After reading reviews on Yelp, we chose Firehouse Grille, as we were in an area where we don't normally eat. it was on the later side for dinner, and when we drove up it was a small building with few windows and some bikers outside. everyone was a little nervous and wondered if this was biker bar or restaurant, and my husband even said for me to go in and check it out to make sure it was OK for the kids. I told him nope, Yelpers never let us down, and I was sure it would be fine. This is literally the most hidden, local gem I have come across and so glad to have found it! First - service. Our waitress, Lex, was Probably the best server we have had in a long time. My husband told her we had not been here before and asked what was good on the menu. She took a couple of minutes to actually go through highlights of the menu with us and give us recommendations that did not disappoint. She was busy but super friendly and checked on us an appropriate amount. Cups were hardly emptied before she refilled. Someone else mentioned on here this place was like Cheers- neighborhood hangout. My 13 yr old, not having read these reviews made the comment that "everyone seems to know each other here". That is the vibe of this place - So if it is busy and you have to eat at their bar, embrace it, as you might meet some new friends! This is pub grub, not super fancy pub grub, but really good pub grub. I started out with an appetizer pretzels and cheese. 4 big, HOT pretzel sticks with a yummy cheese sauce were delicious. They are not stingy on the cup of sauce. Make sure you save remaining sauce for whatever else you have coming up next. The kids had chicken fingers while I had a Probie (Reuben) and my husband had the fish and chips, and starter of chili w/cornbread. Everything was delicious! Chicken fingers were big and all white meat. Tasted homemade with lots of crisp coating. My Reuben was not deli meat, but thick slices of homemade corned beef with house made pickled cabbage. Where a lot of Reubens are very salty, this one was not and the meat fell apart in your mouth. So good! The fish was crispy and fresh w/a very good tartar sauce. They have different fries with dry rubs can be tossed in. I had the salt and vinegar rub on my fries and they were very tasty. My husband had the firehouse fries which had a slight kick. My son had the German fries, which were slices of baked potato drenched in butter and garlic. A decadent choice! Fries seemed to be hand cut. The chili was also great but the cornbread... wow. Cake-like texture but crisp grilled on outside. I could've eaten a pan of that! Everything was very reasonably priced with all of our meals in the $10-$14 range. To me, most things tasted homemade and not frozen from Sysco. While we are not in Auburn often, our whole family thought this would be worth taking a drive up for dinner again!

I am becoming a great fan of sneak attacks from unassuming humble pubs. Tonight we invited some friends to join us at Firehouse Grille in Auburn Maine. We were told about it from friends who lived nearby. When we arrived the place was humming. As we walked through the door, I felt like my entry should have been accompanied by the theme song to the classic tv show "Cheers". The pub was quaint, with lots of happy folks and seemed like a fun place regulars called home. I then noticed there were only two servers for the whole place.....on a Friday evening no less. However, they were amazing to watch because they were flying around like it was a cross fit challenge and making it look easy. We were greeted by Lex, who got our crew seated and served us. We started with pretzels and cheese sauce and a batch of NACHOS. The pretzels were soft and warm with a hint of cinnamon sugar and rounded out the Salty with some sweet. The cheese sauce was in a small bowl and it was used on everything until it was gone- because it was fricken cheese sauce!!! Our server Lex, was truly a cocktail genius, dialing up and nailing drink suggestions as if she grew up with us. Next came the NACHOS! Every colored corn tortilla chip I've ever seen, smothered with beef, cheese, veggies and more cheese. I decided on the fish and chips and a side of sweet potato waffle fries. The haddock was perfectly cooked. It was fresh and moist, not greasy. The house fries were great and before I even realized it, my sweet potatoes fries had been kidnapped by my wife (who was NOT sorry but did allow me a few). This meal was such a hearty helping it left me fully satisfied and unable to find any extra space for dessert. The rest of my crew and I without a doubt enjoyed everything and will be back. Thanks Firehouse and special shout out of respect and awe to our server Lex!! Go check it out, you may even hear theme music as you walk through the door!

Yelped this place while driving up to northern Maine and chose it cause it was highly ranked... WELL DESERVED, and priced well. The Reuben is fantastic here. Highly recommended

A special. Always homemade specials and soups

I've posted before but today is a Mai Tai with fruits in season in other states. As I've said, best drinks around! Food even better

Now that the weather is breaking and Spring is in the air....it's time for this foodie to begin exploring what this great state of Maine has to offer... So first on my "Spring Fling" list was the quaint chill spot called Firehouse Grille. I'll just cut right to the chase....my experience was mind blowing! Every item I had was made to perfection from my signature Jolly Rancher cocktail (my personal favorite with burgers) to the tastebud delightful Cardiac Burger....I cant say enough about this burger (and burgers are one of my favorite things) it was absolutely made to perfection with bacon, cheddar cheese, jalapeños, onion rings, killer barbecue sauce and all the regular fixings. (Your gonna drool when you see the pics!! My side items were tasty and dessert was exceptional. The staff was completely attentive and helpful with suggestions to their menu. It was a great overall experience and warrants multiple visits! Whenever you are in the LA (Lewiston/Auburn) area be sure to make this a stop on your list and share your experience with me, I would love to hear your thoughts! Until the next review "Happy Eating" !

