    Veal Piccata

Da Vinci is such a great restaurant on Moody Street. We come here often and it always hits. Our favorite appetizers are the calamari and meatball. We used to love the Arancini but something changed about it and it doesn't hit the same. My favorite entree is the veal Marsala. It's always cooked perfectly tender and very flavorful. My boyfriend also loved the piccata, but he said the gnocchi could be a bit better. Overall, such a great neighborhood staple with fresh food and good service.

It's a cute place. Pretty informal and menu is reasonably priced with most of your standard Italian favorites. Staff was very pleasant and helpful. There is some Davinci parking in the back but if there's no spots available parking can be tricky. Overall it's worth checking out if you're in the area.

Stepped in for dinner either Sweet Basil across street or Da Vinci. Opted for Da Vinci. Ordered the short rib pasta dish on menu and excellent beef flavors . It was a good size portion with plenty of short rib tender meat . They did have nightly specials . They offered complimentary bread, olive oil, grated cheese. I honk bread could be improved to a better soft hot French bread or rolls type ... bread was 3 small slices, dry and no flavor I was looking for with my pasta . Creme brûlée was good but was ice cold like it was in frig and was torched brûléed topping done before going in frig... so no hot caramelized topping... but it was good size desert and was eaten promptly. It was noisy with few patrons as owner or chef was telling in Spanish across restaurant to his female friends at the bar. We will visit again as other dishes looked appealing . Service was prompt and hospitable.

I believe Da Vinci is a pretty recent Italian restaurant on Moody St., with a great menu that makes me want to return. I ordered the sausage orecchiette in a cream sauce which tasted wonderful. Their meatball appetizer was excellent too and bursting with flavor. We had to have the crème brûlée for dessert, also great with a nice texture. The service was very good, attentive and always nearby for anything you need. The ambiance was appealing, lots of dark wood and nice pictures and paintings on the walls. Very tasty cocktails too. For great Italian food in the area, Da Vinci is highly recommended!

Another five-star meal and experience... Hadn't eaten all day. Not good... We were heading to the Bentley University Men's basketball game vs. Assumption University to watch my sun play. Time was tight. We wanted to dine in, and we didn't want to miss tip off. Dilemma. Bulb light came on, bright idea, somewhat unorthodox: We called ahead to Da Vinci Ristorante after perusing the yelp app for eats. Spoke to Courtney, who was phone friendly, totally welcoming. We inquired about the possibility of placing our food orders over the phone but sitting down to eat. Courtney paused and happily took our orders, granted our wishes: Chicken Parmigiano and Lasagna. Delicious, problem solved! Excellent. When we arrived about nine minutes later, much to our delight, Courtney greeted us with her signature smile. She sat us where we wanted and served as our waitress. She's the best, totally spectacular... After nine more minutes of fresh water, Coca-Cola with lime for her, Canada Dry with lemon for me, and small talk with Courtney, dinner was served. Time to enjoy our meals. With zero exaggeration here: Courtney and her team were awesome. The food was so fantastic we ordered some for the family to go. Courtney's sincere service with her sincere smiles made us feel special, like honored guests. Life is about balance, so we gladly returned the warmth via our generosity and gratuity to her, the master chef, sous-chef, and runner. All smiles. Buon appetito! Thank you, Courtney. Please keep smiling because #YourSmileDrivesUs.

Meatballs appetizer - balanced and wonderful sauce. Delicious orechiette sausage broccoli dish that had a white wine sauce. Topped with shaved parmesan that melts into the sauce as you stir your pasta. The sausage was ground sausage and had nice flavour. I got the Apricot Martini which was refreshing and sweet. The service was very consistent, filling water all the time. A very nice server. I didn't get the image for the creme brulee but it was very tasty. My only complaint was that the creme brulee didn't have a consistent sugar topping that cracked upon dipping my spoon but it was wonderful. The ambiance was great but some of the tables feel too close to each other. I would recommend and definitely go back.

