I was the only customer in the store. Walked in and the two guys working the front were talking about the time change today. It was about a minute of conversation while I stood at the register waiting and then had to ask if I could order. Ordered my sandwich and waited about 5 minutes for it to be done. By that time another customer walked in and ordered and was waiting a while as well. The two guys continued their conversation and one of them dropped the f bomb while we were standing there. Left annoyed having to wait for the sandwich and listen to their conversation. I got home and my sandwich had nearly anything to it (pictured below). I paid almost $8 for this? This review is not for Firehouse Subs as a restaurant, but rather for this specific location. The service is horrible! Long wait even though we were the only ones waiting and there were five people behind the counter. They even got the order wrong and we had to send a sandwich back.The drink area was a mess. They were out of a bunch of different sodas. The lids were all gone and the whole counter was sticky with spilled soda. The floor was dirty with sandwich drippings. Had the hook and ladder or something like that, and have to say I liked the sandwich. Sandwiches came out in a timely manner and I like all the hot sauce options. Place was clean not a lot of tables with trash, maybe one or two, employees were courteous and nice. I LOVE Firehouse Subs sandwiches, don't get me wrong. I first had them in Houston, and always had a great experience from the location I visited there. Once I moved to Round Rock I was happy to see one so close to my place. Simply put, the service here is awful. The place is ran by kids. And not just saying that in a snide, up my own b kind of way, it really is ran by children. On par with Sonic staff, young. That being said, I have never once seen someone working there who looks older than 18, and they all do a horrible job of running the place. They don't pay attention to the online orders they get, it seems, so that's a no-go here. (Ridiculous. Don't give me the option if you don't even care to check if an order has come in. ) They always get the sandwiches wrong if there are any special requests, and the store front itself is gross. All tables filled with crumbs and condiment smears. The service is horrible because as I said, it's ran by kids who I guess don't really need jobs, otherwise I feel they'd be more willing to give a #$%@ about their work. Rude, don't seem to understand their computer system, and just bad. I honestly feel like they're given the job and just thrown into it without any real guidance as to what is the right and wrong way of going about being a representation of the business. So Firehouse is good. My favorite sub is Hoody's but Firehouse is a solid 2nd. The ingredients are good. They have lots of options on drinks and hot sauce. The only negative is that they are just a tad bit high in price. Better quality and service than most. read more

Wow, I order a small "New York Steamer" without mustard or Mayo. This should be pretty easy, as that leaves a sandwich with only meat, cheese and Italian dressing. The receipt correctly reflects my order. A few minutes later comes a sandwich with meat cheese, mustard, mayo, dressing AND lettuce, tomato, and onion that don't even come on that sandwich. I take it back and the "offer" to remake it. Again, all that was needed was bread, meat cheese, and dressing. This time, no dressing. This visit was after any lunch rush so there was no reason for the inability to correctly fill the order. Tasted fine. I nay return but I wouldn't order take-out. read more

I'm not so sure what to think about this. I ordered a Italian sub and ate it Yankee style or "wet" which means vinegar.... It was warm which was unusual for the Yankee in me. The bread was warm and very SOFT french bread like. Im not a huge fan of mayo but it seemed like there was a bit much on there. My only major complaint was the fact that something in the sandwich made it taste sweet. An Italian sub should NEVER be sweet. I feel like it could have been a sugar glazed ham or meat product that had been honey or sugar glazed inside..... this should be removed. Traditionally an Italian should have a bit more zest and tang(hence the pickles and the vinegar which are not present on this sandwich unless asked for).....My roommate loved her sandwich though... I think I would order something different next time I go.... but for a sub place, your standard or what you think of is an Italian sub... ;( read more

Apparently I ordered the wrong thing or came on a bad day but that was possibly the most under-whelming sub I've ever had. I ordered the turkey bacon ranch which apparently they decided I didn't need the extra ranch calories and left it off (so thoughtful). Not even a "hello" when I walked in, just workers going on about some drama in their lives. I'll give them points for a semi-edible steamy mess of lettuce, soggy bacon and turkey. When dropping off my car at Discount Tire, I asked the guy where a good place was to eat within walking distance, and he directed to FireHouse Subs next door. I had seen others and a friend had told me it was one of his favorite places to go. After reading the other reviews on here, I agree the sandwiches are awesome...for better than any other sub place I've been to in the Austin area, but as for complaints about the service...I think they were possibly isolated and over blown situations. read more

I just moved here from the New York Metro area and I have to say, Firehouse Subs is "The Emperor's New Clothes." The Italian sub (or whatever the name is) was horrible. The bread was like poorly baked, and the meat was skimpy and obviously mediocre in quality... If you need to settle for a meal (you have no other choice) then come here.... Sad. Went to lunch with colleagues, two of us ordered a salad that tasted sour as if something was spoiled. We both alerted the manager, her attitude was terrible. We both asked for a small sandwhich only and they were $3 less than the salad we paid for, we did not ask for a refund of any sort however the offer would have been polite customer service. It then took them 30 mintutes to get the sandwhiches to us which were poorly prepared. When the Manager brought them (I think her name is Jennifer) her attitude was still pitiful. We all have bad days however the customers should never know about it. We will not be returning to this restaurant as the employees saw this behavior and just smiled about it. read more
