**VERY DISAPPOINTED! ** Came in prepared to spend up to $1k on a scope for my M1A rifle. I asked an employee & he pointed me in the display cases where their scopes were kept, but that was the extent of the service I received. Stood there for 30 minutes starring thru the glass cases without anyone asking me if I needed assistance or wanted to see anything. NO FURTHER SERVICE RECEIVED. Both employees were too busy bs'ing about sniper movies with 1 other customer.... So i did what any other customer should do in this situation... My boyfriend and I have both purchased guns here in November. We both had a great buying experience. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful and I had a lot of questions. They have a lot of cool used and consignment guns -- I ultimately decided to purchase a consignment gun and feel like I got a great deal (I was able to negotiate the price down). I have recently began developing my skills and inventory with hunting and target practice. I have shopped county wide and have purchased at other locations other than Fine Firearms - HUGE MISTAKE on my part. The staff at Fine Firearms are knowledgeable, courteous and most of all - professional. Wasted my time multiple times don't go here.Very rude and not considerate for customers at all

So I saw this spot and had to go in and check it out. As I'm a Range Master for my Army unit and I have been shooting from the age of 6 and enjoy going to the range. I was looking for a SOCOM or M14 this place had both and Mark3 which I was willing to throw my cash down on the spot. My experience wasn't all that great. I walked in and was greeted with a wave, hello, and a smile, after that nothing else. I walked around the store a little to see what they carried and what the prices on the items they carried were. They do carry a lot of items but some of it looked very cheap to me nothing on parts that look worth purchasing. In the back area of the store was a dump table. This table look like people come over and throw all their extra parts that they are not needing on the table throw a price on it and roll the dice. I did this for about 10 minutes with no one asking me for help. I noticed that they had 3 employees up front older gentlemen was helping two customers and the middle gentlemen was helping 1 customer that had two guns. The younger one finished helping a customer then sat there and read a few pieces of paper. while there was 6 customers standing around to be seen. I was second to last to come in and was still looking at prices. Prices on ammo was OK Walmart is less then 2 miles away and because of the experience I will be going to Walmart for my ammo. Prices on guns they did have a few older model guns on the sells floor were ok in price. The hand guns in the case were about $20-$50 over price compared to other places. They did have a nice selection of guns but didn't display the prices clearly for the customer to see forcing them to wait for help if there was help or catch a few prices. Rifles were packed tight behind the counter so you couldn't really tell every thing they had because it was just all mashed together. It sounded like they had a gun smith in the back but 2 out of the three that were working hadn't really time to help. I have 2 guns that do need the smithing done to them. This place is in serious need of help they might of lost a customer and need to evaluate their strengths and weakness but this is like going into a 1980's gun store and no real help. I give them a low star for service and price but gave them the 2star for their selection. read more

Gun stores can suck - it's easy for shoppers to be intimidated. I'm not one to put up with that sort of treatment, but despite having been born with a trap gun in one hand and the US flag in the other, I've been given the cold shoulder in more than a few local gun shops. Last Saturday, I heard a promo for Fine Firearms on 1170AM from a radio show called the "Garage Hour", so I thought I'd pay them a test-visit. Fine Firearms did not suck. In fact, the shopping/conversating/handling experience was comfortable and easy, and I felt almost immediately at home with the guys there. Young, old, military and adventurer, they all were very respectable and friendly. It was intriguing to see so many vintage and used rifles and handguns - collectibles, even - in stock side-by-side with the new weapons. They've got a huge selection of ammo, and a friend of mine who uses the pointy end of the stick for a living told me the prices at Fine Firearms are some of the best this side of Arizona. I'm not the type to suffer fools, and these guys are not. Knowledgeable, sensible, experienced (with lots of time in the US Armed Forces between them), and most importantly to me, none of the gun-snob BS that several other gun stores in the area appear to specialize in. The gents at Fine Firearms made a customer out of me in one visit (and the busy showroom suggests they've done it for other folks too), and I'll bet a shiny copper they can make a greenhorn gun-interested newbie feel at home too. read more

