The service was slow but servers pleasant. The bathrooms were pretty sketchy, but they gave the kids a menu and crayons... This restaurant is located inside the Hoffstadt Bluffs visitor center located at milepost 27 on Spirit Lake Highway. This is a great restaurant, with great views of Mt. St. Helens and the river valley. The menu has an excellent variety of options. There were three of us dining for lunch Memorial Weekend and we were all very pleased with the quality of the food. They even have an espresso bar! And the best part, very reasonable prices! read more

We had the pleasure of attending a food review of Fire Mountain Grill today with a group from Ridgefield WA. The Grill had an issue with gas for the grill and handled it gracefully and provided snacks while we waited. Lunch was free so nobody was upset! The view was beautiful, and cozy couches to relax in. Once we were served we got a sample of the calamari (the BEST. I've had lots and this was melt in your mouth good), shrimp, chicken bites, and mozzarella sticks. Everything was perfectly cooked and excellent! We ordered the halibut sandwich and the buffalo burger. The buffalo comes pretty pink in the middle, so be sure to specify if you want it closer to medium well or well done. Both sandwiches were good. Fried and onion rings were good too! We got the lava cake and peanut butter pie for dessert. Lava would have been better with ice cream instead of the canned whipped cream. Peanut butter pie was excellent. Small but just right when you're already stuffed! We plan to come back for Mothers Day Brunch! read more

My family and I arrived at this place on a Saturday night at 5:30pm, and a staff ignored us and after we were waiting for 10 more minutes, she told us that they were closed, which obviously not! It's funny to know that there's a place looks nice outside but has people so rude inside. read more

Six of us descended upon the Fire Mountain Grill on Sunday. We sat on the outside deck... and WOW, what a view. We each ordered something different and waitress got every order perfect! I was here on the Saturday of Memorial Day weekend at about 3:30 pm. The place was packed. We waited about 15 minutes for a table and was seated on the back deck overlooking the river. Beautiful view. The service was very slow but they were working as hard as they could. All of the staff were extremely nice, even though you knew they were slammed. We all had burgers and I would say they were average. Very tasty but not exceptional. Good fries. All of this led up to the holy grail moment....the caramel apple cobbler with ice cream. There are no words. My husband had the berry cobbler and was also speechless. This alone was worth the stop. Con: those little picnic tables on the deck are very uncomfortable. I do a lot of yelp reviews and this is my first negative one. Fire Mountain Grill is a nice looking place with a decent view and the staff is nice. That is all I can say that is positive. We ordered the BBQ chicken salad with no olives. We sent it back with the olives. We ordered the bacon cheeseburger with no sauce and sent it back because it had no bacon and was covered with a house sauce. The burger next burger arrived cold. We ordered another cheese burger with fries. This time, all we got was just the fries. The cheese burger finally came later after we asked a few times and was dripping with house sauce which was not very good. Our waitress was very nice. But, the service was terrible. Our drink glasses remained empty during most of our visit even after several requests. When we finally got the check, it included an additional five dollars for an extra basket of fries that we never ordered. She promptly fixed the check and we left. After a couple hours, a few people in our party had very upset stomachs. I would say for the price, you are better off going elsewhere.... read more

I'd give negative stars if I could. I planned to bring my boyfriend there for a special occassion. I even called and talked to the owner a week before going. He assured me they'd be open, so I planned a day trip around a visit there. When we arrived he opened the door and said he couldn't have us as customers because a bus arrived. I mentioned that he has assured me he would be able to dine there over the phone, and he didn't care. The owner completely lacks integrity and clearly cares about profit over customers. They have a vegan veggie burger on the menu, and they get points for it being house made, which was so cool for us hungry hiking vegans! Not the most flavorful veggie burger I've ever had but not bad and still satisfying! The fries were ok, the ketchup was Heinz or something equally unappealing. Ate here after a long ride up to Mt. St. Helen's and on the way back stopped in. I had the Elk burger with Swiss cheese and fries, along with a drink I wish I could remember the name of. It was some sort of mudslide I think, it had Baily's, Kahlua, vodka and chocolate in it, it was delicious as was the burger, tender, juicy, and tasty! Came here for lunch on our way back from sightseeing @ Mt. St. Helens nat'l monument. We had a fantastic experience. Dined outdoor under the patio on a drizzly day but enjoyed the beautiful view and sounds of the river flowing through the rocks below anyway. Our server Kristina was friendly, and helpful with the menu and wine selection. I enjoyed a crisp Riesling with a smoked salmon salad, my hubby attempted the Bigfoot Burger challenge. I would give it 2, but since we are locals here in Castle Rock.......Anyways, the neighbors and my husband and I decided to see what it's all about. Let me first give you the two positives. The view is beautiful, especially if you sit outside and are visiting the area. Second, the staff was very nice and welcoming during our dinner. Now the negatives. The prices are ridiculous. Plan on spending 15-16 dollars on a sandwich or burger and fries. Sandwiches come with mediocre chips, or add 2.50 for fries. I had the chicken sandwich, it was horrible. Over cooked and tasted weird ( I usually never complain about my food, especially local ) she came back and said it was cooked at the perfect temp. Then I showed her a large brown area in the middle of the chicken. She took it back in a napkin, cane back and said she could take 35% of my meal, but said since we are locals we also get 10% off. Gee thanks. I wanted to try the cobbler but it was 9 dollars! You are better off getting a Burger King meal and going to the park to enjoy a river view! Sadly we won't be back or recommend to anyone. read more

