Came here for a family dinner with 8 people. Service was stellar, the ambiance was nice but not too fancy (a little loud), and the food was good. Went here last night. 1. We had to call someone over to wait on us after a while 2. We got offer no water at all so I had to ask mid meal 3. My food was cold and my husbands noodles were way over cooked we had to send it back 4. Friends and I came here right before the early dinner rush without a reservation and got seated immediately. When we went in there were mostly empty tables and by the time we left it was full and people waiting in the waiting area and outside and parking lot full with people waiting for parking spots. Definitely a family friendly restaurant. Every table around us was filled with a group of 5+ family members. It's my first time here and the atmosphere of the place reminded me of the one and only Olive Garden I went to in Florida years ago. Our waitress was very friendly and was helping with picking between choices each of us had in mind to order. We started with a Calamari Fritti which was good, serving size was a little smaller than other Italian restaurants we've been to in the North End and elsewhere. And we were also served garlic bread - this was delicious. It was like a cheesy flat bread. I was deciding between the bolognese and the short rib and our waitress recommended the short rib with excitement - you that it's that good. SO I had the short rib dish which was delicious. You roughly get 2 6oz pieces of boneless short rib cooked to perfection with stewed veggies, mashed potato and grilled veggies. The beef was so tender and soft and the mashed potato was excellent. The only thing about the dish was the sauce, it didn't quite hit the spot for me. I give the dish a 5/5 regardless. One of my friends had the bolognese, and she said she wasn't very impressed. She said it was more like tomato sauce, meat and pasta. There wasn't much flavour to it. My other friend ordered the chicken and sausage penne pasta in a heavy cream sauce. He said it was good but nothing exciting as well. I ordered a tiramisu to go and it was ok too. I'm very particular about my tiramisu and I've been on a search for the best tiramisu in Boston and I just haven't found it yet. Ambience 5/5 Food - my short rib get 5/5... but for the overall meals I have to give 3.5/5 since my friends didn't enjoy their meals as much. This was my first visit to the restaurant in Newton. The staff at the front desk, the valet are very rude. I even wonder if it was only towards us, 4 Indian origin Americans or others as well! We did not let this bother us because we were there to celebrate each other on Women's day. My boyfriend and I overhead an older woman apologizing to the hostess for spilling a container of left overs on the floor. She followed the apology with a sigh - "that was suppose to be my dinner for tomorrow night". As a healthcare who specializes in gerontology, my heart melted. We got takeout from here for my dad's birthday, and it was top-notch! We ordered arancini, calamari, and fried ravioli for appetizers. Entrees included linguini with meatballs, beef ragu, haddock piccata, and shrimp scampi. Finally, we ended with cannoli, flourless chocolate cake, and most importantly, peanut butter pie. The bill was around $200 for all of that. The food was ready quickly, and I couldn't believe how good it all was even though it was takeout. The peanut butter pie was the star of the show. I had to stop myself from licking my plate. If I had to give constructive criticism, I'd ask that they step up their bread game. It wasn't bad (in fact, it was good, lol), but compared to the rest of the food, it was somewhat simple. Bottom line - the food is absolutely delicious! Went here for our anniversary and the food was absolutely delicious and highly recommend asking to look at the pizza menu as that was my all time favorite thing I tried. I've been to this Italian restaurant a couple of times and it never disappoints. I introduced some of my friends to this place this weekend and we ordered three dishes to share: scallops lemoncello, seafood fresco, and the mushroom & prosciutto flatbread. The scallops lemoncello is one of my favorite dishes. It came with five large pan seared scallops with capers, diced tomatoes, leeks, and asparagus in a lemoncello sauce over risotto. The scallops were succulent and fresh. It was absolutely delicious! I could eat this every day! The seafood fresco came with pan seared scallops, shrimp, prosciutto, and asparagus in cream sauce over fettucine. It was very creamy and yummy! The mushroom & prosciutto flatbread was also great. There were 8 pieces of flatbread with mushroom, prosciutto and fontina cheese and drizzled with truffle oil. The waitstaff was very friendly and nice. I have not been to Fiorella's for several years, but in the past we used to go every weekend after the theater. Food is excellent and the staff friendly. A great neighborhood Italian place to check out in Newton! We ordered takeout on the weekend and got Fusilli w/ meat sauce, peppers (+$1), & mushrooms (+$2) Chicken parm w/ broccoli (+$2) & mushrooms (+$2) Fried calamari, Garlic bread, and peanut butter pie. The extra add-ons were a great addition to the pasta since there were lots of mushrooms, peppers, and broccoli stuffed into our takeout containers. The