As we stood in line waiting for a table, the waiter wiped down a table that just had folks dining at it. There appeared to be no disinfectant used and there was still food remnants on the table and on one of the chairs (thanks to the waiter.) He told us to have a seat, which we did, but I could not stomach leftover food still on the table and chair. We left without ordering. I thought there was strict guidelines about cleaning these days and keeping people safe. The ground around the tables was dirty also and the lady putting flowers in vases did not have a mask on. We went last night for my friends birthday. Obviously we knew there was a wait due to covid. We waited over an hour to be seated. As we were waiting we watched the hostess seat people who were not even on the list be seated before us. She tried to give a lame excuse as to why they were be seated before us. We became upset and then they didn't want to seat us at all. The hostess proceed to seat a table of 2 before us when we finally said something to her in front of the other couple they were completely understanding to our frustration and let us take the table the sat up to six. Our waiter was great on the other hand he gave us great service. So maybe they just need to train the young lady more or figure out a different way to keep order for seating people. There needs to be better organization and this from a person who's waited for many years. Food was ok we did it we tried we most likely won't be back. read more

If I could more stars I would! This place is BOMB! The drinks, freaking delish. I suggest The Fresita Margarita, it was on point and I don't really dig Tequila but wanted something new and I did not regret it. Two of those bad girls and I was feeling good, lol! The food was so good too! The fish in my tacos were big, crispy yet juicy with the right amount of cabbage, BOMB! The service was fast and friendly. We came here last night during Mission Inns very busy Festival of Lights Christmas. From the moment we walked up to be greeted by the Hostess at Fire Up Bar and Grill, we felt welcomed. The hostess had a wonderful smile, was kind and accommodating to our lil family. We are Big Foodies and loved everything we had from the chips to the ceviches and our yummy tacos. This is not your ordinary Mexican Restaurant. It's authentic, and worth the trip downtown. The Margaritas where amazing!! It's our new favorite Mexican Food spot. So, we came here two weeks ago for dinner. Our server that night, Jordan, was really great! Attentive, happy, friendly, he took care of us as if we were his only table! Also that night, Martin was there to assist Jordan whenever he was occupied, again, not just are table but around the whole establishment! So two weeks later, we come to the brunch, mainly because Jordan recommended it so highly and we thought so highly of Jordan and the service he and Martin provided. I can say, that we were disappointed! Kelly, who was stepping in to "take care" of us failed miserably! She looks like she hated being here! First, in this environment she should feel blessed to have a job! Second, this is the service business! If you do not love serving other people and show that with your performance, you should go on the SEE program! Seek Employment Elsewhere! Some people do not have the temperament for the job! Kelly should count her blessings! The only thing that saved our brunch visit today were Alexis and Martin! They were very apologetic and really did all they could for our bad experience with Kelly. I was over charged almost $300 for our tab and they charged us for things we didn't even order! Called the owner to resolve the problem and it was the worst experience! Over the weekend we hosted the Riverside Dickens Festival. Part of our event was placed in front of this restaurant. The music was playing so loud that the vendors could not converse with their customers, and the authors could not be heard. When asked to turn the music down,they turned the volume up instead. I refuse to patronize an establishment which shows such a blatant disrespect for an event that so many of us work so hard to present. read more

She always is on top of her game never slacking seems like an incredibly hard worker. The recommendation that she makes for our food and drinks are always superb in every way! Have lived in Riverside for about 15 years now. Have been around the riverside night life scene for a good amount of time. This establishment has the best staff and menu combination. Authentic Mexican food with a modern take and unique take on margaritas and they have big ass beers. It makes a night out at the Fire up Bar and Grill a 5 star experience. Where do I begin?!? The service is extremely horrible, my friends & I went last Sunday for brunch, first they took FOREVER to bring our food, our server would hardly ever come to our table we had to look for other servers to get what we wanted/needed. Mimosas were $25 an hour but we were charged a second hour without being told. After a while of being there we were told we had to leave bc "we drank too much", which makes no sense, bc of customers like us they're the reason why they were making money. To top it of ONE OF THE SERVERS STOLE MY FRIENDS WALLET!! We asked to speak to a manager we were ignored first of all second we asked to speak to someone higher up they said there's no one higher up. It's so sad that we went to a restaurant that steals from people my friend had very important stuff in there. Don't ever come to this restaurant! I hope nobody ever experience what we did. They also deleted my friends review from Yelp, they probably don't want anyone knowing they stole her wallet. read more

I've been watching the work being done on this place for a while now and I'm glad it's finally open. The service is great. I was able to get a seat at the bar. The bartender made sure I didn't go thirsty and made sure I always had a drink. The servers were quick to take my order and were knowledgeable of the menu items. The food was delicious. I had the birria and pastor burritos. Some of the best birria I've had in the area. Same can be said about the pastor. Can't wait to come back and try out some of the other items. read more

Drinks are great HOWEVER from the beginning the hostess not so great. I approached them and they did not greet or say hello while they were just staring at me, until I said hello she asked for how many people. After waiting for 40 minutes I asked my friend to double check if they got my name down correctly because we noticed they were seating people who got there after us. He asked the hostess if my name was on there and with attitude she answers "I said Jess for 3 people". My friends and I are very patient and understanding people so we brushed it off. Another 40 minutes pass we are the only ones left along with another group (keep in mind we are standing in the hostess direction). She notices us and approaches us to ask "what's the name again". We say the name, she questions the name, and looks confused. She goes back to check the lists and right away goes to seat us. Treating your customers that way ruins the whole experience from the get go. Apparently you have to know employees there to get treated with great customer service. read more
