None of us even ate half as the meat was sooo unflavored and also very tough to chew. We were so disappointed. It wasn't exactly inexpensive either. I'd never go back or recommend this place. Came here for my friend's birthday party. I wasn't sure what to expect from this place it turned out pretty good. I got a plate with coconut rice, chicken, beef, veggies, and a side of pasta salad. The rice was very delicious. The meat was juicy and perfect small pieces. The pasta was very delicious as well. The only thing I did not like they fill your plate with a lot of rice and small portions of meat. ONE minus star for that. My daughter got a kids bowl with chicken. She loved the coconut rice. Her meal was free. It also came with a small drink. Employees were very friendly. They keep checking to see if we needed anything for our party. The place is small I was expecting a bigger establishment. Over all I give them 4 stars one minus for not enough meat. I would come back again next time for dinner. I like what they are doing here. Great concept and great people! The veggies could be better and their were huge portions of rice as we got the platters. I was hoping for the meat to stand out, but it was okay! We had chicken and steak with peanut sauce and spicy teriyaki. Since I eat a lot of island and Asian food- it was to be really awesome to get 4 stars. It has a great presentation and I hope they do more to build on it! After a long day of softball t was nice that the meal was ready to be plated and in your hands quickly. Kids eat free Saturday under 10 yo! That's a plus for us as we have a big family. Hawaiian bbq and grills have a soft spot in my heart so there is definitely a biased here. Even if there wasn't one, this place is a great place to stop for a quick bite to eat. I have only been here for lunch a couple of times but this seems like the time to go. This isn't the typical Hawaiian BBQ restaurant where there are a few choices of meats (Short Ribs, BBQ chicken, beef, etc) and 2 sides; it has way more to offer in menu options. It is by no means considered a health food store but the menus provides options for you to eat somewhat healthy. So far I have had the Volcano chicken salad and the charred steak bowl. Both of them delicious and allowing me to leave with a full stomach without feeling like I ate a pond of grease with my food. Every day they have a special for lunch which provides something at a descent price. All in all this is a great place to stop for lunch. Only suggestion is to get there right at or before 11 to beat the lunch crowd in the parking lot. read more

I ordered takeout. I went to pick it up and the bag was sealed . I asked her if it had the 5 meals (since it was only one bag and gestured to another bag it had been sitting next to ), and she corrected me and said it was actually 6 meals (she was correct ) and said yes they're all in this bag. She charged me and I left. I get home and it was only 3 of the 6 meals. I call and they say "oh yea it's still here, you can come pick it up" I said no because I just drove 20 min home and told her I was upset because I specifically asked the girl and she was snobby and told me yes they are and hurried me along. I then had to still make half of my family lunch at home. They had no desire to make anything right and acted like nothing happened. As I was eating the platter grilled chicken with noodles. I felt something hard almost like plastic it was the grilled chicken. I went through the entire plate and the attached photos were the pieces of chicken that were so hard that I couldn't even eat I wouldn't even give it to my dog. This place use to have quality now idk I'm all for giving places a second chance this was the 3rd time most likely won't be back there anytime soon. Need new cooks or new quality chicken. I went on a ride-along in Palmdale the other day and stopped for a quick dinner at Fire Island Grill with my new deputy sheriff friend. He suggested the place (and apparently eats here all the time), and I don't think I've ever said no to a rice bowl. It was a delicious end to a pretty fascinating day. (I won't Yelp the sheriff's station, as I barely spent any time there, so this rice bowl will do for my OCD Yelp diary purposes.) The place was empty near closing time on a Sunday, with plenty of tables to choose from. It was a casual spot, fast food Hawaiianish with the Chipotle-style customization model. Service was fast and friendly. I built my own rice bowl with white rice, chicken, steak, and Fire Island teriyaki sauce, and it came with a nice scoop of sautéed vegetables on top--broccoli, onions, zucchini, and bell peppers, I think. This really hit the spot, especially with some sriracha. I just love a spicy teriyaki rice bowl, and the meat, rice, and vegetables were all pretty decent. I appreciated that there was sriracha available in squeeze bottles with the caps removed, because fuck drizzling when you can just dump tablespoons of sriracha straight onto your dinner. I inhaled my rice bowl and would definitely come back if I needed a quick meal in Palmdale. (Fire Island, though pretty chain-like in set-up, is actually one of only two locations, as far as I can tell.) It's the kind of spot that I'd use to fuel up if I worked nearby--easy fast food that's as satisfying as it is functional. read more

