This was a pretty good sandwich! I'm not really ever in the mood for a sandwich, and I detest hot subs for some reason (TURKEY AND MELTED CHEESE DO NOT GO TOGETHER) . My husband had been talking about this chain since circa 2008 when we lived in Arlington, and it took a girlfriend of mine recently mentioning how good they are to convince me to try it. Anyway, so I went in with high expectations. Today was cold again in Austin (boo!) and when we pulled up the windows of Firehouse were foggy. Good sign of warm food cookin' inside. The kid who took our order could have been friendlier, but maybe he was having a bad day. I got the smaller meatball sub on white. My husband got the larger brisket sub. They came out in a decent amount of time. That sandwich was GOOD, y'all! The bread was soft and warm, the sauce and cheese were warm and yummy, and the meatballs were really good. Not too big either, the meatballs. My husband really liked his sandwich, too. So with the exception of that kid's poor attitude, this was a great experience! This restaurant is an absolute disaster. I ordered catering through a third party and they would not answer the phone as the order was an hour late. Finally the manager told a representative from the catering company I use that he would not help us because he quit. My lunch was never delivered as the driver stole it.... if they ever even made it in the first place! My lunch was absolutely ruined. This isn't the first time they have been late or had issues. Decided to try something different then the normal pizza or Chinese delivery....Found this on the delivery app and glad I chose them.... Delivery was quick enough, driver was polite and food wasn't messed up from shifting around in the car. The sub...Pastrami with wheat bread...was pretty darn good..mind you tho, not the normal pastrami sub that you'd get in Calif.......this was Subway type of pastrami...just with better and MORE meat....Lots of meat, nice healthy amount of lettuce(love lots of shredded lettuce)....only with there was more tomato and onion(2 tomatoes on a large sub) and "strands" of onion...like 3 pcs of onion....but overall a very good sub...Calif. good....meh...but think they are 2 different "beasts" when comparing the types.....I will always love the pastrami subs I got in SoCal....just perfect...but here, it will do... The wheat bread...average at best..nothing special nothing really wrong...this is where Subway outshines...their variety and freshness.. Also got a brownie...meh, more of a gas station bought type then one made at a food joint. Don't think I'd order that again...just not worth it. Overall, FAT MAN APPROVED!!! Attempted to place a delivery order. Received a call a few minutes later that they were out of Coke, but had coke zero , diet or or I could get a fountain drink. Online it shows several options for other bottled sodas, so I told the guy that I didn't want diet or a fountain and to tell me what other bottled options he had. His rude, condescending reply, "I've already told you the options." No excuse, told him there was no need to be a dickhead and to cancel my order he refused saying I had to call Grubhub which I did and they were super friendly. read more

The first time I ordered it was really good....this past order...wow, what a difference.....chili was filled about 1/4 full and didn't have xtra cheese that was ordered...over 5bux for much less then what comes in canned chili, ordered 3 bottles of soda...the diet was a bottle, the regular were can...over 2bux each for can coke...wow....and 8bux for a small sub that is like 2-3 bites...needless to say this is the last time will be buying from them.....will say the large sub was decent, but def. does not override the other issues.... read more

I ordered from door dash and my food was pretty soggy maybe because the driver was 15 minutes late. I talked to the manager on duty about taping up delivery bags that go out for customers piece of mind that our food is safe and untampered with. Got there to get a meatball sub to go. 2 people in front of me, yet it still took 20 minutes to get my food. Got back to work and my meatball sub was cut in two and in two smaller containers. Went to pick one half up and it fell apart. The bread was cut open like a hamburger bun. How the hell do you make a meatball sub and cut the bread like a hamburger bun? So, I'm at work, eating this with no utensils and 3 napkins, and all the meatballs are burnt on one side. Obviously I got the meatballs left at the bottom of the metal pan that had not been stirred. Firehouse Subs is pretty good. The subs are pretty big and they put on a lot of stuff, and they're tasty. The whole place is firehouse-themed, which is neat and I bet kids get a kick out of it. Now, I like all of the different sub shops for different reasons. Firehouse doesn't get their sandwiches as hot and toasty as other places (they advertise it being "steaming hot" and it was just sorta warm). Love Firehouse. This location is horrible, the manager is ridiculous and the team members are looking up to the not so great manager. Went in after making an online order which was supposed to be ready at 11.45am. There was a short line but not too bad. My order was paid for and I walked in at 11.40am. I asked one of the employees about my order, she went and check a bag on the back counter and said it wasn't ready yet. I stood there and waited. At 12pm I asked the manager about the order and she said "the girl told you to stand in line", I replied with, no, she said it was not ready. I first came across this place while living in San Antonio looking for a New Sandwich joint. I love when you first walk in you get the smell of fresh bread baking. I love their pickles that complementary to the meal in fact I never liked or eaten pickles before having them here. So far I've had Hook & Ladder, Italian, Engineer, and Firehouse Hero. It's also a plus when the kids meals come with either chips or small packet of Oreo cookies and a firefighter hat. read more

I had the new pulled pork with the Hawaiian bread and coleslaw. It was pretty good into the first bite but I got tired of it fast. The coleslaw was a bit runny thus making my buns soggy. The pulled pork wasn't exactly what I expected because I assumed it would've been BBQ'd. It just kind of reminded me of Ham chunks. Bf had a Philly cheesesteak without mayo and mustard- it was ok. I've eaten here probably 50 times since they opened a few years ago. Mostly due to co-workers who can't get enough of them. First, I do like a couple of their deli-meat sandwiches. They have the obvious steamed taste, fresh veggies, etc. But they really are over-priced for what you get. The hot stuff, such meat ball and brisket type stuff is very inconsistent. I ate it twice in a row and it was awesome. Then the 3rd and 4th were pretty bad. Overall I'd say that are somewhat recommended. We waited a long time for two sandwiches when there was only one person ahead of us. And our sandwiches were cold too! I think we were forgotten and that's why they were cold. Decided to take my lady and daughter here for the first time.I been here plenty of times but will not be returning due to bad customer service .place closes at 9pm and walked in at 8:52 and employee rolls her eyes turns around starts complaining to another employee and then she looks at us . if you have something say look at the person at say don't be scared and turn your back. How can you have signs plastered all over the store advertising their meatballs, yet they are out. The last time I was there it was about 6:30pm and the manager on duty was all smiley and said they would have meatballs in the morning.