I loved my salmon especially with that delicious maple bourbon glaze. They put enough to mix with the rice. So good!!!!!!! the broccoli was cooked perfectly, not too hard/not too soft. I really hope this restaurant stays. I have one concern.....the parking, yes, for the customers, but more so for the restaurant staff. Restaurant staff are getting parking tickets. What's the point of working downtown if all restaurant staff tips go to paying parking tickets? I suggest the owners of all the restaurants downtown talk to the city of Lewiston, and ask if restaurant staff could get a free pass to the garage after they show proof of employment. Use a sticker on the window IDing cars exempt from payment to the garage. City of Lewiston, please step up and help hard working people not lose their tips to parking tickets. Don't want to lose good workers due to parking tickets. Lewiston, you have wonderful downtown restaurants. HELP KEEP THE HELP!!!!! Abby was amazing, kind, attentive. Enjoyed her very much. The ambiance was relaxing. The lighting is prefect, not too dark, not too light. There were not many people when we were there, probably due to no available parking, so I don't know the noise level. I could guess, based on the height of the ceiling I would think it would be noisy, echo'ey, if it were packed. But not so loud as to prevent a conversation with your party. Definitely will be going back. I want to try ahi tuna next. Linda Lavoie Mckinney

The cheesesteak definitely tasted like steakums, ya know that pre sliced stuff in the frozen section. The bus was too large for the amount of meat given, but the bread was good. The service was slow for how dead it was, the bartender was good for daytime service, nice guy, but I'd hate to see how that panned out on a busy night. Great space, nice decor, lighting, very clean. Lots of potential, several places have failed in this spot, hopefully they work the kinks out. (I didn't eat the other items pictured)

The food was what I was expecting and hoping for....rich, indulgent food, that met my savory and sweet cravings. We were greeted immediately upon walking through the door and were instructed to sit any where we wanted. We had plenty to choose from around 10:30am on Saturday, even on a holiday weekend. All of the open tables, were clean and ready for new patrons. The restaurant was about half full and appeared to be mostly regulars, as they were chatting with the staff and each other. I love local places that know the locals that well. Our drink orders were taken within a minute of sitting. The hot chocolate were rich and creamy even without whipped cream. I opted not to have it added. I ordered a blueberry muffin as my "appetizer". They offer it as is, or grilled. I love it grilled and it was good and not too filling. For our meals we ordered a table pancake (meaning, a pancake for sharing). It was fluffy and perfectly good - nice and hot. They have "syrup" and it reminded me of being a kid and having Log Cabin syrup. I didn't ask, but it didn't taste like pure maple syrup. I ordered the corned beef hash skillet with a grilled english muffin. It was perfectly cooked and it was delicious. It tasted like canned corned beef hash and I was not mad about it. I truly wanted comfort food and this hit. My friend had the S.O.S. (gravy with beef and pork) AKA Sh*t on a Shingle. It looked soooo good and she stated the biscuit and gravy and meat were good. We took our leftovers home, which will tell you, the portions were decent, the food was delicious and no delicious food would be left behind. I recommend this restaurant if you are interested in diner food, with quick friendly service and plenty of space. I definitely want to come back and get the S.O.S.

The bar is spacious and on Thursday night they had someone playing life music. We ordered a pizza, burger, and pickle chips and all of the food was tasty. The service is also excellent! We were surprised to see a pile of jalapeños included - maybe it's on the menu and we missed it. Corn bread was moist. I opted for a build your own burger which was great. No bun, lettuce and tomato. The waitress told me to just tell her what I wanted on it and she'd get it for me. Cool. She didn't tell me I would be charged an extra $1 for a tiny bit of spinach, and 75 cents each for grilled onions and mushrooms. Not cool. I definitely would have just selected an "already made" option. I asked for sautéed mushrooms and onions so was a little surprised to get deep fried shrooms. There were good - I would probably order, and even be willing to pay extra, for them again. My issue was not being told. The seasoned fries were really good. The iced tea and Hazy IPA were (of course) good. Our waitress was a bit too attentive. It seemed almost like every time we took a bite, she was asking if everything was okay. Maybe just check in a couple times over the course of the meal? Please do remember that 3 is not bad. For me, it's a solid average.
