This location is in Santa Barbara's "Funk Zone" district, which was formerly an industrial area that's turned into a wine and art district full of interesting places to gander. The Good: * Huge dog-friendly covered outdoor seating * Full lineup of their signature Shalhoob craft beers. They also have fermented grapes and liquor, if beer isn't your jam. * Service was friendly and welcoming. * Street Parking and City-owned lots, as well. The lots are your best bet, and they're free for a short while. * Prices are very reasonable for a BBQ place. * The Street Corn app might be the best thing we ate here as the corn was super fresh right off the cob, and the Chipotle aioli was superb. * BBQ Beans was more of a bean soup, but it was decent. * Mac & Cheese was also pretty good. Carrots enjoyed it more than I did, but I might've been grumpy from the shitty meats (more on that in a minute). The Meh: * Tritip was completely dry and tasted like it was cooked in the oven and then finished on the grill. But, I will say, at least it was edible unlike the ribs... The Ugly: * Maybe the worst ribs I've ever had. They were just completely hammered with salt and completely blew out my palate within two bites, which is a shame because they were tender and cooked well, but jfc, no amount of sauce or anything is going to save something this salty. Conclusion: Maybe we just caught them on a bad day because a place doesn't survive for over fifty years serving up meat like this. I'd be willing to give them another try someday, but I need my tongue to recover first.

I was also a little surprised that bread and butter cost extra if you'd like them before your main course. Overall, I want to thank the chef for preparing such delicious food. We also wanted to try the Soft Shell Crab, and you can get it as an appetizer or an entree. The appetizer comes with one soft shell crab that's been stuffed with Bienville crabmeat dressing, coated the cornmeal flour, and flash fried. It has just the right amount of crispiness! It's served with a jalapeno beurre-blanc and rice. For our entree, we shared the Crawfish Pasta Lafitte. We couldn't get enough of the crawfish tails so decided to get the pasta that had them as well. The pasta also had caramelized onions, tomatoes, mushrooms, cream, and creole seasoning. Very tasty! Would recommend this pasta! For the fun part that I mentioned--they have a magician that walks around and does magic tricks at each table! It was entertaining and very cool to see some of the tricks up close! They also have a Sing-Along moment in the evening where they'll had out lyric sheets to everyone, turn on the music, and everyone sings the song together. Early Saturday morning, a group of us did beach yoga right in front of the restaurant for a bachelorette party. Later that evening, the bride realized she had lost her engagement ring in the sand. We came back, searched everywhere with no luck, and eventually asked the restaurant if anyone had seen it. The general manager immediately stopped what she was doing, gathered her employees, and actually came out to help us search the sand. Thankfully, a patron had found the ring and turned it in to the restaurant, so WE GOT IT BACK!! I was so excited I didn't even catch the manager's name--I just hugged her! All the waiters and waitresses started clapping and celebrating with us. It was such a sweet moment. The integrity of everyone here deserves recognition. Someone easily could have pocketed an engagement ring, but instead they made sure it got back to its owner and genuinely cared about helping us find it. And while I was searching, I have to say...the food and drinks coming out looked delicious! After this experience, I would absolutely come back to actually eat here. We just left the restaurant after having been told that we should try out their banana milkshake for dessert. We had a great meal at Bouchon just up the street which I would highly recommend phenomenal food great touch. Why we left to come here is anybody's guess except it had great yelp reviews and my wife really likes banana milkshakes. We sat down and waited 15 minutes to get served and another 15 minutes to get her milkshake. It was totally melted waited five minutes for the waiter to come by showed it to him and he said oh yeah they were eight on the counter yours must've melted let me get you another one. It was like drinking water. He brought the second one and it wasn't much better we drank an ounce or two of it and left it. when the waiter came by and asked how it was we told him it really wasn't any better than the first he then proceeded to walk off we threw $10 on the table after he bought us our check and left. You would've thought he would've offered another dessert or something since obviously whoever is making the shakes had no idea what they were doing. We had made a reservation for dinner there tomorrow night which of course we canceled after we walked out. I wish I could say this was our only bad experience at a Kimpton hotel or Kimpton restaurant but unfortunately it isn't. Approximately two weeks ago we went to a property in DC showed up at 9:30 at night to be told that they gave away our room asked if they could help us find another room she said sorry just leave if you don't want the accommodations that we can offer. Don't need to go any further except to say kimpton has expanded to quickly and although they have qualified people in certain places they've allowed other employees who shouldn't be near any of their properties to work for them. RUN away from this restaurant as quickly as you can. Just read another comment on yelp about a local three months ago talking about how the banana milkshake had changed it used to be in a mason jar now it's in a small glass cup now and they are blended now as opposed to layering it. His comment was exactly the same as mine don't ever have a dessert at this restaurant go to the ice cream shop across the street glad to see somebody else knows what a good dessert taste like. read more

