I purchased the Silver The French Laundry Gift Experience Card on May 13th on the website. I called asking if the gift card would arrive before Sunday, May 18th and was assured it would be if purchased that day. So I did. Since the recipient lives in California, there was a 1-business-day option for FedEx Home Delivery (photo attached). Thursday I see the label was created but not shipped. By Friday the gift card was still yet to be shipped. I called that Friday morning and asked why the package had yet to be shipped. They apologize (only reason I gave two stars instead of one) and then told me that packages are picked up only on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. So it will be picked up today and then it would be two business days. This is the ultimate Thomas Keller merch store. They have branded gifts representing all of Thomas Keller's entities -- Bouchon, French Laundry and La Calenda. You can find aprons, clothing, cookbooks, cooking utensils and almost anything else you'd like. The high quality products are displayed in beautifully lit white shelves showing minimal clutter. It's as impeccable of a presentation as any dish at a Thomas Keller restaurant. If you want gifts, souvenirs or mementos from Yountville, this is a great choice.

This shop is pretty, tidy, and organized with such precision that it's an OCD person's dream. Fearful that I'd disturb the balance in The Force, I was afraid to touch anything! This gorgeous little shop carries all things Thomas Keller! If you are a foodie, aspiring chef or just a fan of high falootin' cuisine, you need to pay this place a visit. It's the perfect place to buy a Bouchon or Ad Hoc cookbook, baking sheets, silver clothespins from the French Laundry, olive oil, gluten free waffle mix, herb scissors, stemware, pepper mills and more. If you need a quick (expensive) hostess gift or amazing present for any food lover, I can assure you that anything you purchase here will be a home run. If you visit during the holiday season, you'll want to marvel at the store's inventive Christmas tree that's crafted out of French Laundry cookbooks!

********************* 1226 ********************** Love everything about this store, "It's all about FINESSE." As chef Thomas Keller always says and signs his cookbooks. The store is extremely organized. Every little thing is precise, orderly, and facing exactly the same direction. It has the blue signature color door as The French Laundry down the street and Per Se in NYC. It's meticulously beautiful and it makes me want to touch everything and disorganize it :-) From chef Thomas Keller cookbooks to hot sauce at Ad Hoc, from powder of Bouchon Bakery to the apron, from salt and pepper shakers to Equator coffee, you will find it here. I came here to get the French Laundry cookbook to sign be chef Thomas Keller last Friday DEC 13th, 2014 from 3:30-5:30 PM. I drove 2 hours in the rain from that "storm of the decade" #Stormagadon, to be there at noon. Yup, 3.5 hours before the signing because I want to be the first 1 in line. Haha! Laura, the wonderful salesperson at the Finesse The Store told me that I was too early, no kidding. So I went to lunch and brought some pastries to go for my parents and nieces, as well as a cup of coffee at Bouchon Bakery. I came back to the store by 1:45 PM, no one there but me in line. I got to chat with a few folks just finished their lunch at the French Laundry, it was fun we got to share our experience. Then I decided to sit on the floor, while sipping my coffee and look through the cookbook. Then the door opened. It was chef Keller asked if I was alright. I was so embarrassed to be seen on the floor (ghetto me). Chef helped me to get up and asked what I was doing there. I said I came for the book signing. It was 2:05 PM by then. The book signing is at 3:30 PM. Chef asked where my books and then signed it right away. he didn't want me to wait till 3:30 PM. He signed my friends book too. I got to chat with chef for a bit about my experiences at The French Laundry when I came with a first date in July 2014 and it went down hill after that. Chef was genuinely listened to me. And the 2 books I asked chefs to sign for my friends, they both came to TFL with me in June and July 2014, I told chef. Then I reminded chef that I saw him at Vegas Uncork'd in May 2014. I'm sure he was overwhelmed with me stalking him and his restaurants ;-) I'm truly a fan, what can I say. He was so kind, genuine, gracious and warm, and this is the many times I have met chef Keller. Each time it gets better then the last. He took another picture with me, signed all my books. I'm so touched and humbled by the experience! It was truly 1 of the best day of my life. And I can't wait to come back to The French Laundry for 1 last time in DEC 2014 before they close down for 6 months renovation their kitchen. P.S. I also find out that you can buy the cookbooks here where chef Keller had already signed all the books. So check out the Finesse The Store in downtown Yountville, behind the Bouchon restaurant, whenever you visit Napa. Laura, thank you for talking to me during that time I was so early. I really appreciate it. Happy holidays to you and yours.

After exploring other affordable options, we almost didn't do new countertops at all; but at the last minute we found an inexpensive orphan quartzite slab that we loved at another shop. It was cheap not only because it was an orphan but also because it had some issues, including a giant fissure on the back, a deep vein on one side, and chipping along one edge. On top of that, it was on the smallish side. We took this problem to GBR. They arranged for the slab to be delivered to their shop and took very careful measurements of our kitchen. Then they did a wonderful job of talking us through all the challenges that this choice of slab brought with it -- but best of all, they suggested solutions and alternatives to make it possible to use it in our kitchen. GBR knocked it out of the park on the cutting and installation. The counters and island look perfect! They were even able to enlarge the top of the island a little from the size of the old one. We could not be happier with the results. They were a delight to work with and we will definitely work with them again if we do additional work to the house.

