12" Italian Spicy Hawaiian Pizza - add pepperoni
    Todd J.

My wife was in the mood for pizza. Glad we stopped here. Pizza was delicious. We sat at the bar, had a couple drinks, and a couple pizzas. She had the Superior, and I had the Italian Spicy Hawaiian, add pepperoni. We would definitely stop here again.

When you're just coming into town after a long day on the road and needing some comfort food, I'd recommend calling Fired Up Pizza for some fresh pies. Ordered one of their Vesuvius and kids pies, side salad and everything was excellent. Service was attentive for the pickup and was out the door in about a minute. Been really digging the wood fired pizzas lately as they have a nice and light, flakey, chewy crust. Full bar and a smaller dine in area if you want to sit down.

    Spinach & Artichoke Dip

What a gem! Stopped in for an early dinner and got a margarita pizza and the spinach artichoke dip, which was by far the best I've ever had. Excellent service and the food came out quickly. The dip and one pizza was enough for 2 for dinner.

We put our (party of 4) name on the wait list early (5:15pm) ... showed up to check (as the app reflected 0 minute wait). The hostess let us know it would be a 40 minute wait, however they sent us a text within 20 minutes that our table was ready. The sweet & salty pizza and the fired up pizza were our favs, lots of flavor and heavy on the toppings. Server was quick and friendly. Would definitely come again.

Service was decent, food was ehhhh for the $$$. Husband had a chicken pesto sandwich that read like it would be delicious- chicken was dry and hard. Kid and I both had pizza. $30 for a 12 inch meat pizza and $18 for my pepperoni. Nothing special about the pizzas. Now.... We had a smoked mozzarella and chilies cheese dip that was amazing! That saved the meal.

August 24, 2024. Saturday. Lunch. Visited here on the advice of one of my wife's friends. We decided to sit outside as it was a lovely day in Durango. Molly, our server, attentively refilled our water and brought our cocktails out before the pizza. I ordered a Durango Smash cocktail ($13). This featured anejo tequila, agave nectar, fresh lemon juice and topped with Grand Mariner. It had a sour finish and I liked it on a warm day. Very refreshing. The pizza was called the Fired Up ($22.75). This came with roasted red bell peppers, fennel sausage, mushrooms and a margherita base. As they were making the pizza I walked to the back bathroom. The kitchen folks aren't wearing hair nets or beard masks. They seemed a little "loose" with the hygiene back there. This came into play when I ate my pizza. The pizza came with large expanses of no toppings at all, just sauce. The last slice of pizza had a long brown hair baked into it. Neither my wife nor I have long brown hair! This made me sick to my stomach as I had previously removed a small hair from another slice I thought was my own. I told Molly and she comped that pizza, but damage was already done. We will not be returning to this establishment.

She took the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad to Silverton, but unfortunately I wasn't able to go because of a medical condition that prevents me from traveling to high altitudes, and the train climbs to around 10,000 feet. After she left on her adventure, I decided to find some breakfast. While I was walking around town, my aunt called. She and my uncle used to vacation in Ouray every year, so she knows the area well. She recommended Jean-Pierre Bakery, so that's where I headed. I was seated right away and ordered a coffee while I looked over the menu. My waitress was very friendly, and we chatted for a while. She even recommended a few places around town that I should check out. I finally decided on the Croque Monsieur (brioche, béchamel, ham, and Swiss cheese) served with a salad. When my meal arrived, it looked fantastic. The sandwich was delicious, rich, and full of flavor. It was my first time trying a Croque Monsieur, and I really enjoyed it. The salad was fresh and crisp, and the vinaigrette paired perfectly with it. After finishing my meal, I couldn't resist ordering a pistachio cream-filled éclair that had caught my eye when I first walked in. It looked beautiful, but unfortunately, it was a disappointment. The pastry was very dry, and the bottom was quite hard. It definitely didn't taste freshly made. The pistachio cream had a nice flavor, but there wasn't very much of it. I mentioned my concerns to my server, and she kindly brought me a chocolate éclair to try instead. It also looked wonderful, but it had the same problem. The pastry tasted old, almost like it had been sitting for a couple of days. I would absolutely return for another Croque Monsieur or to try something else from the breakfast or lunch menu because that part of the meal was excellent. As for the pastries, they certainly look beautiful, but based on my experience, I would probably pass on them next time. This would have been a solid 4 star if those eclair had of been good.