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Finch & Fork restaurant yesterday and I must say it exceeded all my expectations. Despite making a last-minute reservation for a party of 10, they were able to accommodate us without any hassle. The hostess was incredibly friendly and made us feel welcome from the moment we walked in. Now let's talk about the food. It was absolutely outstanding! We started with the Black Garlic Caesar salad, which had the perfect combination of flavors with the little gem lettuce, parmigiano-reggiano, and brioche croutons (grilled chicken was a bonus!). The King Salmon with gigante beans and piquillo peppers was cooked to perfection and the marbled peewee potatoes added a delightful texture to the dish. One of the highlights of the meal was the Short Rib Pappardelle Pasta. The combination of the tender short rib, wild mushroom soffritto, and crème fraîche created a rich and flavorful dish that left us wanting more. And let's not forget about the 12oz Creekstone Prime New York Steak, which was cooked to perfection and served with delicious weiser farms potato, baby carrots, cipollini onion, and a mouthwatering red wine demi-glace. Side dish: Lemon Herb Broccolini was a delightful surprise. The flavors of preserved lemon, calabrian chili, and garlic elevated this side dish to a whole new level. It was truly amazing! To top it all off, Finch & Fork offers free valet parking, which was a huge plus for our group. Overall, I can't recommend Finch & Fork enough. This is a great place, maybe even my favorite restaurant in all of Santa Barbara in terms for service and food. I come here almost every day after Yoga with some of my friends for breakfast, this is seriously the best restaurant you can find in the small city of Santa Barbara. The tourists love it, the locals love it, everything is amazing. I usually start my meals with their juices which are only six dollars, they have the best freshly squeezed grapefruit juice and who could forget a good orange juice? They have some really good fresh fruit smoothies too that I like getting too. They have a nice local honey smoothie and also Greek yogurt one that fill me up for only seven dollars. For breakfast I love to get their Deviled eggs which you can share with friends for only eight dollars as a starter. For my main course my friend and I usually split "The Chop" which sets you back 19 dollars, it comes with smoked salmon, quinoa, amazing avocado of course, and really sweet cilantro dressing. One of my favorites would have to be the "Huevos Rancheros" which sets you back 15 dollars, it has delicious hot crispy tortillas, cotija cheese, laid with salsa and two eggs over easy for the perfect meal after a hard workout. I dined at Finch & Fork for brunch and was blown away by the Short Rib & Sweet Potato Hash. The meat was so tender that it melted in my mouth, and the sweet potatoes were just as soft and sweet. While I wasn't a fan of the brussel sprouts, which I found slightly bitter, the dish as a whole was delicious. I also tried Bailey's Brioche French Toast, and it was well-executed. The sugar-coated walnuts, strawberries, and blueberries that came with it were a perfect complement. The butter, vanilla mascarpone, and maple syrup tied everything together nicely. While the food was great, the service could have been better. Our food came out a bit slowly, and our server wasn't very attentive. Despite this, I still enjoyed the overall experience. Lastly, the restaurant was beautiful - the ambiance and vibes were perfect. I would definitely recommend Finch & Fork to anyone looking for a great brunch in a beautiful setting! read more

Loved the place I can not wait to get back to Santa Barbara to try some different food. My husband and I were there for a special weekend away from the kiddos and I feel compelled to tell you about this restaurant. The place was busy and hopping as we were there on a Saturday night. For the busiest day of the week there was no wait and the food was timely. The place seemed very busy and the atmosphere was enjoyable. We had the Ribeye and Scallops and both dishes were delicious. The scallops literally melted in our mouths. For dessert we had the smores and I did not think it was possible to make smores better, but the salted caramel was fabulous. Finch & Fork is our favorite place to eat in Santa Barbara. The only critique I have is their beer prices could drop a little compared to what's available in the area. Other than that, all of the food is awesome! On the pricey side but well worth it, even the kids PB&J looks great! We normally skip the kids meal and go for the short ribs, best ever. I love the trout as well, the deviled eggs and Brussels sprouts are the way to go for apps. The daily specials are really where it is at! I could eat the Wednesday bouillabaisse or Friday seafood pot pie every week and my lady and her gals love Thursday Pork & Cork. My hubby and i found this place exploring Santa Barbara's streets over the weekend and we stopped in for brunch. Hospitality was off the charts from the host Rene and our waiter Pablo! They both were smiling each time they spoke with us and made sure we were enjoying ourselves. Food was great - try their roast pork belly twist on eggs benedict! Amaaaaaazing! Deviled eggs were super yummy, too. I didn't share with my hubby after he got a taste hehehe i liked that they served fresh pressed juice options. This place is A-Okay! We've had our X-mas Party Lunch there twice! First time was better than the second. A couple mistakes with our orders (as it normally happens with a large group) but service was excellent! We had a great time! They validated our parking receipt and we got free parking, which was cool. Second time, service was meh. Our drinks were terrible. Thank goodness it was on the boss' tab. I probably won't be paying for happy hour there. Food choices are alright and they have a reasonably priced lunch menu. It's great that they have healthy options. I would like to start out by saying the server was awesome. Russ was attentive and knew a lot about the menu. I ordered the New York Strip and the Mascarpone Cheesecake for dessert. The food took a while to come out and when it eventually did I thought that it was a little underwhelming. My steaks fat wasn't rendered properly so there was a lot of hard (somewhat inedible) fat remaining on the steak. The rest of the ingredients weren't as warm as they could have been. The dessert arrived and it was excellent apart from a certain flaw. I thought that the base was a little soft. The base should provide a little of resistance when it comes to chopping it. read more