Enzina sits in a 19th century brick building that it shares with its sister bakery. It seats about 12 tables so reservations are highly recommended. We were greeted promptly by the manager who was genuinely friendly - warmth is not a trait shared by most Bostonians. We ordered a large sausage pizza. The crust is made fresh daily by Enzina's bakery while the sauce is made in-house. The sausage is the star here - made locally by a high street Italian butcher shop. The final product was a masterpiece of east coast pie - firm crust, properly sauced, and a compelling amount of the delicious Italian sausage. We alo ordered the Tagliatelle Bolognese which was some of the best we have ever enjoyed. The sauce is made from veal, pork, and beef and only served on the day it is made (leftovers is given to a local food bank.) The house-made pasta was perfectly al dente. We would rate this Bolognese in our all-time Top Ten, which is saying a lot. Typical trattoria ambiance, prompt service, and delicious fare! Enzina is a must visit.

Stazione Di Federal is located in downtown Waltham near the T stop. After a long day in Cambridge we were ready for sustenance but what we discovered at Stazione Di Federal was more than just a refueling stop. Housed in an old residence that has been exquisitely restored, Stazione Di Federal features beautiful interior work including crown molding throughout and stately plaster window casing that creates a warm, comfortable ambiance. It also has a magnificent hardwood floor that shines like a mirror. The high ceiling, brick walls, and nicely spaced tables gave it a Tuscan trattoria feel that complements the menu. We were greeted warmly by the owner, John Brackett, who showed us to our table in the main dining room. Our server, Patty, provided attentive and informative service throughout our two hour excursion. Stazione Di Federal is a scratch kitchen featuring fresh, locally-sourced ingredients and boasts an impressive curated wine list with superb selections from the many regions of Italy. We started with an extra dry Hendricks Gibson up (Finally! A Gibson!) and an Alto Adige Tramin Sauvignon Blanc. Italy's South Tyrol deserves more credit for its exceptional whites and the Tramin more than did justice to the grape. Our appetizer was beef carpaccio composed of paper-thin NY strip, shaved pecorino, arugla, capers, and EVOO. This was served with an exceptional focaccia which, together, was an outstanding way to start our meal. Their menu is broad and enticing; it was rather difficult to decide from so many great choices but we ordered the daily special - lemon risotto with scallops and, at Patty's recommendation, the orecchiette. The risotto was perfectly cheesy with citrus highlights decorated with five seared scallops that were charred on the outside and melt-in-your mouth tender inside. Of note were the peas that dotted to risotto! The orecchiette was al dente and featured a tremendous Italian sausage that had incredible anise notes. We finished with the baklava cheesecake that was topped with a pistachio walnut crumble, crispy phyllo, and a drizzle of warm honey. As always we each paired that with a double shot espresso with a twist. Stazione Di Federal is a tribute to east coast Italian done well. Impeccable service and a warm, inviting interior made this a memorable experience!

There's an old world feel when you walk in, and the decor is elegant without being stuffy. Although we sat at a table in the main dining room, the bar area was pretty sexy. Some of the price points are high to comparable Italian restaurants, but the quality is very much higher than most. Sarah was our server and she was delightful. No imbibing today, but she had the bar tender make me a fruity-ginger mocktail. Just ask, as the non-alcoholic selection amounts to two beers. Food is amazing. The clams casino and fritto misto apps were outstanding! The swordfish special ($49) was amazeballs. I don't even really like swordfish, but they managed to make it buttery soft and very lobsteresque in flavor. The baklava cheesecake is not to be missed--not overly sweet, and I'm on a mission to replicate it at home.

We were very surprised by the design when we walked in - the frontage is very unassuming. I have been to many areas of Italy - some casual and some very upscale. This restaurant is a little in between. But it's charming and beautiful. We sat at the counter bar and it was a really cool place to be. It's right in front of the kitchen but also very quiet and easy to have a conversation. It's clear that the family that owns the restaurant has spent a lot of time traveling through Italy, the menu is very reflective of many of the regions. The menu was beautiful and certainly has something for everyone. We split a couple entrees but started with the prosciutto which was fantastic - I'm a bit picky about this app because sometimes it's the standard presentation that to me is boring. This dish had a perfect combination of accompaniments - it was light and is a very good starter. For entrees we had the eggplant - the tomato ragu on it was super flavorful. We also ordered the Pork Tenderloin Milanese - this dish is no less than amazing!!!! Highly recommend. The wine we chose was Ceretto Barolo- a perfect match for the entrees. We finished with the desert special - an elegant warm pear tart ... yum ! The service was excellent- we were fortunate to get one of the family members who was charming and gave us a little bit of the family history and great explanations of the dishes before we ordered. This is an excellent restaurant and a fortunate gem we stumbled upon - it's a must if you're in the area!
