A very pleasant surprise! Very difficult to find sushi places that are not near the water with good quality sashimi. Usually it's just a roll party (rolls with tons of sauce so you can't even taste the fish). While this place does have a ton of rolls, we went for options we didn't see in previous yelp reviews. Did you know this place has blue fin toro?! It was fatty and delicious. Good quality at just 9 bucks for two pieces. This would be twice as much near a city like LA or SD. It does lack that dance on your tongue but the melty goodness is definitely there. Rice is sweeter than most sushi rice which made for great shrimp fried rice and hand rolls. The salmon skin and spicy albacore were the best choices for hand rolls. The spicy scallops and yellowtail hand rolls were on the spicy side but still good. Ebi shrimp and shrimp head were good. Overall good choice in the area and would come back any time we're here. Hard to give a five star rating just because of our refined sushi palate in larger cities like SF and LA. For the casual sushi lovers in this region this would be a five no doubt. Service was excellent and the sushi chef took our orders quickly and we barely waited for anything. Wow! We were in Temecula for my birthday weekend and because it was Friday in Lent, we opted for this restaurant. The service was personable and our server Katia was attentive. She greeted us with bowls of miso soup. I had read some reviews so chose the spicy garlic edamame. This starter was smoky and flavorful and the serving was ample for two. I have had spicy garlic edamame at other sushi restaurants but this dish was superior because of its smokiness. I chose the sashimi assortment. Sometimes when I order this at other sushi restaurants, the octopus is tough. But not this time. The octopus and all the selections chosen by the chef were tender and melted in my mouth. Not a bad place for sushi in the area, but certainly nowhere near the quality of ones in OC or LA. I make a point NOT to eat at any Asian restaurants when I'm in Temecula but I stopped by here for convenience since my wife and I went to see an herbal doctor at 88 Ranch Marketplace in the same shopping center. The chirashi bowl (lunch portion) actually wasn't too bad. The portion was kind of small but price was only about $13 so was a decent deal. Salmon was pretty good and rest of the sashimi in the bowl was ok. The udon, on the other hand, was quite disappointing. Noodle was too soft and broth was extremely bland. It tasted like they forgot to add the seasoning/base to the broth. We added the dipping sauce for shrimp tempura to the broth to make it edible. We weren't sure if that was suppose to be the broth base and we were suppose to add to the broth to our preference. It was just weird. OMMMMG! Wanted to try a new sushi spot with my babe, we were gonna doordash, but decided to come in and eat anyways! I love trying new sushi places! This was recommended place by many locals. This has become my new favorite sushi place in town. I stopped by last week & the waiter gave us a few recommendations which were on point. We ordered the refreshing roll, galaxy roll, and t the Japanese nachos. The refreshing roll has become one of my new favorite rolls and its name is fitting. The lemon and cilantro on there are good! The galaxy roll was a large portion size but very good. I'm super bummed because I used to love this place. I hadn't been in a couple of years. We walked in and placed a to-go order and we're very happy with the quick service. The young lady that helped us at the register was very kind and helpful. Our food was ready in less than 10 minutes, so that was a plus. I ordered the gyoza as an appetizer and that was okay. They were a little skinny and deep fried, not pan fried. Pan fried gyoza is way better tasting than deep fried. So that was a bit disappointing. A plus is that the serving size was 8 pieces. For my dinner, I got the Albacore Cilantro roll and the Refreshing roll, while my husband got the Crunchy Spicy Tuna roll and the In-n-Out roll. One thing I didn't appreciate is that the hot food was packed in the same bag as the uncooked, raw fish. Not just in the same bag, but also in the same container too. Having worked in the food industry, they really should look at packing cold food with cold food and warm food with warm food, especially when dealing with raw fish. So, while one roll was served hot, it was in the same container as a cold, raw roll. They did this twice! The picture will show the two hot rolls in foil served next to two cold, raw rolls. Why?!? And then, they placed the hot, deep fried gyoza on top of everything. Again, the hot food should have been in the same container and then placed with the gyoza in a separate bag, so the cold food remained together. Another disappointment was the spicy tuna (in both the Crunchy Spicy Tuna roll and the Albacore Cilantro roll, because it was beyond spicy. And look, I like spicy food and my husband LOVES spicy food, and this was even spicy for him! The guy that when it comes to spicy food says, "if it doesn't fight back, it's not spicy enough." HE said it was too spicy. So, while he enjoyed it a bit and was sweating while eating, it was unbearable and it took away from all the other flavors in the roll for me. I feel like whoever made this batch of spicy tuna went a little overboard on the spice. Lastly, the albacore on top of the roll was a bit dry and crusty along the edges, as if it wasn't as fresh as it should be. Needless to say, I didn't finish my food because it wasn't what I was expecting and it didn't "hit the spot." I did appreciate that all the sauces were packed on the side, so this helped them not get too soggy. That was a plus. Although I wasn't 100% satisfied, I would probably still try them again in the future, because of all the times I've dined here in the past, this is the first disappointment. So, aside from today, they do have a good track record with me. Just posting this so they may see it and fix the things they can like the packaging and the spiciness. read more

At the time of order they quoted us about 20-30 minutes. It was exactly 30 minutes when we received a call our order was ready. Nobody in my family had any negatives to say, each roll was stacked with fish. Usually I order 2 rolls to really get full, but one roll of 8 pieces was a great amount. What sushi restaurant runs out of rice? A loaded question, perhaps, but at 6pm, on a Saturday? A friend and I came here at 5:30 a little over a week ago and ordered plum wine as we waited for another friend to join. She arrived around 6, and right as we were about to order, a server different from our own came over to tell us, unapologetically, that they were out of rice, and that it would take *thirty* minutes to have more ready. The manager did not speak to anyone, and there were no apologies or discount offers. The server just pointed to the four sections of items that didn't contain rice, and said that we could just "order one of these, or wait." Okay, seeing as this is mainly a sushi restaurant, and the main appeal is that there are tens of sushi rolls offered here, we and every other table of customers were not buying into it. Although many other people left, I made my friends stay because A) we had had plum wine already and were in the mood for sushi with rice rolled into it, and B) I had been here about a month ago, and found it was one of the best sushi places in Temecula. We decided to order seaweed salad and tempura vegetables to hold us over. The seaweed salad was okay, but there were tempura jalapeños and broccoli? Does that sound right? In all the times I've ever ordered vegetable tempura, there have never been jalapeños or broccoli, but sure, let's go with that. To make it even worse, they forgot about our tempura until five minutes before the rice was ready, and when they finally put in our sushi orders, we were unhappy to find that each roll came out at a very different time.