If you're not white, male, conservative, and from a 'gun family', purchasing a firearm can be an intimidating experience. I am half those things, but not the other half, so I found myself in the intimidated category when purchasing my first gun. At best, many stores treat you with complete indifference; at worst complete disdain. At Fine Firearms I met friendly staff that were more than willing to explain everything to me. On two trips there (one to purchase and one to retrieve a rifle) they had 3 guys working and 5-6 guys in the store. Both times they gave me 1 HOUR of their time, answering all my stupid noob questions. Secondly, they just hand you whatever gun you're dreaming of while you're waiting. Or you can grab one of the consignment guns off the racks in the store. Contrast that with certain other shops that seem reluctant to hand you one across the counter, even after they've locked the trigger, removed the firing pin and mag, and mad dog you the whole time. They even let you dry fire, abandoning those old wives tales about 'damaged firing pins'. Lastly, in my shopping I didn't find a store with better selection. If you know THE gun you want, you can't just order it on the interwebs. You gotta find someone selling it in person. So selection is huge. Some shops have like 6 rifles and little display of pistols. FF has a whole wall of long guns and two long cases of hand guns. Seriously good selection. Overall, outstanding commerce experience. read more

These guys are great... always helpful and willing to go the extra mile. They will "find" what you want even if it an "impossible to find" item. I have been more than satisfied with their service, and willingness to work with you on used guns. And they have great prices on the new stuff. I believe in shopping in your neighborhood, with local merchants that remember your name. I do get it that some folks want instant service and they should shop at the big box stores and use self-checkout to save time. I prefer to shop with folks that will spend the time with you and make sure you leave happy. read more

Friendly staff, but I wouldn't come back. In 2010, I had a Glock 17 on back order and the sales guy said he would notify me when they had Glocks in stock. I had to call them every week for 3 weeks. And till this day they haven't called me! I ended up buying a Glock 17 from P2000. read more

Had to buy from another vendor and do the DROS again.The owner of the store contacted me and essentially had an attitude of what i perceived as "i don't care". Not a nice person but what i will consider as rude, pretentious, and sarcastic. Not an iota of remorse or apology for the inconveniences caused to customer. Finally got the refund. UPDATE- 02/04/13 Buyer Beware!! This business does not deserve our hard earned money. Have received several emails from the owner trying to instigate a confrontation, being rude and accusing me of misrepresentating facts and lying while it's the other way around and they are the one's lying because they are concerned about profiteering. The latest email by the owner was received on 02/04/13 at 5.53 p.m. Please contact me if you need more information and would like to see any paperwork and the tone of the owner's letters. Here are some facts for you folks who are interested. 1-Between 01/22/13 and 02/22/13 i have spent $ 1688.70. That is within a span of a month and i would have bought more merchandise if this would not have happened. That is a considerable sum of money for many people in the present economic situation. 2- The gun in question was ordered on 01/12/13. I was told that it's in stock and will be ready for pickup after the 10 days waiting period is over. Note: There was no mention that it might be delayed or there was an indefinite waiting period. 3-Go to pickup the gun on 01/22/13. The salesman says that the gun isn't there yet and should be in within the next couple of days. He further advises that Chase is the one in charge of it and he can give me a better idea. I then ask Chase that if he can track the firearm and give me an ETA. He comes back in less than a minute and says that it has not been shipped yet and should be shipped either Wednesday or Friday. He also added that it's beyond his control and it might be delayed even more. At that time i told him that i was not advised that there might be a wait. He says that he can cancel the transaction and give me a refund. I say i am willing to give them couple of days more. 4- Go to the store again on 02/25/13 and the gun was still not there. Asked to find out the status and was told that it has not been shipped out and beyond the store's control when it will be delivered. NO ETA! Cancelled the purchase and was told by David that money will be back to the account within 12-24 hours. 5- 24 hours pass and no refund. Call Chase and was told that it might take 14 days!! Imagine 14 days for a refund!! How would you react? 6-Had to contact the City Of La Mesa on 01/28/13 asking them to intervene because was getting nowhere with Chase and no refund. 7-Received a nasty voice mail from the owner on 10/31/13. Called them back but nobody would pick up. Sent an email to the owner so he can get a better picture and maybe he was not aware what was going on. 8-Got several emails back, rude, argumentative, pretentious and lying. Told him that i was not going to waste my time responding to him. 9- Got another email today accusing me of lying and misrepresentating. The owner says that the gun was there within thirteen days. Please do the math. It was ordered on the 12th and wasn't even shipped from the distributor by the 25th and was thus cancelled on the 25th(that's thirteen days). Hence this update for all you people out there who might have similar experiences. read more

