First and last time I set foot in a Firehouse Subs. This is the biggest pile of garbage I've ever eaten in my entire life, and I'm not exaggerating. Nothing here is good. And it's not just the food, the people running it are completely incompetent. It took 20 minutes to make three baby subs like there was nobody else in the store. I asked for one simple thing, no mayo on my sandwich. You think they could handle that? Nope. Mayo on the sandwich. The place itself is disgusting. You walk in and there's spills all over the floor nobody's bothered to clean up. And the food. So inedible my 2 year old and my 6 year old wouldn't even touch the mac and cheese, and those are two kids who eat mac and cheese anywhere. The sandwiches sat there uneaten. Well one time my sandwiches that o always order ( same) were wonderful and consistent which is what you expect for firehouse. However, the next week, same location and same order- it tasted and looked like a whole different place and felt like trainees with no oversight may have made the sandwiches. Came here due to JM running out of bread. Arrived about an hour prior to closing and the sectioned off the dinning area and restrooms citing they were shutting down early for the night. We got 3 smalls instead! Told the young man and he said he would remake the medium but he put it on the end of five other sub orders. Took another 15 minutes. Lazy and unapproachable worker but great food. I know this may seem like a Karen move but I don't care because when someone advertises a deal for something and still overcharges in the end. They had a deal of the day for sandwiches for $8.49 but the cashier Bryant charged it for $9.29. I asked if she would match the deal of the day price and she said tax was already included. But I think it was because she was too lazy to change it. So after I received the receipt I saw that there was an additional food tax of .65¢ so the total came out to $9.94 which is more than they're advertising their food for. Sooo slow.... I stood at the counter for what felt like the eternity of time before any of the 4 associates even acknowledged my existence. Nobody looked up, said a single word, nothing, not until they were done doing what they were doing. I get Destin gets a huge portion it's revenue from tourism but regardless, customer service is always priority number one or people won't come back. Considering I was one of three customers in the entire building I would have expected somebody to have spoken to me as I stood there waiting to order. The food... well it was good. Always fast and good. Only 1 problem..... Hot sauce is part of your gimmick. I have only been here one time when they actually had HOT hot sauce. They are always out. Empty bottles on the shelf. I've never had a bad experience at a Firehouse. We've visited locations all over and have always been met with friendly and professional employees, as well as fresh, GOOD food. Yesterday for lunch I had a small meatball sub in white bread. This is heir 4-inch sandwich, which was perfect in size for me. I made it a meal and got chips and a drink. Our sandwiches were brought it to us in a very short amount of time and, even though it wasn't a long wait at all, the employee apologized for our wait. Our sandwiches were fresh from the oven and delicious. I always use a fork and knife to eat meatball subs, and this was no exception. I'm not sure if they make their meatballs on-site - I doubt it - but I think they are good. With the sauce and melted cheese, I had a steaming, filling lunch. The restaurant itself is like any other FHS - plenty of tables, plenty of sauces to choose from, plenty of employees manning the prep space.