Aloha! Fire Island Grill is one of the few things in the AV that makes me glad that I live here. This place is a great option for healthy(ish) food that's prepared before your very eyes. Sure, it can be a little pricey for lunch if you're not ordering off of their daily special menu, but the food taste and quality is worth every penny. My favorites include the steak sandwich (OMG, the cheese/teriyaki combo! DROOL!) and a steak bowl with noodles and Fire Island teriyaki sauce. As you can see, I like cow. The chicken is delicious as well, but I'm just a red meat kind of girl. As far as the service go, it can get a little 'tudey. Most of the time you've got staff who are nice enough. Sometimes though, you feel like you're inconveniencing them by ordering your food. Maybe a little staff meeting should be called to remind them that they are in the service industry. Be happy, or at least pretend to be, dammit! If you're in a time crunch and on a 30 minute break, you might be nervously watching your minutes tick away. The lunch line can get a little long and therefore you'll have to patiently wait your turn and then haul buns back to the office to eat at your desk. Still worth it, though. The guy that helped me, his name is Irving, was the sweetest and his customer service was off the chain :) !! I love Fire Island Grill. The lines are long during lunch time which should prove I'm not the only one who thinks so. I usually get a combo rice/noddle bowl with vegetables and chicken. I love the pineapple teriyaki sauce. The hubby gets a noddle bowl with chicken and the fire sauce. The portions are generous and the prices are decent. They also have daily specials. Customer service is decent enough but every now and then you encounter a great employee. The only problem I think is parking. Cool concept with the chipotle style bowls, and the food was fine. It was a good place to stop when on a road trip and avoiding fried/fast foods. My husband got the Hawaiian chicken sandwich and said that it was okay. I would probably say the same thing about the chicken bowl. This place was better then expected. Its like a Chipotle in that you create your dish. Only it uses Hawaiian inspired ingredients. It's either rice or noodles then a meat and/or vegetables. If not you can also get a sandwich, which is made to order. I decided to go with rice, chicken, beef, random veggies, and a peanut sauce. Sounds wierd but I totally enjoyed what I got. Came to around $8 with drink. Portion size is good enough to fill you up with just a bowl but I believe you can also get a platter if you want more. The establishment is well kept and is pretty chill inside. The customer service was pretty cool too. I told them it was my first time and they let me sample items I wasn't so sure of, like the sauces. Overall it was pretty good and decently priced, I will make a return in the future. read more

I shouldn't judge to badly since this was my first time. But I was not impressed with their bowls and how they portion feed. First, who's idea was it to dice up chicken. I could even grab it with my fork. Second, no flavor, if you didn't have any sauce, it would be bland. Third, veggies were also cut way small and same problem grabbing it. Oh and the macaroni salad wasn't good either, it just didn't compare to Hawaiian BBQ or Flame Broiler. If you spend money here then get what you pay for their prices are high and portions are small. I appreciate that this place is a healthier option in Palmdale...however there was a plastic sticker from the produce in my grilled veggies & the tofu was fried in the same batter as their fish...so not only is the tofu fried, it tastes like fish. This is not what a vegan or vegetarian is going for when ordering a veggie & tofu bowl. Thankfully they refunded my order without any complaints when I explained the issues. I was traveling in Palmdale today and wanted to try Fire Island Grill based on a Friends recommendation. I had the Chicken Bowl with Island Rice (cooked in coconut milk with spices & black beans). Stir fried veggies, and Fire Island sauce (Spicy) but not too spicy. So good and definitely a healthy option. It's actually real chicken not out of a bag and fresh vegetables!