Spend a lot of time and money to this place. The crew, John and Nick like to joke a lot on how I cheated the store by going to turners at el cajon, but I've always reply that's how the free market works. So on to the review, Bill and Morris help me out on my CA compliant ar 15. My rifle turned out really well because Nick had adjusted my pins on my carbine and putting on more custom parts with a little more adjustment on my buffer tubes. This is a store offering real world experience and knowledge for a the seasoned or first-time buyer. I have never seen a customer ignored, have seen folks lined up out the door, (I've been there), and was given the same respect as the guy in the front of the line. This is not a car lot with salesmen circling you for the kill. If you want to buy cheap ammo, dog food, and do your grocery shopping at the same time go to Wal Mart. Great, great place to buy a firearm! I finally decided to get my first handgun, and of course, after having a positive experience just getting my Handgun Safety Certificate, I knew I'd be coming back for my purchase! Everyone is so friendly, always greeted when you enter, and helpful at FF. Jim was able to help me try out different 9mm. He was very patient, and explained each one thoroughly. He was respectful of my price range, and made sure I made the right decision. This was my first time shopping for a handgun, and Jim did an awesome job going through the different parts, and what I should be looking for as I narrow down my options. After almost an hour and a half, I decided to go with the SP2022! After my 10-day wait period, I was finally able to pick it up. The day I picked it up, FF was very busy; but everyone was helped in timely manner. I had another employee (sorry, can't remember his name!) help me go over my paper work for the last time, and since he knew I worked with Jim during my purchase, he handed me over to him for the CA gun safety demonstration. I have shopped at fine firearms many times before. They are friendly and knowledgeable and I like to support local businesses. On this visit I wanted to get my barrel threaded for a break. The owner let me know it could take a few weeks depending on work load. I dropped the rifle off at 12 pm on sat. I got a call at 4pm saying come get your rifle it is finished. Talk about under promising and over delivering! I also had them install a trigger on it at the same time. Awesome service. It may not be the norm but you know they are getting things done when they can. read more

Great crew at Fine Firearms. Nick and John set me up with a Tikka Roughtech hunting rifle in 7mm Rem Mag. They built and installed an in house muzzle brake for it. Today I got to shoot it for the first time at Pala. After bore sighting at home, it only took 2 rounds to get zeroed. I only brought 20 rounds. My next 17 of 18 shots were all hits from 315 yds out to 680. I was very impressed with the recoil management considering the magnum cartridge on a lite platform. Gotta say, i came home from the range feeling very satisfied with my purchase. read more

