I specifically went over to try the thanksgiving limited time sub and a NY steamer because a thanksgiving and a pastrami sub/sandwich is a rarity in the Milwaukee area. No one was in front me as I ordered my sandwiches which took 15 minutes to make, see my picture of the receipt time and when I snapped a picture with the time stamp when my name was called. The one star is because a guy walked in 5 minutes after me and placed an order and left 5 minutes before me WTF, how does some who walks in after me get their food before me ??????. The thanksgiving sub looked great on the display all big and enticing but in reality it's pathetic looking and skimpy on the turkey, see my pictures. The stuffing tasted just like stove top which isn't a bad thing because I grew on it . Even though the turkey was skimpy it's was moist and more like carved turkey vs lunch meat. Overall it's a great concept but the execution vs advertising is way far apart and watching a customer get in and out before me after walking in after me just blows my mind and totally earned them a poor review. We were in need of a quick dinner before tackling some chores and decided to give Firehouse Subs a try. We arrived on a Friday evening and were the only people there, which was nice as there was no line for ordering. Unlike a lot of other sub shops, you order at the cash register. I ordered a medium Engineer sub. I got it with everything and it still tasted pretty bland. They offer white or wheat--I got wheat but the bread was also just ok. The one thing I will say is that they do put plenty of turkey/meat on their subs. Beyond that, my experience was decidedly ok. read more

Solid subs, but toasting could be better. Overall, Firehouse Subs delivers on what you'd expect--fresh ingredients and a solid selection of hot sandwiches. This location generally does a good job following order instructions, whether you're customizing or ordering something straight from the menu. That said, the toasting can be hit or miss. The bread often comes out warm rather than actually toasted, which takes away a bit from the "hot sub" experience. It's not a dealbreaker, but definitely something that could be improved. Really enjoy firehouse subs! They have a crazy huge menu with lots of creative subs. They have one of those mix and match soda fountain machines (who knew tropical and peach coke zero was a thing?) There's a nice little patio in addition to lots of inside seating in their clean and shiny dining room They also have an app and a great rewards program. Recently they had $6 subs every Monday and a special for purchases made after 6 pm. I will agree with other reviewers who mentioned the subs are kind of salty but they are also delicious so it's forgiven. read more

Terrible experience. First it was over a 20-minute wait and then both subs were wrong. One was supposed to have items omitted and the other extra items added - simple things that couldn't be done correctly. Additionally, I order a large sub and 1/3 of my sub had no meat on it. My first sandwich the bread was burnt. I then asked them to remake it & it was so oversauced i just picked the meat off. It was terrible. Date of visit: 1/20/23 Scored a free sub via T-Mobile and appreciated the opportunity to try out Firehouse Subs as I have yet to have one (outside of a breakfast sandwich in the Newark airport which I did not feel was a true visit) of their samiches and I know they have a devoted fan base. The shop looks a bit dreary, but that's par for the course with fast food places, sadly. However it was well-staffed and despite a fairly steady stream of customers, they kept things moving decently. Staff was pleasant, though the cashier but she butchered my name on the receipt despite spelling it for her. She inquired if I wanted dine in or carry out but I had to repeat that again when it was time to pick up my sandwich at the end of the line. The person putting the finishing touches on the food called out each name very hesitantly, like he wasn't sure if someone with such a name would actually want a sandwich such as this; it tickled me every time he called out someone's name. The restaurant was clean and the staff was friendly. The Italian sandwich is one of their classics and it is my personal go to, however, after today's experience that may change. The staff greeted each customer when they entered the restaurant which is always pleasant. The cashier seemed competent and did not ask me to upsize, which for me is also pleasant because sometimes they can be a bit pushy. In this case, like I said it was a welcomed change. The sandwich was the problem with todays visit. I got the sandwich to go and was a little alarmed due to the oil spots on the to go bag. I got the sandwich home and did appreciate the to go packaging, apart of course from the oily spots. The sandwich was literally thrown together, the sauce was generous and almost too generous as the bread was soggy. The bread was another issue. The bread was starting to "crack" as it