Stopped by Arcadia to try 101 Pot All You Can Eat. They have been opened for a while and I believe there has been a change in ownership. They offer premium and prime options for their AYCE hot pot. Their prime menu was $52.95 and offered 9 different soup bases, 17 meat options, self serve bar filled with veggies, noodles and meat balls, drink stations and ice cream. I got the split pot with sukiyaki and jelly golden chicken broth. The sukiyaki was slightly sweet and full of umami flavor. The jelly golden chicken was flavorful and comforting. You can tell they boil down chicken bones from the chicken fat in the soup. They have 3 meats on the prime menu that were wagyu. All 3 were super tender and required little to no chewing. The abalone were massive and firm yet tender. We got the shrimp paste as well which was flavorful and filled with chunks of shrimp. The veggies were fresh and I enjoyed the variety. My favorites were the crown daisy, spinach, enoki mushrooms and Napa. They even have the sweet potato wide rice noodles that are slimy and chewy. Not a lot of AYCE places have it so it's a rare find. The staff here speaks Mandarin, Cantonese and English so ordering was not an issue. They have a small lot in the back with about a dozen spots which wasn't an issue on the week day. read more

We had a hankering for hotpot and this place hit the spot! There's a small parking lot in the back shared by a few shops in the plaza. We arrived around 5:30 and it was not busy. No wait and attentive service. The veggie bar is well stocked with a variety of options. Ordering was easy, pick level of pricing. Bowl type, Soup base and up to 6 meat at a time. The owner was really nice, she helped us take a pic and also took a pic for the photo wall in the back. I had split sukiayki and the mala spicy soup, both good. I also tried the tonkatsu, it was tasty. Meat took some time to come out but seafood is very fresh. The shrimp and mussel from the premium menu is very fresh. The drinks and ice cream are included. I love thrifty ice cream, with Rite Aid gone, I savor every chance I get to have Coconut Pineapple ice cream. I had the canned Herbal Tea and Milk tea, both are very good. This is a small establishment with a small lot behind it. My family and I met up with some friends and we were able to sit together (4 adults, 3 kids) at one table. It had 6 separate heating stoves for 6 different pots. We only utilized 4 ! The single pot is a good size for one person. The split pot does seem much smaller and is best for only one person. We thought we would be able to share it but it is not ideal. The sukiyaki is probably the best soup. It is much better than the one across the street I must say, but that is all that I enjoyed. They have a small area for your add ons; veggies, meatball, fishballs, etc. meat needed to be ordered with the staff however there was only 2 employees . It was slow service, even with 3 parties in the establishment. The food itself was mediocre. The employees were nice, but we definitely had to call them every time we wanted more meat. Wanted to try a new hotpot place so decided to come to 101. Came here during lunch special so the price was not bad at all. The options they have are pretty good. The meat they give is of great quality. A huge plus and very rare is that they have a fridge with soda cans, herb tea (lurng cha) cans up for grabs that's included with the ayce. Plus after you finish your meal, they have a little ice cream bar that's thrifty for your sweet tooth. Staff is super friendly but English isn't their first language so it might be hard to understand but good enough English to order and ask some questions. The place is pretty casual and good for any type of group. They even have a board where you can write on post its or put how many plates you succeeded in eating. Yummy! This was so good! The pork belly was delicious and the prime angus too! We got the premium menu for lunch and it was perfect. We tried the sakiyaki, miso and sour & spicy special broths. Each person can pick one or two broths. I would 100% get the sakiyaki every time, it was so good would pass on the miso next time. The sour & spicy special was delicious! We came here for lunch and it wasn't too busy, which was nice bc we had a noisy little one. The place is pretty simple. Sit down. Order soup base. Choose between the regular v high tier meat options. And then grab your veggies and fish balls etc at the bar (near the front door) and grab your own drinks (near the check out counter). The staff was kind. We actually had a lot of people checking in on us for extra meat orders. It is weird though that everything else is self-grab, including extra utensils, water/drinks etc. lol! Just wanted to update my review since I've been back several times since the change in management. Still a great deal, but definitely some things have been improved, including the atmosphere is definitely a lot more chill than before (music is turned down) and definitely has more of a family-run feel with the owner checking up on you. They don't have the fried appetizers anymore but I didn't really miss it. They also have Thrifty ice cream again instead of Fosselman's it seems like, but I like Thrifty better anyway. They have stamp cards now, so for every 6th visit, you get 20% off, so don't forget to ask. Still a pretty reasonable place to go if you want laidback and affordable Chinese hot pot, especially now that Shabu Lin and Mikomi are closed. Since I'm not a big fan of Japanese shabu broths anyway, this is where I go to get my fix. read more

