The subs are so small, and so expensive for what you get. Not very fresh and one of the girls behind the counter was rude!!! I couldn't believe how rude she was because it was literally the beginning of lunch hour. How are you already upset with life? Ambaince smelt like old mop water, they need to clean the mop or something because I couldn't stand being in there so I ate outside. Won't be coming back, doesn't seem fresh and clean to me

Picked up a sandwich where I asked for no ham or pickle, added mustard. I receive a sandwich with a pickle, ham, no mustard, no cheese. The people working there are so unfriendly and rude it's actually insane. I asked if I could have my sandwich remade and they basically told me no because it was a pick up order, huh??

Always a good sandwich. Bread is fresh. Sandwiches are nice sized. My go to is the meatball sub. Nice and tasty and messy. Go with the nine inch. You won't leave hungry or over stuffed. I think staffing is an issue here. We've been to this location. Multiple times and they seemed to be short staffed. But with that said, the staff they do have seem to work pretty good in that situation. We've encountered a couple staff members who are a tad lazy. And the pickle spears are the best. Pick up a 5 gallon bucket while you're there. The money goes to a good cause.

They didn't give me my pickle with my sandwich :( That's the best part about getting a sub!!! But they did offer to fix the problem which was very kind of them. I love Firehouse Subs - A friend of mine introduced them to me years ago. I think they definitely make the best subs out of all the chains! They are very pricey, but sometimes nothing beats a nice melty sub.

The app has occasional specials. Good deals. Delicious sandwiches! The regular prices are too high, IMO... but with the deals on the app, I'm down.

I have to say I wouldn't imagine giving a sandwich shop 5 stars but it was worth it. I had a coupon to use but I had to use it online. I downloaded the app and looked at the menu and ordered easily enough. There's quite a selection. I placed my order and it told me the time it would be ready. I ended up being a few minutes early but was happily greeted and told it would be done shortly, I could grab my chips and drink whilst I waited. I love the fireman decor and the cause this restaurant supports. My order was indeed ready quickly and the staff was so nice and friendly. Most San Diego restaurant staff should train here first, better service than I have had most high end restaurants. When I read several reviews I was skeptical because they said this was the best sandwich they ever had. I have to say it was excellent sandwich they weren't wrong. I'm so happy to have found a sandwich shop I like so much!

Skimpy veggies, no onions, no pickle, no mustard when we ordered extra veggies and the above

Worst customer service and sandwiches I have ever had. I know cause I ordered the same 7 hook and ladder sub sandwiches with 7 cookies for different members of my family. We ordered all 7 sandwiches without the ham, Turkey, cheese and mayonnaise and had ordered extra veggies (tomato, lettuce and onions) on all of them except one, as well as normal mustard and pickle on the side. You think they would be more generous with the veggies since you are not getting the expensive meat.. well no, they were skimpy on veggies and didn't even include onions or mustard on all orders! Before I left, I noticed 3 of them, done by the younger male employee did not have cookies!! I had to call his attention to this. I should have checked each order but I didn't know customer service sucks so bad here. In addition, when I got home, 4 did not have pickles either. NONE of the sandwiches had onions or mustard and all of them had skimpy veggies - not the extra veggies that we had ordered. On top of all the errors, one had white bread - when I had ordered all wheat bread!!! One has bits of meat when we had ordered NO meat!!! mayonnaise all over one of the sandwiches when we ordered none. Can you make any more errors??? Customer service the worst. They just do not care! They didn't just mess up on one order, they messed up on EVERY SINGLE ORDER!!! Will not come back again unless they offer to remake all my whole order right again and then some!!

Still hoping it gets better because I really want to try the seasonal Turkey Sandwich but literally about to drive to the next county to get one.

The only thing I can really say against this Firehouse is the service is slow. The staff is friendly enough and the food is delicious.

We ordered sandwiches from the walk up menu. There are many choices available. The prepared dinner selections looked really good and I look forward to trying those in the future. The sandwich cost was on the higher side. Close to $20 with a tip. The portion was pretty large and the quality was very good so that helped. I also chose ciabatta bread and didn't realize that was an extra $3 until after I saw my receipt. Some upgrades were more clearly marked but I didn't see that one. They have a very nice patio area to sit while you are eating. I thought it was very nice that they bring the food out to you.