was beginning to get stale, which isn't a good thing for a sandwich based restaurant. The meat was generous but "sloppy" and just thrown in the bread. The tomato which I asked to skip was present and looked old. The service was great, the staff friendly and inviting but the food was the deal breaker on this visit. It's pretty basic for Firehouse to add a pickle wedge (kinda a staple) so when one orders 2 subs that total nearly $40 and the pickle is left out that's a bummer. But then when mustard is left off one, and the other is on wheat instead of white. Then they leave so much moisture in the double meat that 5 minutes after walking out the bottom is soggy well that's a real bummer. Sadly this afternoon this is the very first time we've been to a Firehouse where we ended up in total disappointment with out subs. I LOVED my sandwich here! I was going to order Jimmy Johns and it was almost $19 for a sandwich combo (pickup!) so I shut that down fast. I ran to the post office and saw this place next door - thought I'd check it out. I loved walking in and being greeted by the whole staff, fun and cute idea. I ordered an italian sandwich and a bottle of pop (less than $10!). They seemed to all come hot when I glanced at the menu, but I opted for mine cold. It came out quickly and when I got home I was pleasantly surprised as I snarfed down the entire delicious thing. They use a honey ham and a sweeter sauce, so I was surprised by how sweet it was, but it still had a nice balance. Plus the fluffy bread was delicious on it's own. Of note, no masks on any staff. Yes please! So. I love a good sandwich which is why I loved Subway. Then I moved to the Midwest and discovered Jimmy Johns and that was Bye-Bye Subway!! I'll never go to subway again. Then my co-worker introduced me to Firehouse. And maybe...maybe I'd say bye-bye to JJ but there are so few Firehouse Subs around that it's not an option. Honestly I LOVE JJ's bread. But Firehouse's sandwiches are tastefully awesome. If you put all the makings of a Firehouse sandwich on Jimmy John's bread, I'd be in absolute heaven! I love JJs bread, but Firehouse had really nice bread too. It doesn't taste bland like subways and is quite soft. I quite enjoyed the sweet tea option! Is this becoming more popular now because I'm seeing it more. I'd rather have tea than soda. They also have a fancy soda machine with lots of options. Fanta options I believe. But their medium drink is no medium. In fact, it's quite large! I'd hate to see what a large actually looks like. Anyway sandwich was awesome. I did the make your own option and added the combo. I'll be honest they have a ton of sandwich options and I didn't feel like standing there to read all of them. So I was thankful for make your own. I got roast beef, mayo, lettuce, tomato and onion. I walked up and was not greeted, just stared at and when I started ordering, the girl at the register talked over me to say goodbye to another employee leaving at the time. The dining room was dirty. I have never been spoken to in the manner in which I was spoken to here. I walked in and was asking for my order and they said nothing in my order, which had been placed 45 minutes ago for pickup was made. They said most of the order was not available and they were out of the ingredients. Then said door dash was to blame. I never ordered on door dash. I was quite surprised and yes cranky. All they did was offer a refund, no remaking of subs, alternative or anything. I asked if an employee who was on a cell phone could help me. I was irritated and asked if they could please help, I literally asked please get off the phone to just refund me. I was yelled at and told I would be disrespected as I had to her. Wow. I was absolutely floored. It see an employee on a cell phone behind the counter and now she's accusing me of speaking to her badly and now both employees are in at me. I was on the i was on the phone with my husband who ordered it and the employee refused to talk to him and continued to lecture me about how I should just take my refund as offered. I am floored. Nobody called us to say our order was not able to be filled and then very rude to me. I just went to Jimmy Johns. They were open, made my order in 90 seconds and didn't insult me, gang up on me and be rude about me being upset and irritated my order was never made. Just choose elsewhere. I grew up on meatball subs from a local hole-in-the-wall place that my parents went to while they were dating. They changed their recipe and aren't worth eating anymore. Enter Firehouse Subs. They have my new favorite meatball sandwich anywhere around. It's somewhat open faced with plenty of cheese and sauce and seasoned goodness. I also love that there are multiple sizes available so you have plenty of options. The rest of the subs here at Firehouse are equally as good (at least that's what my husband says). Tons of options to choose from with endless options to customize. Both toasted and un-toasted subs are available and the toasted ones are worth the wait. As an added bonus Firehouse gives back locally to first responders. You may pay a little more for their sandwiches, but it's entirely worth it in my opinion. They only get 4 stars because I feel like there's always room for improvement, and five stars is reserved for me for the best I've ever had. read more

