It's fantastic to see a great new restaurant in the foot hills. I was really hoping I would not see the same bar and grill food, you know potato skins mozzarella sticks and the like. The menu is amazing! I had the oysters encinada which has chorizo, caramelized onions and some sort of creme fresche? Any way what a great appetizer, not fried. The cevice was also top notch fresh seafood, very refreshing and the portion size was enough to share with 4 people. The pongas are hearts of romaine hollowed out on fill with fresh grilled carne asada or salmon, or Alaskan cod. They serve them with charro beans or vegetarian black beans. The tap selection was great except for the bud and bud light taking up valuable handle space. The atmosphere was bright and clean with great views on the Catalina mountains, I love the flip flop door handles.A beach bar in the desert, who knew. Service was attentive and unpretentious. Can't say that I was impressed. We found the food a failed attempt to take Southwest Mexican food and give it a Caribbean twist -- kinda like the strange wall decoration that takes a bull fighter and mingles him (her?) with a swordfish! Staff was nice enough but bar was messy and disorganized. Disappointed. read more

This place rocks! Excellent food (we tried the tacos, wings and a burger - all fresh and tasty), excellent service (the bartender Michael was a hoot!) and a great atmosphere! I love the view of the catalina Mountains and Finger Rock from their patio! I could live here! Will try more menu items next time and let you know what we think. Slow service, inexpensive. Ordered several different tacos. Tacos were cold when delivered. Great location as a neighborhood bar/restaurant. Managers need to pay more attention to quality control and server training. read more

First time here. Boyfriend and I went on Taco Tuesday and we got the shrimp tacos, and they were awesome. Food came out fast. Emilio, our server, was a little lacking. He took a while to get our drink order, water delivered, and our order taken. Had two different servers ask if we were helped already. He also didn't let us know the shrimp tacos were not $2.50. I am a server myself, and I was not satisfied. A+ on the food though. read more

We went to enjoy the music of Andy Hersey and have a burger and beer. One burger and four drafts, $36.08, WHAT! They believe that their draft beer is better than everyone else's and is worth $4.25 a pint, if they are really using 16 oz. glasses., for what they pay maybe $.75 cents for. We have been to Fini's on quite a few different occasions. First the good: Their beer is nice and cold, their staff is very nice and helpful, and they have a great atmosphere. Now the bad: I have NEVER had a decent meal there. I've had their fish tacos, (cold and tough) their kalua pork (under seasoned and tough) and last night we had their corned beef and cabbage dinner for St. Patrick's Day. The potatoes weren't done (they were crunchy!) the cabbage was not hardly cooked at all (I think they just cut it and slapped it on the place, then poured some au jus over it) and the corned beef was tough as shoe leather. How does someone even make tough corned beef? It's pre-tenderized! Really, the chef should get out of the food business completely. It's a fun place for happy hour or some great live music, but if you're looking for a gastronomical delight, you'd be better off across the street at McDonalds! read more

Tried out Fini's Landing for the first time this past weekend. In it's favor, it was cute little place with a fun atmosphere and very pleasant and helpful waitress. As to the food, my husband ordered a couple of seafood tacos, one a ceviche of sorts. Everything was ala cart. The tacos were simply flat corn tortillas with a pretty meager amount of filling plopped on top. The ceviche was nowhere close to what we expect ceviche to be. I ordered two cod "pangos" and a cup of tortilla soup. My order was a lot more substantial than my husband's. My order consisted of a chunk of romaine lightly grilled with cod chunks and a few vegetables on top. It came with a sauce, which was delivered, as ordered, on the side. The pangos were pretty decent, and the cod was pretty tasty. The tortilla soup (my favorite) was close to awful---almost too salty to eat, with a good amount of chicken in it. The chicken had an odd taste, like it was pre-cooked much earlier and lying around. My digestion was not normal yesterday---just saying. All things considered, I will not return. read more

