My favorites were the Signature Lan Noodle, the spicy beef noodle, and the wide flat noodle soup. The Signature Lan Noodle had a rich, flavorful broth with tender beef and perfectly chewy noodles. The spicy beef noodle had just the right amount of heat and was packed with flavor without being overwhelming. The wide flat noodles were incredibly fresh, soft, and chewy--they soaked up the broth beautifully and had an amazing texture. You can really tell the noodles are made fresh to order. I ordered the Big Plate Chicken, and overall, it was very flavorful. The noodles were especially good, but there's one important warning: CHEW CAREFULLY AND TAKE YOUR TIME! Looks like they just break chicken legs and poor them in the soup. Contained small fragments of bone, and some of them are easy to miss. You could potentially crack a tooth, or worse, accidentally choke on one. I've never had a dish where I felt like I had to be this cautious while eating. They make delicious hand pulled noodles here! Very fresh and springy, just the right amount of chew. Tried to recreate Xian s spicy cumin lamb noods and while it didn't come close it was decent. Solid LanZhou Noodles. Probably the best I've had in Los Angeles. Makes Northern Restaurant (Suo Feng Yuan) look like the minors. What I liked, soup base clear, had hints of Sand Ginger, Umami Bone Broth, hints of cinnamon, heavy parsley/ cilantro, fennel, star anise, black cardamom, white peppercorns, mmmm, I can taste the broth even now, 2 days after that meal, very distinct, and when paired with their in-house chilli oil, not the one on the table, the actual spicy one they exclusively keep inside the kitchen, you can taste the additional layers to the chilli oil and it just brings the entire LanZhou Noodles to a whole another level. The lamb Rou Jia Mou was really filling. I liked the quantity, not overtly big, not too greasy, and had just the right amount of protein to keep the dish an appetizer, as you await the main course. Pickedled Sweet Kimchi Cabbage was also very enjoyable, although I prefer the in house ones made at Yumi Time in City of Industry better crispiness to the bite in their version and more balanced taste. A solid four, because I'm biased. Having worked with two extremely talented masters in Phoenix Arizona, I've tasted what could be the best LanZhou Noodles and Best Xiao Long Bao any seasoned restaurant staff could ask for. My former colleague Hand Pulled Noodle Master chef Shuai used to head the reknown LanZhou Noodles place in Gaithersburg Maryland serving up all those Ambassadors, Lobbyists, DC Politicians, and when we were in Phoenix Arizona, along with Pastry / Flour Dim Sum Master Chef Sister Ying, we concocted probably the best Xiao Long Bao / Rou Jia Mou and LanZhou Hand Pulled Noodles to ever grace the lands of Arizona and in my opinion, was far superior than any other place in Los Angeles. But again that's just me. I'm biased and I've been blessed to sit down, and have worked with some of the best small kitchen crews and experience great staff meals. LAN Noodle has been on my radar for awhile but I've always been lazy to head towards West Covina to give them a try. That will now change because it was that good! I got the Braised Beef Noodle Soup with Wide Flat Noodle and in Medium Spicy. Everything was exactly to my tastes. Fantastic hand pulled noodles with great texture, delicious soup and their chili is actually spicy, numbing and very flavorful. They are heavy handed with the spice, I'd say their medium is a typical extra spicy. I typically order extra spicy elsewhere but was trying to cut down on the oil a bit so got medium here and was pleasantly surprised that the level of spice was just right for me. My husband ended up ordering the following over the phone for pick up: Braised Beef with Wide Flat Noodles, $15.99 prior to tax- My husband remembered that he liked the dish I had ordered previously and so he decided to get this. I appreciate that the noodles were packed separately so that they would not be soggy. My mom really enjoyed this dish and so did my husband. I didn't get a chance to get any since they two of them ate it all. Go to spot for hand pulled noodles! It really makes a difference. Note that wide noodles will be pretty filling but texture is quite nice. The dishes here are portioned well, good flavor, and consistent. I prefer this spot to Mian, for example. The dan dan noodles were good, wish there was more minced pork. I might try thinner noodles next time, just a personal preference. And the next day I ate it cold after mixing some water in to soften the noodles and I daresay it tasted even better cold! You can pick your own spice level for the noodle. i ordered mild spice and it was kind of spicy for a mild level comparing to other places out there. I also ordered the spicy fried tofu as a side order. The spicy fried tofu is not that spicy as I am someone that can't handle that much spice. Both dishes are decent. For the Lan noodles, the wide flat noodles are huge so if you are someone that enjoys thin noodles, make sure to change your noodle option. They have 8 different kind of noodles but their signature one is the wide flat one. Overall, I would give a 3.5-4 star rating and I round it up to a 4 star based on we need to support small businesses especially if there is nothing bad I can complain about them. My partner, his 2 kids, and I came for the first time today! The restaurant was empty but it immediately felt like one of those places you could tell is a gem. We were told to sit anywhere, and while we were looking at the menu for a little bit, Jia the woman taking care of us, came over and asked if it was our first time here. (I don't even like noodles like that) Everyone really liked their dishes! K said his dish was a little spicier than he thought it would be, mind you he is 13 though. The kids kept passing their beef and pork back and forth to each other because it was so good. My