Went here with my girlfriend and had a tremendous experience. It was real busy, the service was great and the food was better. We had the scallops and seabass. The best part is we had the waiter match our food with wine and he was spot on. We started out with some delicious oysters and a beat salad, both were delicious. Love the carrot puree with the beat salad. We topped our meal off with a milkshake and cake that was fabulous, seriously the coffee cake was off the charts. This is hands down the best meal experience I have had in a long time. I ordered off the lounge menu and got the Bacon Burger and the Mac n Cheese. The Mac and Cheese is perfectly cheesy and delicious- has bits of bacon in it. About the size of your hand, but a good starter to share with someone. Next, the burger. White cheddar cheese and bacon jam - need I say more? It was good sized and worth every bite. Oh, that bun is good too... THE BEST ITEM: The fire roasted milkshake. Just order it. It has caramelized bananas, marshmallow whipped cream and graham cracker bits. This milkshake alone is worth driving 2 hours from LA. read more

Really enjoyed my meal here. I had the some delicious Kusshi oysters and the Ribeye. I was not disappointed at all and I liked that the ribeye was organic. My wife had the sea bass and it was impressive, the sauce was devine. The service was knowledgeable about the local wines so we bought a local bottle of Pino and it was marvelous, I suggest asking for the Stanford if you like drinking the local grapes. Finally we had the Sticky Toffee cake for desert and it was delectable. Can wait to bring my Mom there for mothers day. Easily one of my favorite restaurants in town. I absolutely loved the ambiance. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. The dark wood furnishing, warm wall colors, leather seats, wood beams, hardwood floors, and Persian-style area rugs provide a relaxing sophisticated dining atmosphere. Our host Brian and server Josh were enthusiastic and helpful with the menu. Had the deviled eggs, mushroom soup, fried chicken, and scallops. Not a single dish was disappointing it was all delicious. Finch and fork has grown to be one of my favorite restaurants. I love to grab a seat at the bar. I usually start with their daily soup, I've had their butternut and the potato leak, very creamy and velvety and that always add something crunch my ontop so there is some texture. Brussels sprouts are great, a little sweet but if you enjoy dishes that aren't as savory this one is for you. Love the salmon and the the short ribs. Haven't had any dessert but then menu always has good options. Service is friendly and the cocktails are always good. read more

Had maybe one of the best dinners of all time. The waiter Brett was amazing. He nailed our whole experience. We started with the mac n cheese....and then moved on to the trout and duck...oh my god...I thought I was in heaven. I have never had duck so tender before it was like a filet mignon. To top it all off it was our anniversary, we had a bottle of wine from the SB area was amazing. I think it was the refugio or something like that, but ask the waiters they know. My girls and I go here all the time, I haven't been disappointed yet. We love the milkshakes, the brunch and breakfast food. They also have a kids menu for those of you who are wondering. I don't understand some of the bad reviews this place has received, they have been great on several visits of mine, friendly staff that is tentative, and knowledgeable. I guess some of those bad reviews are from people with bad attitudes to begin with. I'm looking forward to my next visit. read more

Had dinner last night at the bar for the first time @ Finch & Fork. Loved the fried chicken, honestly the best I've ever had!! The chicken was crispy, moist and all the above, pure edible bliss. I had to say I was equally impressed with the mixologist Bruce, hands down the best bartender in S.B. and made my night with his charm and liquid skills. Overall between the chicken and Bruce, Finch & Fork has the best thing going on in Santa Barbara!! Will definitely be my new spot!! read more

I like the sit down area across from the restaurant. But the main restaurant leaves much to be desired. The Canary is a classy hotel, but the restaurant is not. Firstly, it has now become very expensive. Drinks are expensive, as is the very average food. The hors d'oeuvres of chicken wings was poor. The main meal was just OK. The server mumbled and seemed not to like his job. As for the desert: my oh my. A glass of chocolate milkshake. read more

Me and my husband and kids fell in love yesterday morning. We go out for breakfast every Sunday but decided to try something new that none of us have been to. After finding Finch and Fork on yelp, we agreed to try it out. WOW was this one of the best decisions we made...the eggs were AMAZING. Plus my hash browns were the best Ive had since moving from Wisconsin! My kids lovedddddd there pancakes and french toast. We will be back! read more

Both of these entrees had such amazing flavor. I'm not a truffle oil person and they left that out of the risotto which made this meal amazing to say the least. My eight year old son doesn't eat hardly anything and he was fighting for my wife's wagyu ribeye which was so flavorful. We ended the night with several desserts and a decaf-cappuccino. Everything from start to finish was simply perfect. We thanked the chief and everyone on the way out and chatted with the owner for a few minutes. Looked similar to a gas station bathroom. Spent over $250 and left feeling pretty disappointed. Definitely will take our business elsewhere. Won't be coming back.
