friendly and kind and made the entire experience great. I got a root touch-up and cut by Paku and am very satisfied with the result! He matched the color and trimmed/thinned my hair so that it's clean and even--it had deep uneven layers from a bad cut at another salon in spring. He's also very nice and thoughtful, checking in with me throughout the process to make sure I'm happy with what's being done. I went in for a haircut & showed the stylist what I wanted. They seemed like they understood what I wanted. After my haircut & looking closer at it, my hair is uneven. One side is at least an inch shorter than the other. I'm very disappointed & upset since I will have to have even more cut off to get it evened out. It also doesn't even look like what I showed them. I have a love/hate relationship with my hair. I've always worn my hair long. 8 years ago when I had to go through chemotherapy, I could not bring myself to shave my head, although I was left with few tufts of patchy spots. I am a wash, towel wrap then air dry kinda gal. Don't even own a brush. When I get up for work in morning, it's wrap it in a bun then walk out the door. Because of the low maintenance, it's been a while since a hair cut. My hair was pretty damaged. My daughter also needed some cleaning up so I went on trusty ol Yelp to find a place. Called Finca Salon, and was able to get an appointment for the two of us at 1:30. Parking lot is small but we were lucky enough to get a stall right in front. Nice, clean, airy salon. While waiting for our appt, overheard a customer gushing about how much she loved her new look. Maddy went first, and I appreciate how professional and understanding our stylist was with my emotional teen. What a difference though! Love her hair! Looks really healthy. I had a picture from one of the books that I wanted, and she explained the whole cut to me. She cut off all the damaged ends and created the cutest bangs. Turns out that she's the owner of the salon. Yumiko is awesome and her prices can't be beat. It was $68 for the both of us. She also gave me a stamp card. Will definitely be back here again! read more

Even with a number of price increases over the years, Finca is still a great value. I've been seeing Yumiko for a few years and have always been pleased with her cuts. I don't get my hair colored or any treatments, so I cannot speak to those services. I do, however, appreciate Yumiko's honesty when I've inquired about coloring my hair and knowing that colors like blue, pink, or purple fade quickly, so I don't spend all that money thinking it's going to last a long time. Unlike some other hairstylists who disregard what you say or the picture(s) you show them, Yumiko will give you the haircut that you ask for. Due to my hair being on the thicker side, she always checks if I'm ok with her thinning it out and/or layering it so that the style will look better. She also asks if I want bangs or not and if I'm ok with where she parts my hair. Being a Japanese salon, Finca is incredibly focused on customer service. Everyone is so nice and polite. I also trust their COVID-19 protocols. No waiting area inside; instead, you can wait in your car or sit in the chairs outside. Temperature check and masks are required. Hand sanitizer is also readily available. All stations are spaced apart and they sanitize chairs after each use. You can conveniently book your appointments via their online booking system. They only open up appointments one month ahead, so be sure to get in early as appointments fill up very quickly. read more

I had a Japanese straight treatment and as a result, my hair was irreparably damaged. I left the treatment on for 48 hours as the hairdresser instructed. I washed my hair at the end of this 2 day period, and was horrified by the results. The hair was stiff, did not have any type of movement, it was like it was glued and was basically breaking apart. After almost 3 months away on travels, I returned and I went to tell them. I originally did not want to leave a bad review, but rather wanted to let them know face to face. Their attitude towards me was pretentious and very disappointing. They tried to blame it on me (said I probably bleached my hair!!!) and refused to acknowledge even the possibility that they could have made a mistake somewhere. The result is I won't be going there any more, and I do not recommending letting them near your hair. Try Unique Monique, best hairdresser in town instead. read more

Today was my first visit to FINCA Beauty Salon and it won't be my last. My entire experience was a very positive one. I was in desperate need for a haircut. I have very thick, heavy, straight hair. Many places I've been don't seem to cut it the way I want. I used Yelp and FINCA Beauty Salon popped up. I called this morning to make an appointment for a haircut. I assumed it wouldn't be for a couple of days, but they had an opening this afternoon. My stylist was Yumiko. She was very friendly, helpful, and personable. I told her that I wasn't sure what I wanted, but I know I wanted my hair to be shorter and lighter. She flipped through magazines with me until we found something I liked. The shampoo job felt amazing. I got a head/scalp massage too. Once the cutting was over, she gave me a shoulder massage, which was very relaxing. I went to Finca to color my hair a few days ago. I have always wanted a blended color that was unique. I found it at Finca! My stylist for color and cut is a wonderful woman by the. name of, Yujin. She is great!! She chose a really subtle blend with lavender highlights that my work buddies thought was absolutely fab! I highly recommend Yujin, she's creative, and great to work with. I have extremely long hair (past my waist) and have been getting perms all my life. Because I do them infrequently (every 3 years), it's hard to find a consistent hair dresser. And EVERY time I tell the stylist I want to keep my hair longt, they cut it to my bra strap and then make a very tight curl so my length is now to my shoulders and I look like a poodle. Misa is the only stylist that has ever been able to do what I want. She trimmed my hair, layered it and thinned it out in areas. She then did a digital perm and the results were awesome. My length is still at my waist and the curls are soft enough that I don't look like a poodle and I don't smell like chemicals. Don't let Misa's young age fool you. She knows exactly what she's doing and is very meticulous. She's also very conscientious. Every few minutes she was checking to make sure I was ok especially when she was detangling my hair and when the heat was being applied to my hair. She estimated 3 hours for my wash, trim and perm and she nailed it almost to the minute. The price I paid to have the services done is extremely reasonable especially for my long hair. I will definitely be going back and won't wait 3 years. I hope Misa will still be there when I do! read more

went in for a haircut and got Paku. i didn't want to get my hair shampooed because i have curly hair and i prewashed and brushed my hair. i was informed that i would still have to pay the full service price. but i assumed that he would style my hair and make the service worth the $75. he didn't. i walked in, got my hair cut and walked out within 15 minutes with no other service provided. i paid the $75 and even tipped but i am very disappointed with my service and expected a lot more given the amount of good reviews and recommendations. read more

Yumiko was fantastic and the services you get for a $38 haircut is incredible. When she asked how I wanted my hair done, I wasn't quite sure. She brought out a book on 2016 men's hairstyles. I picked a couple styles and asked her recommendation. She picked one. She was very meticulous with every snip she made. Everything was hand cut and there was no supercuts buzz action in this cut. When my cut was finished, she washed and conditioned my hair, with a nice long head massage. After getting back to the chair, she cleaned up the loose ends and styled it perfectly. It looked very close to the picture we chose. She advised me how to style it on my own with the products I had (cuz you know you can never make it look the same on your own). But this morning I did it and it looked the same as when I came out of the salon. But back to my haircut.... after she gave me a nice head and shoulder massage to end my session. It was one of the best haircuts I have had. Being a dual giri giri guy, most stylist have trouble cutting my hair to my liking. Very personal and professional and followed my instructions to a "T". I brought my son here as well to see Matt. My son is 6 and very squirmy but Matt has done a great job with him every time.