chicken parm was a huge cutlet and I was very thankful the chicken wasn't overcooked or dry! The portions of pasta are quite big, so you could share it or have 2 meals unless you're feeling ravenous. The fried calamari was alright, but nothing special. The garlic bread was cheesy, chewy, and soft, but there were also a few pieces of regular toasted bread that were crispy. I wished I read the reviews telling me that the peanut butter pie is ice cream...so I wish the only thing missing from their menu is descriptions of what each item entails. We also ordered a large dough ball that we used to make our own pizza with the marina sauce from the bread and calamari along with some of our own toppings. Ordered takeaway from here for the first time during Covid-19. Ordered their bell peppers parmigiana appetizer, chicken baked gnocchi, and scallops lemoncello. Total came out to $59, but had an Ubereats credit of $20, which brought the total to around $39. What's hot - Quality. Pretty delish. My scallops lemoncello had a lemon sweetness in the risotto. What I liked is that the risotto wasn't too sweet and overpowering, especially since this is an entree and not a dessert. The stuffed peppers pargigiana was also delicious and had a very slight spicy kick, which added to the flavor. Husband enjoyed his chicken gnocchi, which was tender and yummy. - Service. Our takeaway order was ready within the time originally given to us after we made our order. Our food was ready in a table inside, by the front door, at the appropriate time. Each dish was in its own plastic container, inside a paper bag, which was stapled closed. There was one piece of bread wrapped in wax paper in the bag, as well. It would have been nice to have been given more than one slice of bread, but oh well. The takeaway bag was properly labeled with my name and the order. When we opened the paper bag to check the food matched our order, their hostess walked over and explained this was a takeaway order for a customer. It's nice to see they are ensuring customers are getting the food they ordered. - Technology. You can order through UberEats and on their website, which is helpful, especially during this time of the pandemic. I was able to pay for the food before picking it up, which made it less of a hassle. It's nice to see this restaurant being active in using technology. - Safety and hygiene. Didn't really get the chance to see if everyone inside the restaurant is following health and safety protocols during this time of Covid-19. However, the hostess was wearing a mask. Additionally, they have a small table by the front door for takeaway orders and for customers to pick them up. What's not - Price. My scallops lemoncello is $27, which is kinda pricy. There were only 5 scallops in the dish. It was yummy, but small portions and kind of pricy. My point is to be prepared to pay higher prices for some of the dishes, especially the seafood. Although the food is good, it doesn't seem to be knock-your-socks-off good to be a good enough tradeoff for the price, especially with the portions of the food. - Portions. The stuffed peppers parmigiana appetizer was only 2 pieces. The main entrees are small portions, as well. Not enough to get you full or even really satisfied. Hubby and I were not full and satisfied at the end of our meal. Final answer Pretty good and would be willing to come back, but will be mindful of what to order. read more

Such a cute little place with great service! They start you off with their complimentary signature garlic bread, which comes with warm marinara sauce. It was the perfect starter and made us feel like we were eating pizza. We ordered their calamari and fig and bacon flatbread for appetizers. Their calamari was SO tender and the breading was well seasoned-- a must get! The flatbread was well balanced, and the dough was soft and pillowy with the perfect amount of chewiness. For entrees, we ordered their chicken and broccoli alfredo and penne alla vodka. Both were great, and the chicken was very juicy. We ended our meal with the peanut butter ice cream pie, which looks deceivingly small in the picture so don't let that fool you. It's everything you expect and more with a crunchy Oreo crust. If you are looking for a decent Italian meal, you are on the wrong page. Everything tastes the same (like undercooked pasta with marinara). The Arancini is shoddy at best. The Gnocchi was undercooked with a slob of Costco cheese on top. The servers funnily behaved like entitled Italian mafioso doing you a favor by serving you. When asked for freshly grated parmesan cheese they put a dirty shaker on the table. The place is way overpriced for the quality of food and service. The calamari was one of the better ones I've had in a while. It was really tender, lightly fried and not greasy. However, I had heard rave reviews of the bolognese and was pretty disappointed (probably because I had such high hopes. It was just pretty okay. I got some pretty big chunks of carrots n veggies, in it instead just a nice cooked down sauce. So much so that the veggies overpowered the flavor of the meat. I ordered Chicken and Broccoli Alfredo the best part was the broccoli, the noodles were so overcooked, the texture was hard to eat but could have been ok if the Alfredo wasn't the most tasteless watery sauce I have ever had.
