I hadn't been to a Firehouse in several years and I will not be going back. Everyone seemed to be in the back when I walked in. I fell for the up sale of a larger sandwich which I really didn't like. I went to get a soda and tried two different flavors and both tasted flat and more like carbonated water than anything. I brought it to the attention of the people working, one of them went over and pushed Some buttons however no one ever said a word about it to me even while I sat in there eating. A great sandwich shop for a quick and satisfying meal! They have plenty of seating inside and a few tables outside as well. Their service can be inconsistent though as the first time we came here, it was slow. However our second time here was completely different (different staff were working); the girls were quick and efficient. That being said, their food quality each time was pretty consistent which was a plus! We had their Firehouse meatball on garlic bread and Firehouse steak & cheese. Both were delicious. You can choose your bread (white, wheat, or gluten-free), and we went with wheat. I really love their bread as it has the perfect chew to it. The meatball sub was good but a bit too salty which was a mistake on my part to order it on garlic bread which was already salted. We went there again the next day, and got the same steak & cheese (with double meat) because we really liked it and also tried their Jamaican Jerk turkey, it was pleasantly good and lightly sweet (from their sweet mustard sauce) but not what you would expect from anything that has word "Jamaican jerk" in it as it has no kick and is not dry. This location has improved drastically compared with previous years. We went during lunch so it was a bit busy, but the cashier took peoples order in a timely manner. I like their subs. The Cajun chicken and the engineer are my fav. Jerk Chicken and the Smokehouse Beef & Cheddar Brisket Sandwich are also really really good. The prices are very reasonable and ordering on their app is really easy. They have contactless pickup which has come in handy over the past year. Only problem with takeout is not being able to sample the various hot sauces :'D!! Was expecting just another run-of-the-mill sub experience but the quality, taste, and look of my subs were just superb and exceeded expectations. They were doing a "tax day special" - buy 1 sub w/ chips and drink and get 1 sub free. I mapped out the closest Firehouse Subs location from my gym and hit em up. I've never been to this location, it's kinda tucked away from everyone else, but once you know where it is - it's all good. We got the popular Hook & Ladder (ham, turkey, jack cheese), got a free Engineer (turkey, swiss, sauteed mushrooms). Since my friend and I like variety we figured we'd split the subs, and since it was BOGO we decided to stock up for lunch tomorrow and also ordered the Italian Sub w/ extra onions, and got the new Pastrami for free. The manager Stacy made our subs, he was very diligent and thorough with the assembly. He even marked all the boxes w/ sub names. I got enthralled with the plethora of hot sauces and tried several of them before I locked down on 3-4 which I liked and got some to go. At the drink station we tried their iced tea - it was solid. In their fountain drink machine I found "low calorie cherry limeade" - - and that was really good. In fact the iced tea is so good here that other fast foodie competitors even pop over for a drinkage - - a nearby hamburger staffer shared this with me as she bought her iced tea in her burger uniform. Yay! This was just a delight, everything about the subs were great, fresh ingredients, quality meat, soft bread, and it looked aesthetically pleasing. Now I have pretty bad social anxiety so it was a little nerve wracking but honestly they're great! We visited this location tonight and our food was ready at 8:30. We did not ask for our food to go, however the staff packed it to go. When the staff handed my husband our food the server said "Sorry you have to eat this to go, we have to leave too." Mind you the location is up till 9:00 pm, which means the we would have had 30 Minutes to enjoy our sandwiches. Having spent over 5 years serving in the past - I am hoping this is out of character and that this is not something that the manager would approve of. Very disappointed in the staff and experience. I had the kid's meatball sub for $4.29+tax, which also included a kid's drink and rice crispy treat. When eating out I usually opt for the kid's menu since adult portions are usually too much for me. You can pay 25 cents to upgrade the rice crispy treat to a cookie or brownie, so I upgraded to the brownie. The meatball sub was really good. It was toasted nicely and also included melted provolone cheese that was also a nice touch. It included a pickle slice. The brownie was also delicious. They have a coke freestyle machine with many drink options, so I had Mello Yello which is relatively difficult to find at most restaurants. I ordered and paid online so that I could simply pick it up when I arrived. The employees were very friendly and helpful, and they keep the place very clean. It seems very family friendly, as I noticed several families with children. I will definitely return and highly recommend this location. read more

Update: A few days after I posted this I asked my husband to order lunch. I was upset when he said he ordered from here, but when it got here it was a night and day difference. The sandwiches were loaded, and as one would expect them to be. I am so excited to have my lunch go-to back, since as a new Mom I'm too dang busy to really make anything. It does take awhile in the restaurant to actually get your sandwiches, which I don't really understand, but at least everyone is nice! ***** Bummed- this used to be my go-to. I'm a new Mom at home with a baby and cooking for myself is basically not happening right now so I order from here (grubhub or Uber) for lunches. Last time I ordered an entire hour later I was told the restaurant had no record of my order from Grub Hub driver. The last three times the food made it there's been an entire quarter or up to half of my sandwich with nothing on it. I typically buy a large to split between two days but it has failed every time. I always try to give three tries to places that have been consistently good in the past and it sucks that this isn't a good option anymore. We called to complain and the manager sounded very indifferent but did offer my husband two free sandwiches; I'm not even sure we'll use them at this point. Bummer. read more

Ive had a very difficult time eating after a recent traumatic injury. I told the cashier I would like to build my own sub and listed the toppings I wanted. She became argumentative and said things like "so you don't want ANYTHING on your sandwich?". She kept hassling me on why I didn't want items and would list everything back to me in disbelief. She kept trying to add toppings that I didn't want. My boyfriend was with me, and had to hop into the conversation to politely help clarify that I can't eat certain things. Then she was talking to him about it like I wasn't there, as if I was stupid. I eventually said I was in an accident and now have taste aversions and she stopped talking. All that melty cheese and mayo leaves me feeling like I've committed a sin against my cardiovascular health, but it makes for a tasty lunch! Here's how Firehouse compares to its competitors: Less claustrophobic and better tasting with more subtle toasting than Quiznos. Plus, there are no disturbing sexual talking oven commercials. Much tastier than Subway while only slightly more expensive. Sandwiches are gooier and meltier. Jared would probably be wearing his big pants again after a couple months of the ginormous large size at Firehouse. Much, much faster than Schlotzky's, thanks to a finely tuned customer service process. More generous portions than Which Wich and Spicy Pickle. Lacks the funky, independent spirit of Thundercloud. I prefer the shabbiness of Thundercloud over the corporate kitsch at Firehouse. Employees are more cheerful with less tatooes and piercings per capita. Firehouse can't compete with a fine artisanal shop like Foodheads, but for the barren, strip mall wasteland that is Round Rock, it gets the job done in a pinch. read more
