they warm your press and seal meat in hot water. That's why your sandwich is always wet. if the press and seal isn't completely sealed when they throw it in the bath,, good luck. Its super slow. waited 20 mins for 3 subs. Made my Italian sub hot? who does that? They didnt even ask hot or cold? the, workers don't seem to care either, that is the ones who actually speak english. Some guy approached my car while I was in it, and asked for money with his hand in his pocket, I pointed a gun at him, and said nothing, he then walked away. Smart move. Very very bad location. I've been trying for a month to resolve a problem. Manager won't call back. Very unethical company. They made our subs wrong. Will not re make. Would not refund. Now being ignored. They expect us to pay for an order we didn't order!!!! HOW does that make any sense?? Also if you have not read their policy.....you should ! And will be shocked. Very sad They don't value allergies here or they would pay more attention. Seeing other reviews it happens often and won't be fixed. AVOID!! While this Firehouse Sub location is close to where I work, it's not a frequent stop on my lunch circuit. The one thing this location has going for it is an enthusiastic, friendly staff that is rarely seen at a fast food outlet. The location is clean and well-maintained, decorated with firefighter memorabilia, some of it customized to Madison. The sandwiches are not anything special. The bread was spongy and did not offer much flavor. It held up well to the marinara sauce in my meatball sub, but that's about it. The under seasoned meatballs lacked any sear - just very bland compared to other meatball subs I've tried. The marinara sauce also was a letdown in the flavor department. At a little over $6, the sandwich was fairly valued, considering the size of the portions. read more

Terribly long wait. After waiting 20 min with our toddlers I went up to check and they had the order that had been sitting out, with the wrong name on it. They never called it out. And the manager blamed me for her typing the wrong name and for them not calling it out. Third time we've been here semi-recently and terrible wait times time. The staff here are always smiling and friendly, the subs are always loaded with the goodies and never skimp on the meat, and I'm always full afterwards without feeling disgusted with myself. I always pay a visit to the hot sauce bar on the side and leave with new sauces to bring home and try. Always get your subs Fully Involved! In terms of subs, Firehouse is the best IMO. Even better than my ex-favorite, Cousins Subs. This review is less about this specific location and more about their food. That being said, this location is just fine. Now, onto those subs. So much more flavor than the sandwiches of Subway, Jimmy Johns, or Milios (yuck). They take a little longer to make but the wait is worth it. My personal favorites are the Hook & Ladder and the Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket subs. read more

I love a good Italian sub - and this place delivers. Loaded with meat and good bread and not dry. Better than the Mineral Point Rd location. Able to add olives and pepperocinis at no charge. Their service is great n sandwich is really awesome. I have eaten in this place many times n the quality is consistently good. The freshness of veggies, melted cheese and slice of pickle makes it mouth watering! Yum.... Probably due to the way they prepare their sandwiches they take more time than your topical sandwich shop like Subway. I only wish they had more outlets everywhere like the subways. read more

11:30 a.m. on a Wednesday I stop to grab a sandwich. Walk in and there's three people making sandwiches and nobody at the register. So I wait about five minutes and finally ask one of the guys if anybody is working the register and and he looks at me and tells me "you gotta just wait". They are so behind its a 45 minute wait for a sub. There are workers standing around. Workers are arguing and swearing. Everytime I come here the workers are slow argumentative and very un organized. How is this restaurant still open. Poor service slow service and usually less than good food. They need new management this type of service is unacceptable read more

Incredibly disappointed with this location, as I've always loved Firehouse Subs, but my last visit to the Emil St. location WILL be my last for some time to come, if not forever. A couple of weeks back my son and I stopped in on a Saturday evening to purchase combo orders. It was clear that this was a problem for the staff as we had to listen to the counter person complaining about how long they'd be there cleaning up after my son ordered a meatball sub. My sandwich -- the Hook and Ladder -- was simply placed on the counter while my son's order was actually bagged. Neither had the pickle spear that normally comes with the order. There is also a sign on the door REQUIRING a face covering because of Covid, but the individual preparing the food had his hanging down below his chin. For $27+, I expect better service instead of snarky attitudes and unprofessional behavior. As much as I've always enjoyed Firehouse, I will take my business elsewhere from now on. read more

When I saw a sandwich on the menu with both I was excited, little did I know the sub would come out to my table 15 minutes later as a mess. It was so salty too. Rude girl behind the counter gave me attitude when I refused to round up on my bill to donate to the fire service (I donate cash instead). Even after I donated she still gave me attitude and replied "it's only 3 cents, most people would do that". At that point I just stared at her astounded by what she just said. Does she not realize the 5 dollars I just donated is more than the 3 cents that would've been rounded up? Who knows, maybe she's not that great at math. She's lucky it's finals week for most aspiring young adults so I had no time or patience to sit and bicker with a idiotic store clerk who is going nowhere in life. Never again will I go there as I hate being called out on the amount I donate (which is every time). Time to find a new sub shop. read more