Really? Or even more depending where you go. Frankly I don't know how anyone can afford it any longer but that's a different story. The new owners still don't even seem to know what they are doing after I would say 3yrs now, maybe even more since taking over this place. I used to love going here, now I go maybe once every 3 months if even that and I know why. The service is not the same, the owners are clueless and the food doesn't taste the same at all. The atmosphere of feeling like you are at home when most everyone but mostly the owner remembered you, would come talk to you, helped you and knew what she was taking about, is all gone. I was there yesterday for one of my favorite sandwiches, meatball sandwich. I like that the meatballs are small, not a size of a baseball or even larger, just perfect size, tasty etc. I go up to the register and instead of his clueless wife when you ask her a question and she looks at you as if you're from another planet then has to go and ask one of her employees which that in itself looks totally bad, this time was her husband who looks to me for now the 4th time through the year I visited, that should just stick to staying in the gym since he looks like someone that takes care of himself that way, quite fit, and although nothing at all with that, perhaps leave the deli part of it to someone else and go back to working out instead, it seems his forte. When I told him the sandwich I wanted, he clearly said to me "what would you like with the sandwich" a question I was never asked before because it simply came with a small bag of chips or pasta salad, so I asked what did the sandwich come with, "it comes" the word that he used "it comes with", not "extra charge" and he mentioned French fries, bag of chips while he pointed where the chips were, pasta salad. I said, "I'll try the French fries". Not ONE TIME he said to me that none of the items he mentioned to me were extra charge, I even told him, "oh they come with all that you just told me"? He said yes. When I paid the total came to $24 dollars, the sandwich itself was $13.65 and a coke that I ordered was $3, how did it get to $24? Well, the French fries were extra cost. Had I chosen a bag of chips, the once he pointed at were also extra charge just like if I ordered pasta salad, I found out about the extra charge from the lady that brought me the sandwich and I asked why my bill was $24 dollars, SHE, not the owner told me about the extra charges. After I said to her, "why didn't or doesn't the owner tell you so instead of saying that these extras come with the sandwich" she looked at me and said "I don't know". She didn't even know however any of the prices of the sandwich they sell. These are the new employees now. I know you are going to think why I didn't ask right away why my bill was $24 dollars. I didn't even think about it immediately, I was hungry at this point, the place was quite busy and I wanted to find a place to sit, no excuse, but didn't think about it right away. Not until I set down and then started thinking about why my bill was higher. That was my fault. I should have immediately asked and actually I should have gone to the owner afterwards and mentioned to him that he should tell the customers correctly, meaning do NOT SAY "IT COMES WITH" that means IS NOT EXTRA CHARGE. He needs to say that wherever we want with it, there is an extra, then up to the customer if he/she wants it or not. The sandwich did not taste like the way it used to taste, meatballs still small but they were very salty, and the fries although I will say cooked pretty nice, crispy and all, a very small portion and also very salty. Overall and sadly for me because I truly liked this place a lot with the previous owner, it's not a place I would go back to. The prices are as high and now higher than any other place nowadays, nothing spectacular, their bakery department is now very limited, used to be huge and very nice selections, they used to have a pastry chef in the back that made the best deserts, and I don't know if they also changed cook, but nothing tastes the same. The place is always very busy, so I am sure I won't be missed, I won't waste my money here again. The new owners should by now know what they sell, know how to interact with customers better, know the job they took over. The owners before were absolutely wonderful and great to talk to, they would interact with you ask you if everything was ok, great service from the staff. I miss them and the new owners really need to step up, it's time. The place also very dirty on floors, tables, trash cans totally disgusting and filthy.

Their Kale & White Bean Salad is another favorite, and I haven't had a fresh juice there that I didn't enjoy. Surprisingly, their matcha is pretty solid too. The store has a great selection overall and feels like the closest thing Oceanside has to a Whole Foods. I find myself stopping in at least once a week for meal prep ingredients, snacks, or something from the deli case. The reason I'm landing at 4 stars instead of 5 is mostly the location. There's almost always something interesting happening outside, and it's not uncommon to see police activity nearby. Also, if you order a fresh juice or hot drink, don't expect it to come out lightning fast. They definitely take their time. That said, those are pretty minor complaints. The quality of the food, produce, and prepared items keeps me coming back. All in all, it's a great neighborhood market with plenty of healthy options and some hidden gems if you're willing to explore a little.
