I know perms. I've been getting perms off and on since I was in third grade. Once digital perms were invented I sat through the 3 hours of hot heavy torture once a year to have my loose beautiful curls. Imagine my delight to meet Sandy who tells me that due to developments in the industry I can have a regular perm, get big curls, in ONE HOUR. I was skeptical but eager to try it. Consider my mind blown. I was done in less than an hour, had my usual bouncy big curls, that I was still rocking five months later! Only the hair that had grown out was straight! She's basically changed my life bc she also said this new stuff doesn't fry your hair so I can get it more frequently now! I went back for a haircut and she was done in less than 30 min and created an amazing shag. She's a hair wizard. Plus I love that we can book appts on KakaoTalk. She's very responsive. Parking in the back lot is free for customers until 5pm. You can enter from King or from keeaumoku right after 939. The door to go upstairs is on the way right side of the building if you're facing it from the parking lot. You'll need to ask her to give you the code to get in. read more

I asked for a perm then I showed her what I wanted with some preference photos and Sandy took them into detail from trimming my hair down and then whether I ask for the perm to be wavy (more or less) and she takes it into account. I recommend coming to her if you're on a time crunch because it takes about 30 mins - 1 hour for the process. read more

BEST HAIRCUT OF MY LIFE. This was my first time trying this place. I saw that they actually had reasonably priced guy perms and that had me sold. I have very straight Asian hair that is often difficult to work with. Especially for mainland barbers. I wanted to try out a new style so I went for a Wave perm. She executed it perfectly. I showed her a picture and she got it 1:1 accuracy. This is a highly underrated place. It definitely sold me as a customer. I've been to a few top rated asian hair salon, like M-irror, salon Mei, salon Ava and soho salon. Sandy is by far the best hair stylist i have ever met in hawaii. If you are a FOB (from Korea, Japan, China, Taiwan and Hong Kong) or if you likeK-pop artists style, she is as close as you can get to a stylist you can find from your homeland cause she understand what we need and how to work our hair. I almost don't wanna write this review because she is so good and i wanna keep it as a secret, but she is a young entrepreneur and i admire her work ethics. She is not in this for the money. This is my to go place for any hair related issues! I have been going to Sandy's Beauty Salon for few years now and it never disappoints me. You can get any haircuts, perms, hair coloring, and hairstyling done there! If you want the latest style or Korean style haircuts, this is the place to go! The service is very professional and friendly, as they offer you coffee or tea. The workers there are very nice as well. I recently had my wedding and it was a headache trying to find a hair stylist that gets the job done for my hair since it is super straight and could not hold. I went to Sandy's and my hair completed the wedding look and I had a memorable wedding. I believe she is one of the few stylist in Hawaii that does wedding hair styles. I also cut my hair super short recently and I am satisfied with the results making me look fresh. Where do I start? I didn't want to post a review, but now it's a month past when i got my hair cut by Sandy(at least I think it was her? She didn't introduce herself..., no name tag) and after my hair has grown out I realize just how much she messed my hair up. I'm broke I might have to just fix it myself somehow. So, aside from the fact that A) this place is weird to get into because you need a lock code to get into the building & there's homeless out front the building in the driveway doing drugs. Also hard to reach number when trying to get in, as the stylist is also the assistant it seems? I know it's a small salon, but They need a front desk/receptionist hello! B) it is so small and not well ventilated and hot, so ur just in there with all the chemical smells from treatments. C) I believe they maybe are not adept at helping non-Korean customers because the communication was almost null. She asked for a picture of what I wanted, couple basic questions here and there. I really think the language barrier is what screwed me here. She totally butchered my hair. It looked good after a blow out and hair straightening with flat iron, but I realized after just a couple weeks. She gave me a hairstyle I didn't ask for. Never did I ask for an Asymmetrical hair cut, but that's what she gave me essentially. And it looks very weird when I have in a pony tail. Basically I can only have my hair up, and even if I had a flat iron and wanted to style it, everyone would see it is not even on the front. I have slight OCD: this really bothers me! Again: NOT WHAT I wanted. Was supposed to be simple rounded shoulder length Bob. Like Adele. Very disappointed. Don't go here If you are not Asian unless u speak Korean, they won't be able to figure out how to communicate and properly cut your hair. She could have used Google translate if she was unsure of what I wanted, or perhaps she just isn't as great as everyone says she is. read more

I got my hair straightened from Sandy several months ago. I had no doubts because it's a Korean hair salon! But no no... please don't come here. She made me feel guilty having a lot of thick and curly hair. More importantly she did a TERRIBLE JOB on straightening my hair. Overall my hair turned out really bad. I can understand that it can be difficult since I have very curly hair and I didn't expect to get my hair 100% straightened. I was more disappointed in the terrible haircut. I asked her to thin out my hair and do a bit of layering but she didn't seem to know what I was talking about. I had a difficult time with my hair afterwards and did bother to go back to ask to fix it. I have since been to different hair salons after this and all the hair stylists were shocked that I got my hair straightened not so long ago.
