Our dog passed away at 14 years and when were ready for a dog we started looking on pet finder. We contacted Finding a Best Friend Rescue for a potential dog. Regina was prompt with responding to emails and we scheduled a meet and greet. She is very knowledgeable about animals and takes great care of them. She made the adoption process easier than I could've expected. She's always available when I have questions and helped us acclimate a new dog into our home. I highly recommend this rescue.

I love Finding a Best Friend! We adopted our baby Boris from them in 2018. They were communicative and easy to work with. We are in love with our boy. Finding a Best Friend is a great rescue and they continue to have many wonderful animals up for adoption.

I saw a picture of my dog baby on Instagram and I immediately told my partner I must have this baby. I completed the application process and after I was approved, we picked up my Isaiah within a couple of weeks. Isaiah is blind in one eye from birth and was a feisty little thing. At the time, Regina was caring for two litters of puppies rescued from horrible conditions and their mamas. It takes an incredibly dedicated and courageous person to encounter some of these situations, and I'm so thankful for Regina and her crew. We paid the adoption fees which are very reasonable, being that my dog baby was neutered, vaccinated, chipped and Regina was treating Isaiah's infected blind eye and had a vet bill from his treatment. I support Finding a Best Friend Rescue and I stand behind their mission. Regina is an angel. Thank you for saving these dog babies from horrible situations.

"Tiny Terror" also known as my sons best fur friend.

Finding A Best Friend Rescue...is literally just that. My son was able to find his best fur friend, who is also a rescue from this awesome non-profit safe haven. My son has been asking for a puppy for quite some time and I have been putting it off. I personally was not ready to take on the responsibility full time by myself. Now that my son is a teenager I gave in and allowed him to get his first pet. In February, Finding A Best Friend Rescue participated in a Natomas community event and had "best friends" of all shapes, colors and sizes ready to be adopted. My son liked two puppies in particular. A little black puppy and a little brown puppy that were brothers. The tiniest runt 'aka' the black puppy, was stealing the hearts of many with just his tiny stature and adorable face. A week later my son and I attended another event that Finding A Best Friend Rescue was participating at in Davis. My son's heart was set on coming home with the black puppy, but the black puppy was under the weather. My son, eager to come home with a new companion, settled on the brown puppy. It has been two weeks since the adoption, but my son feels that he made the right decision. Since I am living my childhood through my son, since I was never allowed to have a pet, becoming a puppy owner is completely new for us. Ms. Regina has been truly a blessing. I have contacted her for numerous suggestions on how to give a bath, to potty training advice to eating schedule. Ms. Regina is a life saver, not just for the animals that she rescue's, but for adoption families, such as myself. It takes a special person with a big heart to be an advocate for animals, take care of their well being and make it their mission to have rescues adopted out to loving homes. Ms. Regina has been amazing and truly a blessing in more ways than one. I believe in giving a person 'their flowers' (words of gratitude) while they can 'smell' (hear) them. Ms. Regina will be blessed for her many good deeds. Here's what to expect when adopting a pet: *A application is required *Driver's License (some form of identification) *Home Inspection (it's not to be nosey, but to make sure that there's no hazards for the puppy/puppies to injure itself.) *Background check (checking for animal control violations & animal abuse, etc.) *Copy of rental lease specifying the property management does allow pets. *Donation fee for the adoption *Microchipping *Vaccination(s) The entire process can take a few days to possibly a week. This "Tiny Terror" has put me through the ringer and still does from the forgetfulness of where to go for potty training, to loss of appetite, and crying, whimpering and barking at night time. I have watched numerous videos on advice and helpful tips. I realize that it may take up to 3 months for fully potty training and for the puppy to get used to being in aew environment. Ms. Regina has sent me numerous tips and video links that have helped me to better understand my new role. This personal touch of customer service is not available anywhere else. Ms. Regina truly wants the best for all parties involved, it's genuine and it shows. I hope my Yelp review will help you decide on becoming a fur parent of a rescue animal from Finding A Best Friend Rescue. Consider fostering to see if becoming a pet owner is right for you. If not, donate to a good cause. It's truly a pawsome opportunity.