We are currently transitioning to the construction phase, and are excited to raise our family in such a thoughtfully designed space. Also, Geoff and team are true experts at navigating the San Francisco permitting process. They efficiently moved us through permitting, both reacting to feedback from the city and helping us manage our neighbors. Honestly, we could not have permitted the house without their guidance. In a city where building homes can be difficult, the one two punch of beautiful design + the knowledge and skill to get it across the line was invaluable. We are so appreciative of Geoff and team.

When my old oven stopped heating, I decided it made more sense to replace it than repair it. While searching Craigslist, I found San Jose Appliance Store and an oven that seemed to fit my needs. I contacted the company, and Anthony responded promptly. We agreed on a price and arranged delivery. I noticed from the online photos that the oven needed a replacement handle, which I considered a minor issue. Unfortunately, I later discovered that the problems went far beyond cosmetic wear. The oven was delivered quickly, which I appreciated, and my old oven was hauled away--for an additional fee. However, after installation, the front burner would not ignite properly. When it did eventually light, it often released gas into the kitchen first, creating a strong odor and what I believe was a potentially dangerous safety hazard. To their credit, the company did send someone out to inspect the stove. The repair technician, whom I believe was Anthony's father, was courteous and even waited 15 minutes while I picked up my son from school. Unfortunately, the repair itself was unsuccessful. During the service visit, brake cleaner was sprayed inside my kitchen while the technician was attempting to repair the burner. Brake cleaner is an industrial product intended for use in well-ventilated areas, and the odor lingered throughout the house. Both my wife and son complained about the fumes, and my 9-year-old later developed a headache. Whether related or not, the situation was concerning and certainly not something I expected during an appliance repair. A day or two later, I followed up with Anthony regarding the status of the repair. He assured me the matter was being handled. Then, at approximately 6:30 pm one evening, I received an unexpected knock at my door. Anthony's father had arrived unannounced with a replacement part. Unfortunately, it turned out to be the wrong part. At that point, I decided to investigate the issue myself. After spending considerable time with GE's parts department, I learned that the serial number listed in the sales advertisement was incorrect. Once the correct information was identified, I discovered the stove was also missing two shelves and required a replacement handle. I ultimately spent approximately $70 on a new handle and another $80 on replacement racks. However, I was unwilling to spend an additional $210 on a burner assembly after already investing approximately $1,000 in the appliance. Unfortunately, I cannot provide an itemized breakdown of the charges because the company mistakenly provided me with another customer's invoice instead of my own. When I raised these concerns with Anthony, his attitude changed noticeably. He stated that I had purchased the stove "as is," even though it came with a 30-day warranty. He further suggested that the missing racks and defective burner were merely cosmetic issues and accused me of "trying to demand money" from him. At one point, I was told, "You can tell your wife to buy a new handle." To be clear, I have never demanded money. My only request has been simple: provide an oven that works safely and as represented. I even suggested that the company purchase the correct replacement parts from GE and have them shipped directly to me. That request was ignored. Anthony later mentioned the possibility of a trade-in arrangement to resolve the issue. However, after briefly raising that possibility, I received multiple messages indicating that no exchange would take place. Nothing further was done to address the problem other than providing me with his father's phone number for yet another repair attempt. By that stage, my confidence in the repair process was gone. Adding to my frustration, I later visited the company's website and discovered that the oven I had paid to have hauled away was being advertised for sale for approximately $500. In other words, I paid the company to remove my appliance, only to find it listed for resale. At this point, I have decided to purchase the necessary burner myself and hire a qualified appliance technician to properly inspect and repair the stove. This has been an expensive lesson. I hope sharing my experience helps other consumers make a more informed decision. I was not looking for a discount, a refund, or special treatment. I simply wanted an oven that worked safely and a company that stood behind its warranty.

But even the dirty dishes and food my child had accumulated in her room was left in a pile on a chair in there. Window linings and exterior windows still are caked in dust, bugs, dirt ! That's the one thing I needed real help on, the one thing I specifically requested multiple times , in very clear details, to be done! And despite me specifically asking for detailed window cleaning included in the price of the clean... & being promised such. This time, the company told me they had never been asked for a COI by a client before, and shortly after, they cancelled my appointment, saying they felt I was "setting them up." I was surprised by this reaction, as reputable service providers typically have liability insurance and can provide proof without issue. Because they refused to provide a COI and cancelled my booking, I cannot speak to the quality of their current work. However, I would caution other homeowners that if you want to ensure a vendor is insured, this may not be the right company for you.