partner liked his dish but I tried it and I hoped for a little more flavor, especially in the beef. It wasn't spicy to me at all, but I only tried a spoonful. I have a feeling the spice gets heavier as you keep eating it. Lanzhou cuisine is not a cuisine with which I have familiarity, but I wanted to try it as LAN Noodle was raved for their hand-pulled noodles. The space seats 20 people, with tables not too cramped. Staff is nice and friendly. Food comes out relatively fast. I have had their Lan Noodle with wide flat noodles, which was good but I ordered it without spice. Their mustard green beef noodle soup (spicy) was delicious. Their mustard green has a nice pickle flavour, and the soup was delicious, bringing out flavours in the daikon, cilantro, and garlic green. The interior looked cleaner and more modern than the Arcadia location. They still have the freshly made hand torn noodles, especially entertaining for the kiddos to watch. My boyfriend went with the thinnest round noodles mild, and I got the wide flat mild. The mild here is still pretty spicy. Be warned! For the veggie sides, we shared the smashed cucumbers and shredded potatoes. The soup was delicious and there was a decent amount of beef slices in the soup. Located in a plaza where Tokyo Central is, sandwiched in between a dumpling place and a Dunkin Donut/Baskin Robbins colab, this place serves up really yummy noods. Yes, the guy (and the rest of the staff) crafting your noodles is wearing a T-shirt captioned "Send Noods" probably from Sonny (YouTube influencer, Best Ever Food Review Show, IYKYK). Lots of parking maybe except on the weekends. We arrived at 20 minutes to closing & were immediately greeted by a female server, not too friendly (maybe with a small language barrier?) but cordial enough. She brings water in a jug & two silver tin cups. The noodle guy quickly works on our order & he already knows the drill, posing for the camera as he nods in acknowledgment. It's truly amazing to watch him work & knead the dough expertly without breaking a sweat. A few quick rolling, stretching & pulling, then tosses the finished noodles onto a boiling pot of water. Voila! In a few short minutes our dishes were cooked & served. I'm only giving it a 4 stars because the owner reached out to me and apologized for his staff and the pork knuckles that I ordered wasn't what I expected. He explained it to me that is pre made and is in the freezer until the customers orders it then they cook it again. But to me it tasted sour and old looking. I also ordered the xiao long boa and chicken gizzards. First he brought out the can of coke and the spicy tofu, sorry but the tofu is not spicy and it doesn't even have chili on them. Then the chicken gizzards was super spicy and chopped up to tiny pieces ( I didn't like it that it was chopped up like that), then the noodles ( i said mild, why is there so much chili oil on it ? It doesn't even look like the picture that I saw a guy posted from 10 months ago) then the lady brought out the xiao long bao with the sauce ( this one is good but there's no juice inside and if you don't eat it within the 30 minutes, it will dry up quickly, I was texting my friend while I was eating that's how I knew it dried up lol). So again, again they dropped of all my food, not one person came by to check up on me. Even the table of 4 next to me, no one came over to them either and the guy when up to the register to pay. I guess customer service isn't really their strong suit because if you read their reviews, a lot will say they never came over to check up on them if the food is ok or do they need anything else. Little things like this, goes a long way, you will have more returning customers, if not, they will eat next door to you. For a cold night, these were very comforting noodles! It's a small, quaint restaurant with friendly, quick service. We ordered the Lan Noodle combo that included their house Lan noodle soup bowl, a soft drink, and a small cold appetizer for under $20. First time trying this location a little closer to home and it was great! Same familiar noodle texture hand rolled, stretched and cut perfectly. I crave these noodles. They have various noodle cut styles to choose from I prefer thin and wide. This particular chef did an excellent job working this noodle dough into thin wide ribbons and cooking them to perfection. The seasonings in their dishes are such flavor bombs. Love the spice! We tried a few new things on the dry noodle section and were pleasantly satisfied. Service was excellent and tables were clean. Plenty of room for guests with small or larger parties. Has a galley seating arrangement so you're able to watch the Jedi masters at work with their noodle skills. This location wasn't as crowded at the time we went. Right in a pocket of goodness. Surrounding eateries and Tokyo central Japanese market. Boba in the opposite corner and dumplings next door. This place is on the smaller size, but the food here packed tons of flavor. Authentic chinese noodle soups that were both spicy and flavorful. Their popcorn chicken was amazing, it was super crunchy and had amazing flavor as well. Service was quick and the workers were nice and helpful. They don't check up on your table often, but it's enough where ur water is always refilled and flings are taken off the table. Don't think I've ever had Lanzhou style noodles, but it was pretty good. I got the LAN signature noodles, medium spicy, and I asked the lady what's the best cut of noodles and I think she gave me the thicker round cut noodles. It was pretty spicy, but the noodles were chewy and had a good texture on them. You can tell that it was hand pulled noodles. Also contained some tender pieces of beef that were pretty tasty. Lots of different stuff on the menu. I think the signature noodle was pretty good, but a little too spicy for me. I'll try something else next time and it's a really good meal to warm you up on a chilly day. read more