We found a new best friend during COVID. Marley

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE this rescue. They are by far the most knowledgeable, honest and most responsible rescue I have ever dealt with. We met them first during COVID when my daughter wanted to rescue a dog. They were very honest about the dog we chose and arranged a visit with us to see the dog. After that went well, they arranged a home visit to make sure our dog and home was compatible with our rescue. They worked with us on introductions between the dogs and stayed for a quite a while. Well it's been 2 years and we decided that we were ready to save another one. Once again, we knew what we were getting and we could not be more happy with him. I will never go anywhere else and would not recommend going anywhere else if you truly want to adopt. All of the dogs have been socialized and are great with kids and dogs (unless otherwise noted). These folks have become an extension of our family and we are so grateful that we came across Finding A Best Friend. Well worth the hour long drive to Stockton from the Bay. Check them out on Facebook and Instagram if you wanna see more.

I saw a picture on pet finder and I fell in love. I live in San Jose and found out that the rescue was located in Stockton. My husband and I drove to Regina's. First meeting with Regina I knew right off the bat, She was a lover of all animals. I remember the first moment she brought out my dog. I just knew it. He was coming home with us obviously when getting a five month old puppy you don't know what kind of behaviors it may possibly have but because of the loving foster home that Regina and her rescue provided he was well trained, not food aggressive, and got along with cats. I am completely in love with my Harley and 4 months later decided he needed a little sister so we got another beautiful pup from here. This rescue does so much work in the communities, I highly recommend you going to get a dog from them. We need to support our rescues. #dontshopadopt

    This is Kato!

We were looking to adopt a puppy. We found the cutest little Yorkie, named Puff through Finding a Best Friend Rescue. The application process did not take long and the staff is so pleasant and efficient. They told us our pup's story and we knew immediately that we were going in the right direction to rescue versus purchase. Our puppy is now grown and still happy at home. His name is Kato and we always like updating his rescue family with pics. We highly recommend FABFR!

Finding a Best Friend clearly cares about their animals and they strive to find the best home for them. We adopted a rescue dog from them several years ago and she clearly has become the bestest of friends with us! I highly recommend getting a rescue dog and getting one from Finding a Best Friend!

Our first photo with Boba Fett, the day we brought him home!
    Addi M.

We adopted our senior pittie Boba Fett from Finding A Best Friend Rescue after I met him at an adoption event. He has very recently passed and I miss him every day, but my heart is also so full of gratitude that FABFR rescued and rehabbed him from truly terrible conditions and brought him into our lives. We were determined to spoil him for his remaining years and did just that, but truly we were the ones who were spoiled; Boba was well-mannered from the beginning, universally loved by every person he met, an absolute gentleman at the vet, and the most polite host whenever we had guests. I can only credit the hard work of FABFR for all they did to help him. Those looking to adopt from FABFR can expect a group of passionate volunteers with big hearts who put the animals first. My advice is to be patient on the communication front - I think especially in Silicon Valley we have a culture of expecting instantaneous responses, but please bear in mind that this is a very small team with limited resources and they are constantly working towards improving the lives of the animals in their care, such as emergency vet appointments, raising newborns that came with their rescue mamas, connecting animals with fosters, running adoption events. Sometimes their work is a matter of life or death for the animal in the moment. So please, be patient. The adoption process is thorough, like other credited rescues - it's clear that the mission is the well-being of the animal first and foremost. You have to sign a contract, but other rescues do this and frankly should be required because you're making a commitment. They're not there to help humans pick out any dog, they're there to ensure a dog that is going to the best home for that dog's needs. Once you adopt, you can expect to be part of the big FABFR family! It is so heartening to see literally hundreds of other people sharing updates, showing support and offering help when needed.