We were greeted warmly, telling us all kinds of things about the surrounding area. They have inside seating as well as beautiful outside seating. It appears almost all the food is made from scratch and on the premises. Absolutely delicious. Both of us had an elk burger with caramelized onions. I enjoyed (and shared a few) beer batter fries while my sensible husband had a side salad with homemade Ranch dressing that was very good. And he had a lemonade with huckleberry and it was excellent as well. Both of us would recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner. If I had a negative on anything, it was the day we were there they mixed up drink and meal orders with people. But, it all worked out and people do have off days. After hiking Mt. St. Helens, my friends and I were so hungry we couldn't see straight. We stopped at Fire Mountain Grill and we all ordered the western burger. When our food arrived, we almost couldn't breath it looked so good. We were not disappointed. I'm pretty sure it was the best burger I have ever had... and fries that spoiled me for life. I would give them a 0 star rating if that was possible and I never even tried their food. We waited over an hour and were told more than once our food was almost ready, but when I noticed people seated after we ordered getting their food I asked where ours was and was told that it should be ready right now and that she was going to get it for us. She then returned 5+ minutes later to tell us that our order had been lost by their computer because it crashed. However when we ordered she told us the computer was down and she was having to handwrite our order. I am still trying to figure out how a computer can loose an order that was never entered into it. She wanted us to reorder and offered to comp 1 meal for the wait. We decided not to waste anymore time with a brainless twit. read more

Well if you thought it was expensive when this restaurant was Pattys Place at 19 mile, it wasn't!! They closed their restaurant and Hoffstadts Bluff and obtained Pattys. The prices are painful. Patience will be needed for the poor service. read more

We stopped even though we weren't really hungry. We wanted to get food to go because we had a small dog with us. They told us that the dog was welcome on the deck. I had the fish and chips. She had Caesar salad. I expected the fish to be frozen, and it probably was, but it tasted very good. The tartar sauce was very good. The fries were excellent. Then we had dessert. We each ordered a mixed berry cobbler. Delicious. We had shared a similar dessert at McMenamin's in Kalama the evening before. McMenamin's had been good. This was outstanding. We would certainly go there again, except it is a long way from home, and I doubt we will go to Mt St Helens again this year. read more

Horrible service. We dined there in the evening of 7/6/17. We watched the party next to us get their drinks, salads, and meals before we even got a refill of our drinks. After 45 minutes our food arrived (3 out of 4 meals were wrong), and we never got the appetizer we ordered. When this was brought to the attention of our server, he said "well I don't know what happened". He didn't try to make it better, and acted like we were being an inconvenience to him. My salad was the only order he got right and it tasted ok, but the burgers my husband and son ordered were the same size as the burger my 9 yr old ordered from the kids menu. Four of us stopped here for lunch after a morning at Mt. Saint Helens. Great location over looking the river where a family was swimming and a hillside where logging was taking place. Homemade Kettle chips were stale which was a bit disappointing, but the chili and hamburger were announced as delicious. My BBQ pork was good, but not warm and the Chicken and Dumpling soup was more paste than soup. We stopped by Fire Mountain Grill after a long day visiting the various Mt. St. Helens visitors centers and found a winner! The weather was perfect to enjoy the spacious outdoor patio with its lovely view of the river below. The menu was big and varied, with salads, sandwiches, burgers and more. The various flavors of lemonade (kiwi and raspberry were options) were a big hit with the younger members of our crew, and the beer, wine and cocktail options kept the more senior members happy. The kids menu had nice options for all within our party. Definitely leave room for dessert, as the molten chocolate cake (actually appropriate on the flanks of a volcano) was very rich, decadent and delicious, and the cobblers (peach/blueberry and mountain berry) were beyond terrific. Stopped today looking forward to the cobbler advertised after a great family day visiting Mt. St. Helens. Dismayed, discouraged and even disgusted. On arrival we were told to take any table. Can't say much about the service or food because there was none. We were pointedly ignored and the two visible staff turned away as we got up to leave. We are a respectable looking family arriving in a recently new Jeep. But as my daughter told my 7 yr old adopted grandson of color as we left that since she didn't look like a frou-frou woman which some people didn't like that andsome didn't feel good with people that didn't look like them with the same color of skin and that these people were sometimes rude. She thanked him for not making a fuss about leaving even though it was after 2 pm and we were all famished after an adventure day. For shame! When you obtained a business license to run a public eatery public you agreed to serve the public. read more