Came here on Boxing Day (the day after Christmas) because the wait at Momo Paradise was just way too long. Honestly, it ended up being a pretty solid backup plan! The meat selection is a bit limited for the $39 price point, but the quality of the meat was actually really good. They have about 6 different soup bases to choose from, we went with the spicy and the mushroom, and both were flavorful. One of the best perks? Free drinks! It was a very small restaurant and the overall layout was just odd (room temperature cans of drinks and water station at the register counter, hot pot items and sauce at the front entrance, ice cream station at another corner). I couldn't get wait to get out of there because one of the staff (probably the owner?) was practicing her drums. The whole time while her customers were eating, she sitting a one of the table just was looking at her iPad and drumming away. I tried this newer AYCE hot pot restaurant recently. They are not too far from the Arcadia mall. They're across the street from the 85 Bakery. There is free parking in the lot nearby. They named the regular menu "premium" $32.95 and the more expensive one "prime" $48.95. With a $16 difference between the two, I decided to go for the premium for my first time. What makes this place stand out is that you get individual pots - and you can choose two soups! The menu said the sour and spicy and jelly golden chicken were prime items, but the server said we can choose those even though we got the premium menu. The tomato soup was best with original tonkotsu coming second. The sour and spicy special broth was a bit off, so we actually asked for this to be changed. Of the premium items, I liked the snakehead fish filet the best. The beef, lamb, and pork were so fatty!! The shrimp was ok. I didn't even try chicken breast because...why. All the veggies and sauces are self-serve. These items and drinks are right by the entrance door. They had tea dispensers and canned Coke and Sprite. There is a separate fridge for self-scoop ice cream in the other corner of the restaurant. Service is ok. There was one lady who would look at us once in a while. Came here for the first time recently with some friends. We got there around 6pm on a weekday and I was surprised to see it wasn't crowded. Our waitress was super funny and friendly. The food was really good too! Each of us got our own individual split pots and got to choose 2 broths each. I loved all the options they had at the veggies/noodles/extras garden. Not all hot pot places have corn available so I was happy they had it! They also had milk tea and soft drinks available. Ice was available upon request for your drinks. They had some warm sides available for you to grab yourself too- such as fried rice and egg rolls. The meats were paper thin and you only get 6 pieces at a time. The broth was good but you get your own small individual pot to cook the food and they didn't refill the soup until you asked. There is ice cream for dessert but the station isn't very clean. The same ice cream scooper is used for different flavors and the plastic spoons at the station were sticky. The food selections are near the entrance which is where ppl wait to be seated too, which is super crowded and very narrow space. They don't even stop by to check on our orders or refill our broths. It's a really small AYCE hot spot location. There's only 1 gender neutral restrooms, which they kept semi-cleaned. We were seated almost right away and were able to order as soon as we sat down. There are six broths to choose from (depending on whether you get premium or prime) and I got the tonkotsu and tomato. Both were flavorful and I enjoyed a bowl of the tomato soup before I started adding my vegetables and meats. The vegetable bar has what you would want and expect. First off, the food and broth selection is decent--especially for the price. What makes me want to gag is the cleanliness of the area on the floor around the tables. There is dirt and crud piled high against the walls under the table. We saw it a few weeks ago and figured they just missed a spot. As it turned out they missed all the spots. Stopped in for lunch after seeing their giant $19.99 lunch deal sign a few times when passing by. You only get 1 plate of sliced meat/fish, but everything else is still AYCE. That includes all veggies, meatballs, tofu, noodles, etc. Unfortunately the plate of angus beef was so fatty (70% fat, 30% lean) that it was hard to put in your mouth. This was the first hotpot place we visited with so many best seafood choices both in their prime and premium; large oysters, sweet shrimp, mussels, and even abalone. And the fresh and hot bar was also abundant. The meats were tender and the variety was more than enough. And 6 flavors of ice cream, yes, SIX/6 (you have to try their pistachio). And price even comes with their tea and drinks (must have is the jasmine soy milk). Cozy, little place with also nice employees. Fully enjoyed my experience here at this mom and pop hot pot place coming during OFF HOURS. $50/person to have your own split pot with access to the best meats ever. Biggest pros here is the delicious lemon iced tea and their brilliant quality of meats. They don't give you dinky amounts at paper thin slices like all that shabu does. You can order four meats at a time and they're decent portions do you don't have to keep waving them down. Their sauce place is great although personally I would say it's unneeded. The meats with the sukiyaki broth alone was flavorful that I only dipped my veggies in my sauces. Loved the tonkatsu broth as well. The owners and servers were all caring and personable. Will be coming back during off hours as I don't want to imagine that smaller space packed. read more