If I could rate this rescues 100 stars, I would!! My partner and I adopted our first kitten graham cracker when she was only a few weeks old. she was a rescue. After a few months, we began our search for her forever pal. We looked endlessly. Finally, we came across Ophelia (Pam at the time). As soon as we put in our request, I was responded to almost immediately! We were so excited. We ended up moving forward with the adoption. Now some GREEN flags for me: - We had to fill out an application to adopt - We had to have a home visit to insure we were the right fit - We had many questions to answer as to why we were fit parents - We had to sign a non-declawing document (promising not to declaw our cat aka mutilate them) Now, I know this may sound daunting, but this is how it should be done! Animals are a life time commitment and ensuring your home is safe and healthy is in the best interest of the animals. The process itself was seamless, easy, and fun! I got many photos of Ophelia and became friends with her foster mom, Christina. Her and I still talk today! She loves seeing pics of Ophelia and hearing updates. And knowing Ophelia had the best life possible before she joined our family means the world to me. If you're looking for an agency that is safe, cares for their animals, and will take their time to make sure you're with the best fit, this is your rescue. If you're looking for a money focused agency that will sacrifice the wellbeing of their animals for profit, this is not the establishment for you. Keep doing what you're doing!!

If you're looking to adopt from a wonderful, reputable, close knit non profit organization, I highly recommend, Finding a Best Friend Rescue. You'll be happy to know that they are very involved with helping structure your perfect adoptive pet. They are a foster based rescue and rest assured that all the dogs, cats, Guinea pigs and rabbits live in a very safe, loving environment. All under the supervision of their board members. All fosters are thoroughly screened and have become very close and involved with the adoption process to help anyone interested in learning to help. When I adopted one of my many dogs through them, I was so relieved to see their hands on support approach. If I ever had any questions or moral support, they were always there for our family. Please consider adopting through this amazing rescue. I promise you will have a wonderful experience with life long new friends.

The team behind Finding a Best Friend is incredible! They go out of their way to help dogs and cats in need and support them the entire journey from rescue to adoption! They helped us discover our beautiful dog Bolt who has changed our lives a thousand times over for the better! 10/10 recommendations!!!

The founder Regina absolutely treats all her rescues as her own until she finds the best homes for them! We stumbled upon an adoption event by Finding a Best Friend Rescue back in 2022 and walked out with the most handsome little guy ever. The rescue kept in touch to make sure the little one settled in and we stayed in touch to provide updates! She cares about all her babies for their entire life not just through their adoption. Highly recommend adoption or fostering through this Rescue! We've done both and they're certainly the best.

I drove 45 minutes specifically to find Stella & Chewy's stew, which is the only brand my dogs eat. I was actually really excited at first the store is big and has a great selection. However, almost immediately after walking in, I got the feeling that we were being watched. At first I tried to ignore it, but it quickly became obvious that multiple employees were following us around, pretending to stock shelves while staying close to us the entire time. I've worked in asset protection before, so I can recognize that kind of behavior. It made me feel extremely uncomfortable and anxious, especially since I already deal with social anxiety. At one point I even told my mom I wanted to leave because it felt like they thought we were stealing, but we stayed since we didn't drive that far for nothing. When we finally checked out and were leaving, several employees stood near the entrance just staring at us, which made the situation even worse. I've never felt so judged and unwelcome in a store before. What should have been a positive first visit turned into a stressful and upsetting experience. I won't be coming back and will just continue purchasing elsewhere.

I rarely write reviews, but people need to be warned…read more I paid $3,500 for a French Bulldog from this breeder and was told the dog was AKC registered. After reviewing the paperwork myself, I had serious concerns about its legitimacy. Now, at just THREE YEARS OLD, my dog is losing bladder control and quickly becoming paralyzed. This has been absolutely devastating for my family--especially my youngest daughter, who is heartbroken watching her dog decline like this.(myself included) From the beginning, my dog has had ongoing health issues, including severe allergies requiring constant vet visits, Cytopoint injections, and expensive specialty food. The emotional and financial toll has been overwhelming. I've since learned more about serious conditions like IVDD (Intervertebral Disc Disease), which can be more common when breeding is not done responsibly. Based on my experience, this raises major concerns. I will also say this: my interaction with this seller felt unusual. Meetings were arranged in public locations rather than at a residence, and I was never given a clear sense of where the dogs were being raised. Looking back, that lack of transparency is something I would not overlook again. In my opinion, charging a premium price for a dog that develops severe, disabling health conditions this early in life is unacceptable. Do your homework. Ask hard questions.