First off, I must say that I do not do much reviewing here on yelp or in general. But I had such a great experience I wanted to share it with those that are interested. Over the years I have bought a few guns in this store. The team has always been very helpful and courteous which is something I genuinely care about. For many years I had longed to get into the "Custom" build arena and get something built that was unique and built to how I wanted it to be. In talking with John, he said "Yes, we can do that!" and sounded excited to get it done. Fast forward some time and I brought the action in to get started. John was very patient and thorough with all the questions and options that I has been considering. When asked, he gave his thoughts on it but ultimately left all the decision making up to me. At every turn and step in the build John was on the phone with me telling me what was going on with the build and asked my opinions and directions I wanted to go. As a first timer into the custom gun build scene John and the guys made it so painlessly easy that it was a pure pleasure. To me, it says a lot when I get a call on Sunday morning telling me my stock came in 2 months early and that it would be done ASAP. I cannot speak for the rest of the people that have had custom work there BUT when your gun shop is as excited for your build as YOU are, well I just cannot convey how comforting and exciting it is knowing they are invested in this adventure as you are. I recently found out about this store and I am already a fan. I have bought guns from Tuner's and American Shooting before and the Turner's experience was crappy, American is alright but can be a bit stuffy and the facility itself can be jam-packed because of the range. At Fine Firearms, you get a nice big store with super friendly people to help you out and way less crowd. You don't need to spit out gun knowledge to get treated better haha. The guys are super helpful and nice. They don't make you feel out of place or give you that stuffy gun-store attitude. My fiance was looking to purchase her own gun and the guys were very nice to her, patient, and even gave her tips on how to rack the slide easier. The selection in stock is also the best. There are at least 10 display cases of hand guns vs the typical 2 or 3 from other stores. An example being, I checked the stock on a particular gun from American and it would need be special ordered vs FF where they had 3 variations in stock. I will say the prices can be a tiny bit more expensive than other stores, but to me that is worth it to come here. They also gunsmith and refinish/paint (using Cerakote) which is good to know. When I was on the market to purchase my first gun, I started going to other stores and kept getting the same gun-snob attitude that new buyers keep hearing about. When I arrived to fine firearms, it was a pleasant experience. They definitely made a regular customer out of me. I have bought 4 out of my 5 guns from there. If I didn't buy anything, I still feel like I was really helped out. Chase, Dave, and Patrick have really been attentive to the customers needs. Selection of handguns: 10/10 They carry mostly glocks and sigs but also have other big name brands. About 5-6 display cases for handguns. Selection for rifles: 8/10 they do carry a lot of new and used and cosigned rifles. They do not have AK platformed rifles or AR lowers or uppers. But they do sell complete ARs. Yelp can be a frustrating platform because it seems like a lot of people only use it to slam businesses where they had a "bad experience". I decided to walk into fine firearms after having some negative experiences at some of the other bigger chain stores in San Diego and couldn't be happier that I did. I've been in the store a handful of times now, and every single time I've been greeted and helped immediately or told "we'll be with you as soon as somebody is available". This is very reasonable as businesses that provide good customer service can be busy at times. I've interacted with 4 or 5 different staff members, each of whom have been friendly, knowledgeable, very professional, and helpful. I'm not a "friend or relative" of anybody associated with the store or business. I just appreciate great customer service in a day and age where it seems very hard to come by. Terrible customer service! I brought in my Remington 700 to have the factory barrel removed to have my rifle rebarreled. The owner Jonathan agreed to remove the barrel and asked me what I intended to do with the rifle afterwards. I told him I was going to have the rifle rebarreled and he gave me a price estimate on the cost for him to rebarrel my rifle. I asked him what the approximate turnaround time would be and he couldn't give me an answer. I told him I would consider having him rebarrel my rifle and also consider some other options. Jonathan called me the next week while I was at work and spoke to me in a very angry and rude manner. He told me he removed the barrel and that he would never do that again for me. He accused me of having him remove the barrel so I could ship off the receiver to another company. He went on to tell me that he's been a gunsmith longer than I've been alive and that there's no other better gunsmith than him. I did not appreciate the way he spoke to me and hung up on him because I did not want to engage him in an argument over the phone while I was at work. I went to fine firearms the following day to pick up my receiver and barrel he removed hoping Jonathan would be there so I could confront him face to face for the way he spoke to me over the phone. Unfortunately he was not working that day and an employee told me he only comes in once a week. No wonder he couldn't give me a timeframe to complete my rifle if he only works one day a week. Needless to say, I will never be a customer again! I am part of a large hunting and shooting community and have told everyone I know about the way Jonathan treats his customers and not to do business with him. Never purchased a gun before, in fact I really don't like guns but as my house is been broken into two times I figured we better find some sort of protection. So we purchased a 38 Ruger revolver. I did notice that the staff were a little on the standoffish side. They were a little smug and a lot tired I figured. I purchased the gun and had to wait the 10 days to pick it up. When I went back in, it took forever for anybody to help. I was supposed to be there at four which I was but I didn't get out until just before six. That's a long time to wait for them to quit screwing around. But I got my gun and I left. I doubt I will purchase another one there. I was already scared going into a gun shop and they certainly didn't make me feel any more at ease. read more

This was my second firearm that I purchased through this dealer. Everything was as courteous and professional as the first visit! The salesman I worked with was respectful, gave unbiased information, and helped me with what fit MY needs. Upon pickup, another employee (I believe it was the manager/owner) conducted the safety demonstration. He was very detailed and completed a great demo! Definitely coming back to purchase again. Went to fine firearms to purchase a gun for the first time. On 1/14 I purchased the gun from Morrie K., filled out all the paperwork. Waited the 10 days, got a call saying my application was delayed. So waited the full 30 days. Got another call today, saying that my application was undetermined. Well Morrie K. knows and fine firearms knows they can legally still sell me the gun, but will not! I know there is nothing wrong with my application. I have been cleared for TWIX and I was a fire Marshall, have a passport. I did the live scan and record check to clear up any discrepancy. Now Morrie K. Does not want to wait, he wants to restock and start all over, therefore me losing 200 dollars. They haven't been helpful in this process at all. Plus they want to charge me a restock Fee for a gun that was in their store. They could have told me that when my application was delayed what the process would be to clear it up, but no help at all. So, basically Fine Firearms are stealing 200 from me. read more