Fini's is a fun bar in Tucson and very unique. The reason I say that is because it is a beach themed bar who thrives on flaunting their relaxed environment and signature flip-flops all over the bar in the foothills of Tucson. They have a great patio and a nice, big bar. From the patio you can enjoy a beautiful view of the foothills mountains. This place is perfect to sit outside in the Arizona sunshine and soak up the sun and beautiful views with a nice cold beer in your hand. I have had their cheesy fries before and they are delicious, they have a good drink selection. I came for breakfast for the first time recently and was impressed, they have a large menu with lots of unique options on their breakfast menu. I had the breakfast nachos and was stuffed with plenty of leftover afterwards, my boyfriend had the breakfast flatbread and loved it. My boyfriend and Dad had their bloody mary and said they do not recommend it, it was a little bit of an overkill of spices and gross they said. Also-this place is Dog Friendly! read more

Ok let me start off by saying I have ordered lunch take out from here at least 5 times now. I was referred to this establishment by a co-worker that raved about it. I have to say the first and second time I ordered it was fabulous. The next time, the order was completely wrong and had to go back to have them correct it, both sandwiches were wrong. I understand that happens sometimes. The fourth time 3 of us ordered and there was no avocado in the soup as described on the menu, avocado makes the chicken tortilla soup, as for the 2 chicken Caribe sandwiches, the Jamaican jerk sauce that is awesome must of been left off because there was no kick to this sandwich at all. Not just that but one sandwich had a nice piece of chicken (what I have normally come to expect) on it that is the proper proportion to the roll it comes on. As for the second one the chicken was only half the size, it was totally drowning in the roll. Not happy so I had not returned there until today. Today, again the chicken was too too small for the roll, barely any sauce and no ranch with my onion rings like I asked. I checked the food before I left and asked about what the normal size of the chicken should be and was told it should be 8 oz, which I though great. I weighed it when I got back and found it to only be 3 oz. I will not be returning. The service was friendly but did not seem to be sincere. It is really to bad because there is not another place like it that I know of and I would probably order lunch there once a week for me and my co-works. The owner really needs to realize the business he is missing. I would of asked to speak to the owner/manager but who knows who they would actually send out to speak with me. Oh well. read more

I wish Fini's was better because it's super close to my house and it would be nice to have a restaurant close by with good food and drinks. Unfortunately Fini's misses the mark on most things. I've been here about 5-6 times since they opened, twice in the last few weeks. Here's my overall impression: Drinks are expensive (and inconsistent-- a few weeks ago I had sangria and it was good and strong, ordered it again over the weekend and it tasted watered down), food is overpriced for what you get and the quality is lousy, service is poor (some of the waitresses have zero personality, don't come back to check on you, and our server this past weekend was more interested in checking out the game than attending to his tables). A few more notes on food-- taco Tuesday might be a good deal, but otherwise the tacos are just not that great and expensive for the portion size. Salads are definitely overpriced, a large is hardly large at all, and while the ensalada picada was fine, it was nothing special, and they forgot the crunchy chips on top. My mom recently ordered the Tinga flat bread, and it was cut into two giant pieces, which was super weird (if you order flat breads a lot, you know they are usually cut into thin slices), and it was majorly lacking on the toppings, it had maybe two little pieces of chicken. A side of fries is $4 for a dinky portion and again, they were not terrible, but not great. Just because this is the foothills doesn't mean you should overcharge for mediocre food. The chips and salsa & guac are good, but a bit pricy for what you're getting. Atmosphere-- it is very loud inside, and fairly loud outside on the covered porch too with the tvs on. Live music on Saturday nights means you can't hear anything. This is not the kind of place you'd want to go to dinner with someone you actually want to talk to. So overall my recommendation is come here if you want someplace to watch the game and don't mind overpaying for beer and mediocre food. Otherwise head down the road to La Encantada where you'll pay just as much but your food will probably be better. read more