I love the subs here but the service is very slow. It took me 20 minutes to get my sub and as I watched people who came in before and after me, it looks like they were also waiting about 20 minutes for their food. I don't mind the wait because I really love their Italian sub. It's all I ever order and it's delicious but if the company is more aware that the wait time is longer than most other sandwich shops, then they need to advertise "longer wait for better food". I have a dumb marketing idea for the company: advertise in each store how long people will wait and make a game out of waiting longer than the rest of the customers! If you wait for more than 10 minutes, ring the fire alarm and they get a free bag of chips. If you wait for more than 20 minutes, ring the fire alarm free upgrade next time. First time to firehouse subs. The atmosphere is cool, lots of firefighter gear, pictures and paintings. Cool things to look at when you're eating in. Also had flatscreen TVs for viewing. I ordered the Italian on white in their Med size which was probably just under a foot, had the meal with chips and a drink, the total came out to just under $10 bucks. One of the things I found really cool was they had about two dozen different bottles of store bought sauces on the counter for your use, anything from bbq sauces and hot sauces to garlic sauces and what not. Sandwich itself was deeeeelicious! I waited a bit longer then I think I ever have for a sub maybe five minutes and it was delivered to my table, now I know why. They put some love into these things! The bread was so soft and warm and the cheese was slightly melted on top a pile of amazing Italian meats and veggies. Can't wait to go back and try the cheese steak! This has rapidly become one of my favorite sandwich chain restaurants. Why? Well to start, it doesn't hurt that when one enters the room, the employees shout, "Welcome to Firehouse Subs!" Also, I love that they support local fire departments. Not only through their own contributions, but by allowing the patron to round up to nearest whole dollar. The round-up amount being a donation to the fund. Excellent. Oh, and the subs. They're good. I normally consider a toasted sub the same way Giorgio Armani considers a pair of Lee jeans fashion, but I have to make an exception with Firehouse Subs. My reason for toasted consternation comes from the thought of heated cold, fresh vegetables. Ew, gross. Right? But I think Firehouse gets it right by making the sub's ingredients toast-worthy, if that makes any sense. They're more on the plane with grilled cheeses or paninis than they are subs, but they do share the same type of bread loaf. I guess that's why they pass as subs. I've i've seen this place before but have never tried their subs. I was on my own for dinner and too lazy to cook so I stopped by to try out the subs. I ordered my usual Italian sub, but it was not the most tasty thing I've had. There was too much sauce on the sandwich and it was too sweet. I couldn't finish the rest of my sandwich. As far as subs go, Firehouse does the job. One of the nice options is that they offer both hot and cold sandwiches in three different sizes. Many sub shops have just two sizes, one too big and the other too small. Adding a third option ensures the right size is available for every appetite. Italian subs are my go to sandwich shop staple. Of all the Italians I've had, Firehouse didn't exactly blow my mind. Their bread is a smidge squishy, even after toasting. Their sandwich oil added an unctuous quantity, but not much flavor. I enjoyed the selection of meats, but felt like a little more cheese would have gone a long way. Side options are limited to bagged snacks, less than fresh desserts, and a small selection of soup. I like kettle chips and day old cookies as much as the next person, but I think adding a little more flare to the side selection would be appreciated. All in all, Firehouse filled my stomach and wasn't terrible. It would not, however, be my first choice for subs. read more

Wish I came here more often. The concept of the hot sauces with the donation factor is a delightful start to begin with. As others have noted, I have never walked in here and had any staff slacking on their welcome! As for the subs they're good, but when you load them up with your favorite hot sauce they're REALLY good. They have modern soda dispensing machines and have always been clean when I visited. I also enjoyed their entirely free birthday sub and the rewards program they have going on as well. I first discovered one of these places out in Arizona and was happy to see such a consistency when they finally opened one up here in Wisconsin.
